Relevant tho, if you're already claiming miller your fluff can't hurt

hi i took a nap
yeah i was just spitballing that alignment and roles are unrelated i dont actually think a mass claim of any sort was a good idea i was just thinking it wouldnt actually give us any alignment info
that said if i was gonna pick a scum class it would have been sorcerer (or rogue) (or bard)

Yo...
Magic missile is auto damage. That's why people use magic missile. But to note Welch Rule #69 - There is more to wizardry than magic missile. Even if I can do 200 damage automatic with no save.

no WiFoM in the club but i'm kinda inclined to trust boogie because an unprompted miller claim seems like a huge risk in a game this small and I don't see the scum value in taking it this early unless there's roles at play I'm not thinking of, open to hearing analysis otherwise though

I can't remember what game it was where somebody said 'if you're miller, claim it early' but that does seem to be what Boogie is doing and is the least suspicious move a miller can possibly make??
Agreed on the fluff bit though. Like... 'magic user whose source of power could paint an evil picture while still being good' screams warlock, not sorcerer. That's the only part making me thinkyface.

i mean sorcerers have completely innate power which is the distinction there i think

tbf unless I missed something in the setup, all the roles are DnD classes, even the mafia? Isn't it possible that there's a Warlock that is actually evilguy?
On boogie's claim, it is generally true that scum don't want to claim a miller this early, since it attracts lynches and vig kills, but something something WIFOM, and I won't delve into that this early since, by my count, three people have yet to post.

I'm feeling good about the claim, I'm just whining about the flavor right now. Concerning evil roles... I don't know, actually, just about anything could fit evil, except like, paladin.
Warlock is a good enough fit but since they can also have celestial patrons, that's why I'd probably set it up as a miller if it were my game. It's not, but coulda/woulda.
Warlock/Sorcerer/Rogue are the most likely candidates at a glance. Since this is D&D mafia and not D&D 5e mafia we also have other options like blackguard/antipaladin, SPECIFICALLY evil classes.

Could scumteam also be monsters? Beholders, mind flayers, liches and the like?

Ngl I could even see a scum blackguard with paladin safeclaim. I don't think blackguards are an explicit thing in 5e but there are no more alignment restrictions so an evil paladin is well within the rules. No flavor is safe imo.
