Name: Leopold "Leo" Anders
Gender: Male
Age: 18 (born Feb. 8)
Grade: 12
School: Bayview Secondary School

Activities: tutoring, NHS, Boy Scouts of America (formerly), technical theatre (briefly)
Hobbies: Leopold has always enjoyed doing things with his hands. The shelves in his room hold a fair share of wood carvings and models that he has completed over the past few years (He was also on the set construction crew for the school theatre group during his freshmen year, but decided not to return in subsequent years due to conflicts with his studies and other activities). While at school, he usually keeps a deck of cards with him, so that he can occupy himself whenever there's nothing else to do.

Appearance: Standing at roughly 5'10" and weighing 168lbs, Leo is of a fairly average height, although he has always considered himself to be a little on the short side due to having started growing later than most of the other kids his age. This perception of himself is aided by his face, which is slightly boyish and unmarked except for a light dusting of freckles in the summertime. He has very pale blond hair which he keeps cut short. Leopold suffers from mild nearsightedness (posessing roughly 20/30 vision in his dominant eye). He has contact lenses prescribed but rarely bothers with them, instead preferring to wear glasses. Physically, he isn't exactly out of shape, but he still tends to be on the lower border of what most people would consider physically fit.
Leo tends towards wearing simple t-shirts and jeans in casual situations. Habit has him dressing to be adaptable to abrupt changes in weather, so he typically wears a light jacket or hooded sweatshirt for most of the year. He wears a simple analouge watch on his left wrist which tells him the time of day and nothing else.

Biography: Even though he was the second of two children, Leo considers himself to be an only child for all intents and purposes. His older brother, Oscar, was already in eighth grade when Leo was born and has been off at collage or living on his own for as long as Leo can remember (Following his graduation from college, Oscar moved to Duluth, where he currently lives with his wife). Since the two of them never really spent much time with each other, Leo's views Oscar more like an Uncle, especially in light of the fact that both of his parents were only children.

As a child, Leo joined a St. Paul area Cub Scout organization, a decision which was probably aided by the fact that several of his friends were doing the same thing. As time went by, he remained a scout and gradually became more active within the organization, even as a few the friends who had initially joined with him lost interest and dropped out. It was at some point during this time that he got into woodcarving, a hobby which he would stick with for years to come.

In the meantime, Leo retained a fairly laid back attitude with regards to his education. He took the honors curriculum in middle school but never really bothered to put in any more effort than he needed to use to pass the classes. This attitude changed when he entered high school and decided to start taking his schoolwork seriously. Since he wasn't particularly gifted with intelligence, Leo began to maintain his grades with devoted studying. He had originally joined the technical crew for the school's theatre group, but soon found out that the group necessitated a massive time committment as the performance date approached. After finishing out the year on the crew, he made the decision not to return the following year due to the strain of trying to maintain good academic standing during that time period. For the same reasons, he had been considering trying out for one of the school's sports teams the following year to help him stay in shape (a problem which better he was aware that he had always been bordering on, but which had never really been one of his major concerns until late in middle school), but he likewise decided that it would be better to spend his time studying, and then find physical activities that he could do on his own if he could find the spare time. Leo's sole school activity following his departure from the tech crew is serving as a volunteer tutor during his study hall period.

With a good portion of his time freed up, Leopold managed to find time to return to scouting (something which he hadn't been able to devote much time to during his freshmen year). After a year of balancing his studies, social life, and scouting, Leo finally managed to complete the requirements for his Eagle award. He had originally intended to remain active in his troop, but ended up sacrificing this desire in order to begin focusing on getting accepted into the National Honor Society and a good college. In his senior year, Leo's work paid off when he applied and was accepted to the University of Minnesota.

Despite the time he spends studying, Leopold still manages to maintain a fairly respectable social life. He isn't exactly renowned throughout the school, but he has a reasonable circle of acquaintances with whom he remains on friendly terms, even if the times outside of the weekends when he can meet with them outside of school for extended periods of time are few and far between.

Advantages: has much experience in dealing with the outdoors as a result of being a boy scout ever since he was young. This experience is by no means comprehensive enough for him to live off of, but it covers such areas as orientation, first aid using limited supplies, and knotcraft. He is also quite used to extended stays outdoors in various weather conditions. His various activities have taught him how to assume leadership when necessary, although he has never really done so in an emergency or other threatening situation.
Disadvantages: First impressions tend to stick rather strongly with Leo, putting him at a disadvantage in a game where temperments and alliances can shift from one minute to the next. He is not particularly innovative or quick with his thinking. In addition to this, he sometimes finds it difficult to concentrate and think clearly after extended periods of strenuous activity or exceptionally stressful circumstances.
