Summer Can't Last Too Long

A huge tree, bursting with foliage, straddles part of the overgrown trail. A large part of the tree has been hollowed out on the inside, making it large enough for army vehicles to pass through. It's large enough to house quite a few people, and the age-old carvings on the inside of the tree are testament enough to that. It's not much in terms of shelter, but it's better than spending a night in the deep, dark jungle.

Summer Can't Last Too Long

The sun had started to peer through one of the "windows" carved into the bark of this hollow tree, causing one of its inhabitants to squint at the light. Said inhabitant looked like he'd had a hard time fitting into the section he was in, let alone getting up there in the first place, but Boxer Carvalho was used to having to squeeze into places. Right now he sat against the inside wall. What he wasn't quite used to was the fact that he and pretty much everyone he knew were on this island in the middle of the ocean, and let loose to kill each other. In the time since he'd gotten here he'd had a lot of time to think - strangely enough - about who might want to get at him. One of those kids being the other current inhabitant of this tree.

Eddie Trinidad had been curled up and asleep by Boxer's side since they'd gotten there. Every now and then the smaller boy's leg spasmed, no doubt from the pain from earlier, and his normally ruler-straight face frowned into pained frustration. The titan had been his watchful guardian, as it were, wielding both the wooden shield and the hedge clippers since they had arrived there. A lot of the time was spent watching Eddie (he hadn't been able to understand the latest announcement), to make sure he didn't sneak away or turn on him. And to be quite honest, it was something that gave the titan solace from the reality he was facing, as well as the sometimes suffocatingly tight collar that was fitted around his neck. The titan put his shield on his lap and stroked the boy's short hair, smiling paternally. Hard to believe he'd first met Eddie on the island trying to kill a fellow teammate.

And speaking of Darnell, the other athlete was supposed to have followed them all the way here. Boxer could remember Darnell leaving for a bit, probably for patrol...

((Upon Megami's request, I'm moving them out of this location before they get executed. Thanks loads, Kyle. <_< ))

"Looks like Darnell's not coming..." Boxer muttered solemnly as he eyed the entrance. He then turned back to face Eddie and nudged him. "Let's go..." he said, to which the smaller, unarmed boy responded with a grumble.

Eduardo simply nodded, and got up groggily. Night was starting to fall, and their little corner of the island in this little corner of the world went through the day relatively unaffected. Boxer looked like he'd barely budged from his post while he was asleep, but then again, the titan was really like that. It was as if he had some apparatus lodged in his back, feeding him some sort of stay-awake medication.

Either way, it wasn't like he was going to try anything with Boxer wielding both the hedgeclippers he'd gotten from Darnell, as well as the shield Boxer started with, as they left the tree.
