Puella Magi Mafia Game Thread

Yeah, I figured he was goofing around, considering that this is explicitly not a game with jerkish rules. It could be that everything on the front page is a complete lie, but that sounds really, really stupid.
To respond to your inquiry about lack of activity, I just figured that there wasn't a lot of actual discussion happening and I really didn't care about the jokey stuff. If there's a relevant line of inquiry, then sure, I'll get involved in that, but otherwise, eh...we're already on 10+ pages and it's not even the second day.

y'all can we cut out the "what if rules... weren't rules?????????" talk now, i get that you aren't seriously proposing that but it's already getting tiresome to have every statement about the setup come with an "Unless...!" at the end
also, im. hm. i've got a bad feeling. the MeS train is starting to look like a train where everyone on board is feeling pretty sure that MeS is, indeed, town???? and that's a bad vibe
day 1 is important, and you should generally lynch on day 1, but im not sure that's worth losing a very active player who's leaning town. like, i only voted for him because he was trying to get me killed, but someone had to get the ball rolling so i can't blame him too hard

i really like arguments that pretend these games are decided by Skills and Plans and Gambits and not a handful of people keikakuing each other while another handful try to get that handful and the sane majority staring on in silent confusion back on the rails until as many sides as necessary die
reality balance is an illusion the universe meta is a hologram buy more gold uh votes idk this metaphor got away from me okay i'm gonna go cuddle my datefriend who is trying to get us all to kill each other now goodbye

At this point I am like 90% sure MS is leaning town, and I haven't played mafia that often but my train of thought right now is that if his VT claim was true then that essentially gives any scum a freebie to go after someone else with a power role come the Night phase.
As much as it's sus to go after someone who will most certainly flip town I'm just saying that MS is essentially useless now (though we still love you), unless he's lying and has a power role too. But I don't think that's the case unless MS is using one hell of a galaxy brain strategy.

counterpoint: mafia games get incredibly boring when you kill the most active players, and i wouldn't downplay the effect an active, on-the-ball townie can have

So I finally caught up on reading the pages (because I actually forgot about this game for a while, whoops). I'm guessing that even if MethSlack is a VT, then town won't lose much from losing him and I will keep my vote on for now. I'm also side-eyeing some people at the moment for being a bit suspicious, but I'll see if I'm being paranoid or not about them.

But what if the active players turn out to be scum, Boogie? You can't really say that you don't want to vote for an active player who could be doing that to outsmart the town side.
yeah, being active obviously doesn't get you a free pass; but if you're an active player, and you're playing like town, and even the people VOTING for you agree you're probably town, maybe you're worth keeping around

I'm not very good at the whole reads thing. Trying to read people has always been my weakness point on mafia (if I remember correctly in other games from ages ago). I think boogie is being a bit suspicious with changing the vote so suddenly, altho, that might be me just thinking too much about it.

I intend to keep my vote on MS for now, because I am of the view that a lynch is more useful than not, but I'd also happily lynch an inactive too.

I have to disagree with keeping someone who might be town around as there are a lot of people who can be town in this game anyway and town is not going to get hurt by losing one person.
