Tutoring W/Meghan Roberts

[EarthBound]

Lopaka soon found a sense of dread washing over him as he slumped down in his seat. Meghan having to take the most dramatic pause in the entire world was NOT helping. What if all of this work for nothing? He couldn’t deal with another 47.

“Hey, don’t leave me in the dark! What is it? Is it bad?” Lopaka pipes up.

“I don’t…I don’t know how to tell you this, Lo.” Meghan placed the paper down and held a hand over her mouth, shutting her eyes “I…I think you need to be held back.”

Another small pause before she suddenly cracks a smile and laughs, leaning back in her seat “I’m fucking with you! This looks great! So much better!”

Lopaka’s face morphed into one of pure terror for a moment. A vision of a report card flashed in his mind, displaying a line of endless red F’s. Being held back….no, not after he made it this far. What would his parents think? They’d be so disappointed.

And then Meghan pulled the wool away from his eyes.

“Oh, fuckin’ god-“ Lopaka covered his face, letting out a deep, deep sigh of relief. “You are actually the worst! What is your problem?!” He playfully hit Meghan.

Meggy laughed heartedly, placing a hand over her head as her face went red “I’m sorry I’m sorry! I couldn’t help it! This is great, Lolo! I think, I expect! Just clean this up a little and you’ll get an 80 maybe even 90!” She explained as she patted his shoulder “I’m so proud of you!”

“Godddd….never pull summin’ like that ever again! Gave me a damn heart attack in my next life…”

Lopaka took a deep breath, calming himself down from the sudden shock. At the end of the day, Meghan thinks that his paper is worth an 80, maybe even a 90. That was a grade that would save him from failing, and so, he was proud of it.

“Thank you for all of this. Really….” Lopaka takes the paper back. “You were such a great help.”

“Daww, it’s no issue my man.” Meghan patted his shoulder, giving a warm smile to him.

“All I ask is that if you fail another paper, you come to me.” She told him ‘Or even, if you just want a study buddy!”

“Will do, will do! I promise!” Lopaka reaches over and takes one more chocolate bar, slipping it into his pocket. Now, he’s all set with his sweet tooth for the day.

….Okay, maybe he should take one more. He’s going to do that.

“Guess I just need to turn this in…” Lopaka took a deep breath. “Hope teach thinks the same way you do!”

Meggy stood up with him and proceeded to quickly wrap her arms around him for a small hug. Some small affection to show her appreciation and friendship with him. It’s what her parents taught her. “You’re gonna do great Lo. Knew you were more than muscle. You also have a sharp eye for history!” She said, patting his back.

BIG HUG!!! It always has to be a big hug when it comes to Lopaka. He’s been told that he gives the best hugs.

“Ha- don’t gotta flatter me like that!” Lopaka pulled away, ruffling the back of his hair. “But, uh….means a lot that I got you in my corner. Really.”

Lopaka approaches the door. “Catch ya around? Sometime? Anytime?”

Meghan gestured some finger guns “I hope you get more 47s in your future….” she stopped and then laughed “Eh…you know what I mean.” She waved off and laved as she tipped her head and turned away to declutter the desk.

“I get it, I get it!” Lopaka waved his hand. “Buh-bye!”

Lopaka happily strolled out of the room, in a beeline toward the history teacher’s room. This morning he had been dreading having to go and talk to this tutor, but now he was leaving with a new friend. It was always great to have friends, even if you’re just meeting them come January of Senior Year!

Lopaka added to his internal dex and continued on with his now delightful day.

Meghan expression stayed as she watched her new friend leave. She turned away and began to do a small excited jump, pumping her fists up in the air as she grinned. She glanced at the clock, seeing her time is up for now. She stretched her body and began to pack up her stuff.

You did a good thing today Meggy. Good job.
