V8 Pregame Opens Now

#1

Post by SOTF_Help »

Attention handlers:

V8 pregame is now open! As you get started, we'd like to provide a few things for you to keep in mind:

As always, realism is important and should be kept in mind when designing characters and scenes. Problematically unrealistic characters will not be approved, and problematically unreal scenes may merit staff intervention up to and including being stricken from canon. Make sure that you familiarize yourself with the Character Acceptability rules before you submit.

As with previous versions, there will be two phases of character applications: one for pregame and one for the game proper. Approval for pregame does not guarantee approval for the main V8 game, and we may request additional edits to your character for the main game, including edits which contradict or change facts established during pregame.

We will be accepting character applications in staggered waves in order to allow adequate time for the critique process. Each handler may have only one character in the registration queue at a time, with new characters being ineligible for submission until the first is approved or withdrawn and the appropriate amount of time has passed for you to have multiple characters. The schedule for these waves can be found here.

Handlers may only have a number of characters equal to half the number of weeks since pregame began. One character in the first and second weeks, two in the third and fourth, etc. Abandoned characters still count for the purposes of this cap, but permanently denied characters do not; this is to ensure that people do not repeatedly submit and abandon characters that they aren't completely sure about, thus tying up staff's time in critiquing characters who get dropped right away. Characters abandoned, withdrawn, or permanently denied during the critique process will not count against the maximum limit; only characters who are approved count towards the six.

We are allowing a maximum of six characters per handler in V8 pregame. Currently, the character cap for V8 is intended to be four characters per handler, as in V7.

As in V7, staff will NOT be allowing submissions of NPC profiles for additional teachers and the like without a very good case. There is a staff-created NPC roster for the school which handlers can use at will, with some exceptions, and the use of other side characters as necessary within individual scenes is allowed without need for staff approval.

We've planned the following events for pregame: Homecoming Court nominations and voting alongside the club/team position and student council voting, and a winter formal dance. Appropriate threads and forums for these will appear at a later date once pregame has been in swing for a while. There will NOT be a roleplayed trip or separate forum for such in V8 pregame, as the circumstances of the V7 trip were unique to that version and location.

As always, feel free to contact the staff with any questions you might have. We hope that you're looking forward to V8 as much as we are!

Go forth and don't get murdered (yet)!

"Art enriches the community, Steve, no less than a pulsing fire hose, or a fireman beating down a blazing door. So what if we're drawing a nude man? So what if all we ever draw is a nude man, or the same nude man over and over in all sorts of provocative positions? Context, not content! Process, not subject! Don't be so gauche, Steve, it's beneath you."

The sixth and final wave of pregame apps opens today! You may now have up to six characters approved for pregame. If you're just getting started, you may submit new characters immediately after you have one approved, without waiting two weeks between them. Keep in mind that there is still a limit of one profile per handler in the queue at a time.
