The sheriff's office is a squat, square building with a fairly plain exterior. Upon entering, a reception desk can be found on the right-hand side wall, which then opens into an office space behind it. The interior walls are painted a plain cream and the office features a set of desks with waist-high dividers arranged on one side of the room, along with a noticeboard holding faded team photos. There are CRT computer monitors on the desks but the towers they used to connect to have been removed. A small staff room can be found down a corridor from the office along with a bathroom. If you go left from the reception area, a single holding cell containing a simple cot can be found.

Leslie huffed and grumbled something indeterminate under his breath before he stuffed the aspirin away and continued the rhythm. "Dunno. He was just some gringo. Shane? Sheen? Something like that. Only ever had a class with him like once."

"Maybe you should ask Beth over there." He popped his shoulder in the direction of the corpse before returning to his work.

"Fine, whatever." Aracelis huffed as Leslie stonewalled her.

It was the gringo that had helped Bethany take her eye and nearly kill her, but Leslie had his mind set on being an asshole so she wasn't getting an answer it seemed.

She chose not the give him any more of a response and instead settled back into quietly sorting out her appearance.

Annoyingly Leslie had done a good job looking after her bandages, he'd managed to keep them tight and with the new and fresh ones he had applied her face was dry. It meant there was a slight itch at the edge of the bandage where it rubbed on her cheek but Aracelis could deal with it.

Her index and middle finger lightly pressed on her cheek where Bethany's pickaxe had hit her and she winced and hissed softly as lightning bolts of pain flashed out across her face. Leslie was likely right about not wanting to look in the mirror, the bruising alone was probably hideous.

The pain and the company made her think about how nice it would have been to just be held for a moment. To have someone she cared about take her in their arms and allow her to feel supported for just one moment. To allow her to take herself away from the reality of her situation for just a moment. Aracelis clicked her tongue softly as she thought and rubbed her nose with the back of her hand. There was someone on the island who could do that, someone she knew who she could rely on.

Lúcio was out there.

As she thought about him, she remembered when he had blindly barrelled into Dani's Halloween party with a lampshade on his head and a small smile formed on her face. Her big clumsy idiot. She could vaguely remember the rest of the night, drinking and dancing, or at least Lúcio's approximation of dancing. It had been a good night, with him, Molly, and Stormy. Her smile grew more as she remembered but faltered when she realized how little she'd thought about him since the third day.

She gently bit the end of her thumb then placing one hand on the desk she turned to face Leslie.

"I think I want to find Lúcio, make sure he's alright." She said before pausing and adding an addendum. "If you're happy with that?"

With the last bottle, the cleanup project was complete and Leslie resealed the first aid kit as Aracelis broke the silence with her next request. He fought the urge to immediately shoot it down like a ICBM missile until his brain processed the words she actually said.

Yeah... yeah. Maybe that was for the best. If he couldn't abandon her, then dumping her on someone else would work just as well. Leslie didn't know Lucio that well or that personally, but he seemed the bleeding heart type. It'd be a pretty easy con job, and a bloodless one too. Yeah. Yeah.

Leslie nodded his head, turning and looking at Aracelis for the first time in a while. He nodded again before swooping for the med kit and bringing it over to the table he had originally sat it down on. "I think that'd be a good goal. We're doing good on supplies still, so yeah. I don't mind."

He scratched at one of his eyebrows and continued to think. "Think I have some business with him anyway. Would be nice to see someone nice for once, too."

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking," Aracelis replied.

She carefully lowered her legs and stepped off the desk. Then set to work pulling her bag back on. Leslie had finished packing away the first aid kit he'd tried to break so it seemed like as good a time as any to move.

Reaching over Aracelis grabbed her glasses and put them on, blinking as her eyes adjusted both to being able to see properly again and the blurred zone at the edge of her vision and outside of the lenses.

Once she was happy she turned her attention back to Leslie.

"May as well head out, no point sitting around in here." She said, then she made her way over to the door but stopped in the doorway and gently knocked on it with her hand as she thought.

She turned back to Leslie and looked at him properly since he had come back in.

"Thanks for uh...y'know." She said, before looking away and knocking on the door frame again. "Thanks."

Then she made her way out the door.

"Uh huh."

Leslie stopped fiddling around with his bag as the door closed behind Aracelis. He let out a heavy sigh, but the lingering tension in the air pushed back.

Maybe she was sincere, for once. It'd be nice, but he couldn't drop his guard. He couldn't until he was the last person alive and on that boat home.

He kept repeating that to himself as he gathered his things and joined Aracelis outside the front door, lightly kicking Beth's corpse on his way out.
