Hello Hello Hello Welcome To:

THE 12TH SOTF SONG CONTEST

The rules are literally the same as the last contest but let's run it back for the kids in the back:

[+] Stay Off The Naughty List

- submit your song via PM or discord, whichever's easier for you

- songs will be randomly divided into 2 or 3 semifinals depending on turnout. if you're going to be away at some point in the next couple of weeks, let me know and I can try to put your song in a round when you'll be here.

- listen to every song and give points to your top 10 favorites: 12 to your favorite, 10 to your second, 8 to your third, 7 to your fourth, and so on down to 1 point for your tenth favorite.

- if your song is in a given round, you must vote that round or you'll be eliminated. if your song isn't in that round (or you aren't in the contest at all), your vote will be counted as a public vote, which counts for half points.

- the top [x] songs will move on to the final. that number depends on the number of contestants. I'm gonna be trying to pare down the finals a bit this time around so that probably means more semifinal eliminations. you have been warned

- repeat the process for the finals and we get a winner.

- winner gets to hold the next contest, or they can pass the job along to 2nd place if they don't want to. 2nd place can pass down to third, etc, until someone wants to host.

- no eurovision songs
- no reality show/competition covers
- no songs already submitted in a songtest
- there is no penalty for length in this contest. however, if a song goes over 7 minutes, listeners aren't obligated to listen to more than the first 7 minutes of the song. so choose a long song at your own risk!

each semifinal and the final will last for four days. some rules about activity/extensions:
- if you know at the start of your semifinal that you wont be available to vote for those four days, let me know asap and I can move you to another semi, if we aren't on the final one already.
- I'll be posting every 24 hours in this topic as a reminder, as well as pinging everyone who hasn't voted on discord 24 hours before the round ends.
- extensions will only be granted in extenuating circumstances. forgetting to vote until an hour before deadline is not an extenuating circumstance.

WELCOME TO THE SECRET SANGTEST!!!! Here's how this is gonna work: Sign-ups will run as usual. At the end of sign-ups, everyone will be given the name of another entrant. If we have an odd number of entrants, RNGsus will give me someone to get two secret santas as the gods intended.We'll have another 2-3 day period where everyone's mission will be to find a song for their person; this will end early if all submissions come in before the clock is up. After that everything will be divided into rounds as usual, with the name of the song, it's performer(s), and who it was picked for noted in each round.

Unlike previous song contests, if you want sign up just post in the thread or PM me. Do not send me a song until I've sent you someone's name.

Sign-ups will run for three days or until we've got like 30ish people and nobody else has voiced interest.

Endorsed songs get their highest received score doubled, e.g. if it receives a 12 then its endorsement bonus will be a 12, if its highest received score is a five then its endorsement bonus will be 5, etc. etc.. Endorsements in the semi-finals will carry over into the finals. If we get to the finals and your song has grown on you, feel free to endorse it then if you haven't already. If you want it to get points this round though, you must endorse it before the round ends.

Finals are hype as fuck, right? Y'know what makes a real good final though?

A surprise twist.

That's why I'm including a boost for our adoring public: In the final round, all public votes for a song will be treated as a single vote that can be doubled by endorsements. Before, the highest point boost an endorsement could grant is 12. In previous rounds, the highest cumulative public vote was 26.5. The public vote can have a huge impact on this round, so if you're pulling for something, get that ballot put in! As a reminder, if you like your gifted song, send me a PM Endorsing it and it will get double points for its highest score. Endorsements from the semifinals carry over, but it can't hurt to double check and make sure your song is getting points.
