Can you explain what about this is scummy? Too lazy to go through atm since I’m on mobile but iirc the only explanation anyone gave was that it seemed weird or off.

Also, are you gonna follow up that read on blizz with a vote?

We have less than a day left so unless people are super feeling a blizz train I'm gonna keep my vote where it might actually accomplish something, which would be a fun change of pace. Plus I'm not a huge fan of react voting to someone because they voted for you. Speaking of!

Re: Blast folding being scummy, it came from minimal pressure. Riki makes drunk allegations, Blast immediately panic votes for him without any discussion. Grim presses by parroting riki then saying the interaction is suspect. Kami votes for no particular reason other than to add pressure. Dude is like, maybe a third of a way to lynch at this point. In response to that he calls for a rules clarification and follows up with a full role and fluff claim. Nobody else has even weighed in on the discussion yet, which makes it look hella jumpy to me. I don't remember Blast being under any scrutiny before this so it feels real weird that he's got a pocket defense ready for a push out of nowhere. Something has him on a hair trigger and if it's not being scum what is it?

i'm not gonna sit here and pretend i'm certain he's maf or anything, but it's more to go on than i have for anyone else and i like doing things

MethodicalSlacker wrote: Sat Aug 31, 2019 7:09 pmI agree with Blizz that Plush is suspicious but I also think the more interesting argument to make is that Plush is actively anti-logic. The "this game is 95% RNG and luck and memes" point is below "premise of the game" as far as discussions-worth-having go, which makes it absolutely rocck fucking bottom in my opinion. Yeah the game can be RNG, but everyone knows that and it's not worth discussing because it isn't a train of thought that goes anywhere. It's conversation padding and it's even stranger conversation padding to state not once but twice. It's maybe forgivable day one but DEFINITELY strange day two. And that's why to me a Plush lynch makes some sense, there, is that regardless of actual scum status this train of thought is apathetic in a destructive way. I haven't seen much in the way of reads from Plush and if the excuse is "i dont have reads because the game is wkjankesnjegkwj" then I want no part of that.
So, some of this I agree with, but here's my counter-point:

Paige can dial in very hard and very suddenly with really good and insightful results, and I think is absolutely not someone to hang a team out to dry randomly. I'm not gonna go too deep into speculation here, but their play strikes me really hard as in-keeping with their most recent town efforts, and while I disagree pretty darn hard with the rhetoric I also trust them to step in and contribute when there's stuff to add, hints of which I saw near the end of last phase. I've tripped over my own feet thinking this is a smokescreen in the past, so I think this time we should take the "Don't question the process if the results are good" approach and go fishing in scummier waters. I just don't think this is scum play, and I don't think it's going to be a productive line of inquiry at all, especially with time short.

So, looking it over:

Right now, I'm side-eyeing Prim and Poly a bit. Prim's reacted pretty defensively to minor pressure, but also isn't too bothered by the potential lynch. It's a weird combo that is slightly off to me.

Poly's reaction last phase was waffly, combining the credit-chasing of calling MS as Town with the herd-culling of encouraging his lynch. This is basically having your cake and eating it for scum, and the strength of his assertion that MS was Town is a big part of what makes me most eyebrow-raising. Scum can make big defensive plays with greater certainty than Town, because they know who's on their side.

Will try to assemble full reads at some point, but being real I have a semi-planned opening shift tomorrow that's gonna leave me fried. For now, I'm going to VOTE: Poly as I think he's the shiftiest standing out to me. I'm very amenable to being talked another way and will throw my vote/voice behind the goal of doing something over nothing unless it's something I think is particularly silly or self-destructive (like chasing Paige or Blast super hard absent some major developments).

Same page as mw in regards to a lynch of blast not making sense to me. I understand the reasoning for why he looks scummy a little better but losing jailkeeper sucks for town, and his role is verifiable enough. He’s not clear town even with verification, but I don’t see the point of lynching him now when we can verify him. Scum are unlikely to have jailkeeper imo unless there’s multiball. Scum protection punishes good vigilante play to too much of an extent imo, and serial killer has enough difficulty winning without dealing with scum protection. If there’s multiball suspicion of blast goes way up. Otherwise the most likely scenario for scum!blast is that he’s a roleblocker afraid to claim roleblocker for fear that that’s a role that town also has. If that’s the case, he’d be pretty hard to nail as lying, but it’d give scum a lot of inconvenience to have to play around keeping his cover, enough so that I find a panic claim unlikely.

Also, time is short. Please vote, everyone. Preferably for Poly, but if not at least drop a vote on someone so we know where you stand. Silence benefits scum.

eyes @ everyone still voting blast; especially kami and riki for apparently not having checked in since he claimed. i dont agree with paige's rationale for keeping their vote on him, but at least they're still engaged; and i think they're misfiring town rather than scum

maybe thatd still be enough to get me to vote for them, but i dont like the reasons blizz/MeS gave, so i dont feel great at that train either

also prim's whole waffle-y behavior around her votes is much, much scummier to me atm vote: primrosette

I'm still here. I'm lurking and digesting the info for the time being.

(also, I've been slightly busy. I'm getting ready to move soon)

I've thought it over.

UNVOTE

You know what? I believe Blast. Mami does sound like a reasonable enough choice for a town role like Jailor. Not what would instantly come to mind for me, mind you, but I can see it. I don't think Mami would be Maf like what Grim is implying, though.

SPOILERS FOR ORIGINAL SERIES, just in case:
[+] SPOILER
The "Mami snaps and shoots everyone" event happens in one of the previous timelines, and, while it's been a while since I've touched anything meguca-related, I'm pretty sure it happens because Mami is desperate to avoid becoming a witch/the other girls becoming witches (this happens just after that timeline's Sayaka becoming a witch and then killed).
So, Mami is a bit of a stretch for Maf, since she only does something that fucked up once under certain circumstances (don't know about spinoff material, so I could be wrong), but I'm pretty sure there are better choices for Maf megucas who are more overtly antagonistic.

Second the Paige FoS, though. I might have more thoughts in a bit.

I get the prim train but I’m reading her as moderately town tbh. Her town game has historically been fairly waffley and conciliatory and shy, whereas her scum game tends to be more aggressive and more prone to independent reads. Don’t want to put too much value on this since it’s been a good while, and because metas can be faked, but I do find the latter unlikely since prim’s town meta has historically gotten her scumread as town.

Yeah, when it comes right down to it, there's actually no real reason to vote for Riki. They've done nothing particularly scummy aside from trying to nail me for acting frustrated and dumb. Which, you know, I deserved.

I'll go back through the posts and see if I can find a better target instead.

Alright am actually gonna read through this now. Well, try to, at least. As so often happens with me in mafia games, things get a little bit hectic when I'm not there paying attention and it gets sorta wild. So yeah.

I'll say now that, in the interests of not being a complete deadweight and because two days without a lynch is badissimo, I would support a reasonable lynch at this stage. Just in the name of getting info going and making sure scum aren't monopolising the kills.
