Natali nodded in response to Maynard's suggestion and followed close behind him, taking care not to lose sight of Adam. The brisk pace wasn't a problem; focusing on keeping up kept her from thinking too much. It would be almost like they had just gotten a little bit lost in some area of Disneyland, if not for how deserted it was and the weight of the crowbar in her hand.
"Two swords and a crowbar," She said aloud. "We're the Three Musketeers." The sheer silliness of the statement got a slightly hysterical giggle out of her, and she quickened her pace. The last thing she needed was to start having a hysterical breakdown while Adam and Maynard left her behind.
Despite her resolve to be calm, Natali couldn't stop the uneasiness she felt leaving the beach behind. Logically, she knew that finding a building and getting inside was safer than standing out in the open. Of course, you could use all the logic in the world to tell yourself that there wasn't a monster in your closet, but that didn't always stop you from being afraid of it.
She'd come here again, she told herself. Somehow, she'd come back here and see the ocean, even if it was only one last time.
