Jacob Joins The Battlefield!

So, I've never done anything like this before for Survival of the Fittest, but I've taken a look at a few threads for reference's sake and I think I've got an idea on how to go about it. I do also want to mention that all of them have varying degrees of WIPs, so details may change on the road to V9. Without further adieu, here are my five (might be whittled down to four) kids!

Skyla Monroe- "The Special"
Quotation: "For the last time, I'm not special. I just happen to be good at a lot of things."

The Pitch: Seemingly perfect girl is annoyed with this life and wants to shatter it somehow.

Backstory: There comes a time when the stars seem to align and everything just comes into place for a certain person. That time came for Skyla Monroe. From the day she was born, Skyla became the number one priority for her parents, two well-off folks (one a senior professor, the other a well-established businesswoman) doing everything they could to make their daughter's life as successful as theirs. As the years passed, Skyla grew to become a true jack of all trades, excelling at almost anything you gave to her. This, however, brought a severe cost to Skyla, in that it brought too much pressure for her own good, especially in the realm of academics, where her knowledge of the geopolitical theatre and debate skills (she's a member of the debate club), came in handy. Everything Skyla does is magnified, so that anything less than perfection is seen as a failure, especially since, she always seems to blow everyone away, even if it's something she's never done before. Now at the age of 18 and ready to pursue the next chapter of her life, Skyla appears to be approaching the end of the rope and wants to rebel against this "destined life".

Personality: Skyla is a generally quiet, calm girl, not usually being the one to start conversations. Intelligent, rational, and quick at thinking on her feet, Skyla serves as someone who can lead by example when the situation calls for it. In recent years, Skyla has developed a resentment towards her seemed perfection and those who have fed into this narrative, most notably her parents. One way she copes with this is by muttering snide comments to herself when no one is looking. When asked to do something, Skyla will shift the responsibility to someone else, not to avoid the matter, but to prevent the possibility of doing it flawlessly. The reason for this level of excellence is that Skyla practices multiple things on a daily basis, even taking after-school classes to further her understanding of a subject. It's about the one thing she still enjoys about being "perfect".

Skillset: Skyla is great at many things, but what she excels the most at is debate. She's extremely educated, confident in her points, and often able to convey detailed, expressive arguments with sources to back up her claims. It's a big reason why Skyla is a member of the Southwest Red Rock Debate Club, as well as her general love for geopolitics. What often gets pushed to the backseat is that Skyla is also decently athletic, having excellent cardio and solid speed. Despite this, Skyla doesn't see this as enough for her to be considered an athlete, despite some students pushing for her to join the cross-country team. Having had to deal with it for quite some time now, Skyla can also tell when someone's sucking up to her because of her perceived perfection.

People She Likes: Skyla appreciates those who like who she is, rather than what she's made to be. If anything, she's grateful for their existence, as to her, it shows her that not everyone believes that her life is simply a gilded parachute to success. She especially likes those who are willing to help her break out of this narrative, though these efforts tend to end in disaster more often than not. Really, anyone who isn't willing to follow the narrative around her is good in Skyla's book.

People She Hates: If there's anyone Skyla cannot stand, it's anyone who's trying to put pressure on her to succeed in whatever role she's given, unintentional or otherwise. To Skyla, they're complicit in the struggle she's going through. Somehow, these people aren't the ones that give her the most ire, it's those who have flirted or tried to hit on her. As if doing everything well wasn't enough, Skyla is also very attractive, and when these two factors come together with opportunistic or sleazy jackasses trying to make a name for themselves, it usually means Skyla has to reject guys (and girls) who want to date her (even though Skyla has expressed no interest getting into a romantic relationship). Skyla has also been bullied by a few people who resent her nature and what she stands for, all of whom have played a part in her resentment towards perfection.

Edwin Castellaneta- "The Casino Kid"
Quotation: "My daddy owns two of the largest casinos in Las Vegas, and someday, I'll be inheriting them and owning all of you losers!"

The Pitch: Absolute tool also happens to be the son of casino tycoons, as such, he feels he is free to do whatever he wants.

Backstory: The names Sergio and Cassie Castellaneta are synonymous within Las Vegas lore, thanks in large part to them owning two of the largest casinos in all of Nevada, the Castellanata Collessium and the Castellanata Cashdome. Sergio especially carries much weight in America, having immigrated from Mexico and working tooth and nail to build the empire he has now (it helped that Cassie was excellent with finances and business management). When Edwin was first born, it was unclear as to what his road would be. Upon learning of his parents' life, however, he was in love. Ever since then, Edwin has been biding his time, waiting for the opportunity to become the owner of the Castellaneta Empire and rule the casino landscape. Never mind the fact that his oldest brother, Dominic, has been slowly groomed to take the position once Sergio retires, or that daughter Teyana constantly flaunts her own success (that being a budding acting career), Edwin will do everything in his power to become what he feels, he rightly deserves to be. Unfortunately for Edwin, he is seen as a joke to the rest of the Southwest Red Rock High School class and has gotten close to being expelled multiple times thanks to his shenanigans.

Personality: Let's not mince words here, Edwin is a complete and utter twat in every sense of the word, and all of this starts with Edwin's massive ego, he can't go a single minute without mentioning something he did or how he's going to own you or someone else entirely. Edwin is also incredibly entitled and believes that, because he's the son of casino royalty, he should do whatever he wants. Anyone who is able to tell Edwin no will have to watch him throw the biggest temper tantrum imaginable as he rants and raves about suing you. With that said Edwin is considerably more behaved when around his parents and siblings. Perhaps they have a chilling effect on him? Edwin is also one of the resident sleazeballs, crudely flirting with any girl who has a prominent chest or backside. If you see Edwin, punch his face off

Skillset: It pains me to say it, but Edwin is actually legitimately good with business, especially in the realm of finances, to the point where he is able to do his own taxes (as well as the taxes of others). If it wasn't for the fact that Edwin was such as jerk, he'd probably have a solid career ahead as a finance marketer. Another thing to know about Edwin is his shocking speed. Thanks to being forced to run laps at gym class, Edwin has developed an insane amount of speed and is able to get out of dodge as soon as trouble emerges.

People He Likes: The question, if you ask me, should not be if there's anyone Edwin likes, but rather, is there anyone that likes Edwin? Or at least, remotely tolerates him. The only people Edwin seems to tolerate are either like-minded people (egotistical and entitled to have the world) or people who have been involved with the casino industry at one point or another.

People He Hates: Everyone else. Especially poor people.

Maggie Wilfred- "The Wooden Plank"
Quotation: "I wish I could find my own quirk, maybe people would respect me more if I did."

The Pitch: Daughter of politicians who is very bland and stiff and wants to find some sort of rizz.

Backstory: While Nevada, particularly Las Vegas, is known for being a Democratic-leading state, Albert Wilfred, state senator of Las Vegas is doing everything in his power to help legitimize the Republican cause, even as he grows increasingly disturbed by his party's continued extremism. An 80s styled conservative who believes in the power of trickle-down economics, his immense wealth, thanks in large part to a successful career in investment banking prior to politics, has made Alfred somewhat of an enemy to those on the far-right, as well as anyone who is sick of money corrupting politics. It's treated him well, however, as he was able to marry a supermodel turned housewife and with it, bring about three children who he hopes will lead the next generation of Republicans. The oldest of which, is Maggie Wilfred. There's just one problem. Ask anyone you know about Maggie and they'll tell you that she's about as interesting as cardboard with stiff movements, manufactured lines, and cheesy smiles. They merely tolerate her for one of two reasons. Her parents are lovely people who will bake you cookies if you ask nicely, and she's quite pleasent to stare at. Maggie hates this, and sees it as a big reason as to why she hasn't done more with her life. On the eve of her 18th birthday, Maggie gave herself a mission: To find some sort of a quirk that makes her stand out among others.

Personality: ...But, if you ask people who are friends with or related to Maggie, you'll find that the answer is closer to home than you think. In truth, Maggie is an empathic girl with one of the biggest hearts you'll ever find. She constantly worries about others and wants to help others however she can. Maggie is also a big admirer of animals, particularly cats, which she owns two and will protect them with all her might. Maggie is booksmart, and while she doesn't excel at any other subject, she generally does well in school. Streetsmarts, however, are something Maggie tends to lack, not always understanding social cues, and reacting unusually in situations. This is because Maggie was diagnosed with autism early in her life which also explains her, at times, stilted moves and vocal delivery. One of Maggie's biggest fixations is her love of fidget spinners, as it's something that helps keep anxiety at bay, as well as being something cool to look at. Maggie also fixates on animated cartoons, particularly Looney Tunes.

Skillset: Maggie has been climbing trees since she was six years old, and has been using this as fact to carve a great hiding spot for herself and others ever since. She can also use this place to serve as a thinking spot or an attack spot if needed. Maggie also makes for a great campaigner, helping spread the word about a cause, though usually with fliers and posters rather than speaking out. Maggie also speaks ten different languages, all of which she self-taught. Among the languages, she knows Japanese, German, Italian, and, perhaps most impressively, Turkmen.

People She Likes: Maggie will always be glad to meet anyone who shares some of her interests and fixations, which is why it makes her sad knowing that she hasn't met anyone like such yet. Maggie appreciates those who are willing to help her find a "personality", updating them on her progress, going to them for advice, and approaching them to vent whenever something annoys her. This may not always be for her benefit, however, as there are bad actors who wish to use this quest for their own nefarious purposes.

It's Complicated: Being the daughter of a supermodel, Maggie has observed some of the mannerisms of her mother while on the catwalk and has flaunted her own looks on occasion, mainly by posing in the bathroom or attempting to copy her mother's walk. This, no doubt, has given Maggie attention, which she remains unsure on how to take. While she does appreciate some of the comments given to her, Maggie also has to deal with sleazeballs flirting at her, people who make her very uncomfortable. Maggie considers herself lucky to be the daughter of a supermodel but also recognizes that beauty is temporary, thus removing this possibility from her personality quest.

People She Hates: Anyone who dares to hurt an animal immediately becomes an enemy of Maggie, unless the incident in question is accidental. Maggie doesn't fare well with people who are loud or abrasive, finding them unnerving in style and matter. If Maggie finds out that you're manipulating her personality quest, she will do everything in her power to make sure others don't fall the same pat she did.

Rivals: Sohel Jony: "We used to be friends, but then he started dodging me because of my personality quest. I don't know what I did wrong, but I guess he doesn't want me around anymore."

Murray Miller- "The Running-Through-A-Brick-Wall-For-Ya-Back"
Quotation: "Hey coach! I got them drills you wanted. What's that? Ooooh, you meant running drills. Hm, well, I don't think they can do that."

The Pitch: A dumb as rocks running back with a heart of gold.

Backstory: The Southwest Red Rock Rattlesnake football team is heralded as one of the finer programs in the district, thanks in large part to their efficient coaching, modern facilities and focus on preparing students for college. The Rattlesnakes run a west-coast offense, where the run helps set up short, accurate passes to receivers, and lucky for them, they have an exceptional bell-cow in Murray Miller. The next in line of a proud sports family, Jeff Miller struck it big in the NFL as a running back for the Detroit Lions while Tommy Miller had a successful career as a linebacker. Murray has all the capabilities to be a fantastic player, there's just one problem. Murray is ungodly stupid. It's not for a lack of trying, bless his heart, Murray is doing everything he can to do better in school, he even has a tutor, but for whatever reason, Murray keeps making the silliest mistakes imaginable. It's gotten Murray in hot water in the past and if not checked, it could stand to damage his prospects.

Personality: Murray is, to put it nicely, not the smartest individual. He consistently makes boneheaded statements or remarks that serve only to confuse, annoy, or amuse those around him. Murray is very gullible and will believe whatever anyone tells him unless the thing in question is so braindead, that not even he can subscribe to it. Despite this, Murray is an absolutely splendid individual who loves everyone and everything. He's a caring soul with a heart as pure as it can be. Kindhearted and full of positive energy, Murray can clear up tensions by saying something really funny. He also makes for a surprisingly good leader whenever things are tough, so when times are grim, you could turn to Murray to be a source of hope.

Skillset: Murray is a straight-up athlete, with a 40-yard dash total of 4.40, a score that rivals NFL prospects. His impressive speed is matched only by his freaking strength. Murray is able to lift heavy things without even realizing it and can benchpress at least 500 lbs. Murray also has one of the finest stiff arms you'll ever see, which he finds confusing as, in his mind, all he's doing is shoving a man aside to get more yardage. Despite his shortcomings mentally, Murray's football IQ is quite solid, and he tends to know the playbook well.

People He Likes: Murray likes everyone, mainly because he finds the idea of hating someone to be negative and a sign of having demons. He's close to his fellow athletes, especially those on the football team.

People He Hates: It takes a lot for Murray to hate anyone, to the point where some feel that it's borderline impossible. Still, such a matter can be done. If Murray ever finds out that you mentally or physically harmed one of his friends, be prepared to take a beating. Murray also doesn't take kindly to people who look down on others just because of where they come from.

Keiko Thompson- "The Quiet Music Lover"
Quotation: "O-oh, hi...d-don't mind me, I-I'm just l-listening to the latest Doja Cat song.

The Pitch: An introverted Asian-American girl who loves listening to music.

Backstory: In music, you have those who form the melody of a composition, those who are loud and proud, and serve as the heart and soul of any piece. The harmony meanwhile serves as the reliable motor that keeps a song going. And then, you have the beat. The silent types whose main purpose is to maintain stability in their life. Guess which group Keiko falls to. Born to two parents with Japanese heritage, Keiko grew up enjoying music above all others thanks to her mother owning a small music shop down the street. Never a particularly social individual, Keiko mainly kept to her interests, that being music. Pop music in particular caught her ears, their warm, inviting tones bringing her peace from anything stressful. Due to her lack of interaction, Keiko found herself being ostracized by much of the school body, even bullied by a few students for her unwillingness to speak to them. Keiko remains undeterred by them, however, and knows she will find happiness in life thanks to the power of music, whether it be by listening to Doja Cat or by singing soprano in the choir.

Personality: Keiko is an introverted girl who doesn’t take to socializing all that well. She’s quiet, only speaking on rare occasions. Don’t expect her to start the conversation either. Keiko is very sensitive and will cry when hit or provoked. When Keiko is enjoying some music, expect her to vibe by dancing. In these situations, it’s best just to leave her be. If Keiko winds up liking someone, she tends to be more excitable. Keiko is steadfast and at times stubborn, if she senses something or believes in it, Keiko will hold onto that belief for a long time.

Skillset: Keiko is actually a good singer, being a part of the Southwest Red Rock High School choir as a soprano. She also has an ability to read notations and choral sheets with general ease. During her spare time, Keiko is also a solid artist, mainly using an anime style. Keiko has also dabbled in poetry on occasion.

People She Likes: Anyone who enjoys a good bit of music will win some form of respect from Keiko, but you'll win extra points if you like Doja Cat (her favorite artist) or any J-Pop group. People who are able to keep quiet for her are also appreciated.

People She Hates: It's not anyone's fault, but Keiko will inherently find bigger or taller people scary because of their sheer size. Keiko is also outright terrified of extroverted people and will do everything in her power to avoid them unless they're able to tone it down. Keiko will look at you funny if you like heavy metal.

Got one for ya, for now.
[+] Maggie
Interesting potential relationship I envisioned could have arose between Maggie and Sohel, like so:

The two meet and Sohel would probably endear to her pretty quickly: he's not going to bucket into the same sorts of folks interested in her looks, and he's got the social skills to navigate her neurodiversity (genuine interest in the inevitable rambling about her interests, good at smoothing over awkward conversation) and they become casual friends. She'd like that someone generally personable shows interest in her various interests: he picks up on some of her fixations like animal rights and some of her fave cartoons, he in turn teaches her some basic Bengali at some point.

Seems like its going well and she'll start to pick up on his social skills the more she hangs around him, but as she starts looking for feedback in her Quest that causes him to start getting cold feet and he becomes increasingly passive and less and less enthusiastic with replies and such the more she goes the opposite direction. She'll probably be pretty hurt by it and when he's evasive about whats going on she write him out of her life thinking he's just another person making fun of her. Or something like that, depends on how she might specifically react in the situation.

I also did want to set up in the background that Sohel's conservative parents went from supporting Democrats to supporting Republicans at some point recently, so the event the two met at could have been Maggie's father cutting a few ads with working class folks supporting him, including Sohel's parents.

A few connections with Storm, Inessa, and Beau have already been created, but mind if I throw in a few other characters?

Marino:
For both Maggie & Skyla, I feel like Marino's "Bad Boy" vibe would spread off them. For Skyla, it would be a perfect opportunity to break her perfect, while for Maggie, it could bring in some excitement, even though it'll mostly involve crimes. Not sure if this would also affect them romantically, but you decide!

Murray & Marino are fellow athletes, so you know they would be instant pals. Although, it may complicate things due to Marino's bullying or devious licks.

Remi:
Remi would be considered an enemy of Skyla. She believes that Skyla is wasting her talents just to destroy her perfect image, and Remi can't stand it.

However, I'd see Remi being friends with Maggie. She would try and help her find some way to liven up her life through different ways.

Jude:
Jude's totally up for freedom of speech, she might be friends with Maggie also. Another plus from her is that she comes from a catholic family, but she's open to talking about different religions or political parties from other's perspectives.

Jude & Murray would be instant friends, the two are both idiots. XD

Everyone's Thoughts about Edwin:
It's safe to say that Edwin's a punching bag with a lot of cash, so here's what these three kids think of him.

Marino, at one point, would've tried to become his friend just for the moolahs. But seeing how egotistic this guy is, he opted to pickpocket expensive stuff off him instead.
Remi, although impressed by his family's wealth, would've told Edwin to stick a gold bar up where the sun never shines.
As for Jude, quote: "Hahahaha, no!"

Marino:

Skyla is already involved in a gang that can help her break out of the perfect reputation, but maybe she can make a recommendation for Marino in Beezlebub's gang? Maggie would initially be very excited over finding a new avenue for finding herself as a person, but would have reservations with his criminal activities. Maybe she grows a small crush, but who knows if it'll go any further. Murray might be alright with Marino based on the fact they're fellow athletes, he'd take serious offense to Marino's antagonistic behavior though.

Skyla finds Remi nothing more than a nuisance reminding her of the sort of cycle she wants to break. Not only that, she considers Remi a hypocrite for breaking her own future while she chastises her for trying to change hers. In short, they wouldn't get along at all. Maggie would definitely be interested in following Remi's advice on things, and maybe even share some of her fixations.

Maggie and Jude feel like they'd be pretty good friends, even with their political differences. The catholicism does help for Maggie and her family, of course. Mitch and Jude are definitely friends given their, um...intellectual deficiencies, although I heard Mitch has a surprisingly high emotional IQ.

Oh hell yeah, everybody hates Edwin!

Hi, it is I.

I've come to give suggestions for what type of relationship your roster of kids could have with mine.

Skyla Monroe - What I can see working is Skyla and Claude being on really great terms with each other. How I would see their friendship having begun is by Claude having volunteered to do a task that was originally given to Skyla, and after that, the rest was history- I'd imagine that would be a first for Skyla. Something else I should add is that Claude would be supportive; not necessarily the type to tell her to "give it her all." but more-so say "Just do what you truly want to do!" With this in mind, Skyla could probably see Claude as a reliable "older brother" type figure.

Edwin Castellaneta - Now Edwin, on the other hand, and quite shockingly, would probably hold a sort of fearful view of Claude. My reason for this being that Edwin is probably one of the only people who have genuinely made Claude lose his almost limitless patience. A "fight" (honestly just Claude beating the shit out of Edwin hard enough to break his nose and fracture his jaw) may have occurred between the two maybe because he spoke ill of Claude’s grandfather and ever since then, Edwin has learned not to test the gentle giants patience, all the while Claude holds a well hidden hatred towards the egotistical rich kid that he has decided to not to show and to continue with his business. All in all, I see them as being enemies.

Maggie Wilfred - Maggie and Claude would make for great friends or maybe something more! They are both socially out of touch in their own ways with Maggie lacking any type of quirk that could make her stand out and Claude being raised surrounded by very old ideals due to his grandparents. In a way, they could both find solace in each other due to that fact, to which they could also help one another in their attempts to become more socially in touch. Another thing I could see is Claude having actually hung out with Maggie in both her tree hideout and at her house a few times, and during those few times they've just talked with each other about whatever; even during those few times, however, I believe Maggie might develop a crush on the gentle giant, and she might even try to get to know him better in hopes of seeing whether he would reciprocate her feelings for him... which isn't very likely unless she has the time and patience to further develop a deep emotional bond with him; so only time will tell!

Murray Miller - These two I can see being the best of friends, a hundred percent. Both are gentle giants, and it makes sense that they would hit it off quite well. Claude finds Murray's nature a good source to get a laugh, and he greatly admires how he can be a great leader when the time calls for it. Overall, the two gentle giants can be best friends!

Keiko Thomspon - She and Claude could both have a very chill and calm friendship- Claude being very respectful of her space and timidness, not being too overly friendly but instead being friendly enough to her that they hang out and talk about their favorite bands. Keiko might suggest all kinds of music that Claude would gladly listen to, and he would suggest a lot of older music to her that she may never have even heard of.

Again, these are my suggestions on how their relationships would be like with Claude, but I'm more than willing to change them up to what you think works best.

My characters

Soo Skyla...
If there's anyone Skyla cannot stand, it's anyone who's trying to put pressure on her to succeed in whatever role she's given, unintentional or otherwise. To Skyla, they're complicit in the struggle she's going through.
That's Buster. If she's good at debate and a good student he's going to encourage her to do what she does best, probably not noticing her fuming.
Somehow, these people aren't the ones that give her the most ire, it's those who have flirted or tried to hit on her. As if doing everything well wasn't enough, Skyla is also very attractive, and when these two factors come together with opportunistic or sleazy jackasses
Aaand that's Mo.

Mo would also try to hit on Maggie, though I imagine him backing away pretty fast due to just not understanding how she acts. Buster miiight be able to be friends with Maggie, it depends on what sort of causes she's campaigning for. He doesn't like her dad, for sure.

Alrighty here we go again

Skyla Monroe

Raya Loux
Raya has a tendency to lean just in the direction of the type of person Skyla likes; she's someone who takes people for what they are and acknowledges them in that way, tending to ignore face-value things such as wealth and aspirations. Given this, and if we can find a reliable way for them to consistently interact (perchance as usual, with Skyla as one of Raya's customers), I think they could be friends or at the least positive acquaintances.

Edwin Castellaneta

Sylvie Rattray

Manuel "Mañana" Hernández

Céline Sharpe

Manuel appreciates him as a good and loving friend and fellow jock, loving to be around him because of the sheer joy he exhumes all the time, enough to tone down his own douchiness, though he does take a "I *refuse* to believe that you are this stupid" approach to his more boneheaded antics.

Sylvie Rattray
Murray is one of Sylvie's favourite people to talk to after she cheerleads for a football game, because of how refreshingly and unbashedly nice he is to everyone around him, mirroring her own usually-optimistic personality. I think they've become good friends.

Céline Sharpe
I'd like to think that after many attempt by Murray to talk to her and simply ignore her own attempts at ignoring him, she's come to recognize that, wow, it's someone who actually doesn't hate her. He's since then become one of the few people Céline will actively talk and vent to. Though I doubt he understands much of her problems, it really helps for Céline to be able to get these things out.
The V9 Children themselves:

The Machininst
[+] Raya Loux
Tall, muscular, attractive mechanic girl. Part of a metalworking club and a confident, protective and and friendly personality.
The Petite
[+] Sylvie Rattray
Extremely tiny (4'7) soft girl and flyer for the cheer squad. Exciteable, peppy personality with a latent hidden layer of insecurity.
The Forlorn
[+] Céline Sharpe
Strange-named and stranged-clothed girl, ostracized and bullied for essentially being an advertising board for her "psychic" mother. As a result is extremely withdrawn.
The Tough Guy
[+] Manuel Mañana Hernández
Tall, stocky tough boy, member of the basketball team, nicknamed Mañana by his friends. Kind of a bully jock who treats his close friends with protectiveness and hearty, tough love.
