What is Your Damage?

Oneshot. Some ways away from the building, some time after the first announcement.

The foreman's office is a free-standing building raised up a story above the ground, a design that allowed the foreman to see all the goings on of the mine from the balcony that ran along the side of the office. On the inside, the office itself is rather bare. A desk sits in the middle of the room with three chairs lying fallen around it, and a filing cabinet lies on its side in one corner of the room. An ornate wooden cabinet containing some old cigars and a bottle of whiskey, along with some faded and partly-rotten papers that may have once been employee paperwork, also sits against one wall.

What is Your Damage?

((Ty Hartley continued from Romans 6:23))

Honestly, she didn’t know which was worse: the fact that eleven people were dead, or that she was kind of envious of her fellow Betty.

No.

No.

It was that eleven people were dead!

And memories of all the lawn games, of spending time together, of defending her, flitted through Ty’s memory.

And she grimaced.

She got rewarded for it, too. Probably got a nice warm meal, if anything. That… honestly got Ty’s ire a bit more, too. Ty was athletic, and ate a lot back home. Combined with the cold screwing up her metabolism, and… well,

It stung a bit more. Was it weird that it contributed? It was still awful Oakley was dead, but finding out Quinn got some good food out of it only angered Ty more.

No.

You know what? If she saw Quinn, she’d have… a talk. About Oakley.

And same goes for Janice. And Katelyn. And Jacob. And Jessica. And Aracelis. And Jezzie. And Shu. And whoever injured Prmezek.

But in a way, she felt responsible for Quinn.

She wasn’t sure what her approach was going to be. How things were going to go down. If she not just approached any of them, but also Quinn specifically.

But it was going to be a talk.

((Ty Hartley continued elsewhere))
