ah fuck it, no reason to postpone:

i have laid out my initial points in post numbers 281 and 282.I have noted Blast doing a soft cover on Cactus (269) which i found odd. But I was like, well, this is just a hunch but nothing real yet to go off. But now my suspicion has grown enough. And I'll be honest, Blast's "gee i wonder what we can do but shoot randomly" is irking me enough to harden these suspicions. So I am going to go ahead and pull this vote.

Random guessing is how every game is won and lost

Nearly every brilliant ploy to unmask scum is based on conjecture that the target never meant or even thought about

This is a game of goofs and rng and extremely rare moments of real deduction. once again anyone telling otherwise is a gotdamn huckster

More to the point, I wouldn't be suggesting just doing a random vote if anyone was actually, you know, doing something. We can do 15 pages of meaningless fluff, but when it comes time to actually examine this game, everyone clams up all of a sudden.

So yes, I realize that it's irritating that I'm saying just do stuff at random, but doing ANYTHING is better than letting another day phase go by with no vote.

And on that note: VOTE: RIKI

Jumping on me for trying to actually spur people to action isn't a great look.

Sorry, I'm working on a comprehensive reads list. I like to do at least one of those a dayphase in mafia, but this one's taking me awhile since it's been years since my last Mafia game and I'm forced to behave like an adult in my day-to-day life

Wanted to second MW's point. One of the best pro-town cases I ever made was when I was playing as scum, because my main suspect was an arsonist and all my arguments against them were pointing out their legitimately scummy behavior. In fact, I was probably able to put together a better case than usual because I knew what all the other scum were doing, so when mysterious deaths happened in the course of the game that we didn't cause I was able to narrow the list of suspects and take advantage of everyone's power roles and investigations. I don't think that's what boogie's doing, but it really could be full genius if boogie's some kind of limited bulletproof scum and is using the opportunity to hunt for other potential killroles.

That said, I want to second Riki's suspicion towards Blast.

Blast's original post:
Blast wrote:Well, what’s there to do? Unless an investigator role managed to learn anything, we’re still at square one when it comes to information. The only play we could do right now is fire randomly and hope we hit scum.
This is pretty unhelpful and was specifically made in response to boogie calling for action about things staying quiet so long. Riki called them out on it (in...admittedly strong terms, what with the vote), and Blast's reponse?

This seems like a pretty dramatic mischaracterization of the interaction. Blast was specifically saying, "Why should we do anything when we've got so little info?" and then, in response to a pressure vote, immediately tries to claim their protest against a call to action was actually itself a call to action, which, uh...

And combined with the react vote? Yeah, feels a little scummy to me.

Sorry for the double-post, but it's important info for gathering data: does this forum have an equivalent to the old "see posts only by this user" thing you could do?

I'm still not sure what I even did; am I not supposed to grumble over losing a townie during the night phase?

I don't have anything to contribute here. Everybody's been quiet and I'm not remotely learned enough at mafia to see things the way y'all are. Be nice to get a bit more chit-chat from a few folks though.

The current vote total is as follows:

blastinus- 2 (Riki, Grim Wolf)
Riki- 1 (blastinus)

17 alive means 9 to lynch. Approximately 3 days remain. Silence speaks volumes.

EBWOP: I meant "the link to the thread on the forums." Like, right next to the title where it says how many people posted in it. X_X

Anyways, I actually agree with Riki? Like, being all "well, what can we do? Shrug, let's just lynch a random dude!" isn't that helpful. Then the react vote? And then getting all defensive.

So, I'll add a little more heat to this fire.

An out of character mod note: I stated at the beginning of the game that starting during this day phase I'd start instituting activity rules, specifically that every player must make at least 3 posts with some amount of actual content per day phase. For the sake of ensuring as few inactivity kills as possible while also keeping discussion going, I'm modifying that rule to at least 2 posts with actual content, or at least one post with actual content with 2 or more posts without. For the sake of that rule a "post with actual content" means anything that is meant to push the discussion forward and isn't just shitposting, stating agreement or disagreement with someone without giving a reason, or voting without any explanation.

With this rule adjustment, the following people are still currently in danger of receiving an inactivity strike (MethodicalSlacker is not on the list as he has posted as away/reduced activity):
  • Primrosette
  • Jilly
  • Polybius
  • General Goose
  • Mimi
  • Deamon
There are several days remaining in the phase; this is just a preemptive warning. This game will die if people aren't participating and that would suck for everyone involved, so please check in every now and then.

I’d like to ask a simple question about notifications, actually. If someone is jailed, would they be notified, or would their actions just not go through?

If an action is blocked in any fashion, and that action would normally result in the person using it receiving some sort of result, such as a Cop's investigation, they will be told their action has No Result. If an action is blocked and that action does not normally result in the person using it receiving some sort of result, such as a Mafia's kill, they will receive no notification and the action simply will not go through.

Well, that doesn’t help me much, because if last night’s target is a power role, they’re not going to out themself. Bummer, that.

But anyway, yeah, I’m the Jailer. If you want to know who I jailed, I’m alright with that, but what I’m not is scum.
