Name: Jennifer Jo Lewis Wainwright
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: 12
School: Bayview Secondary School
Hobbies and Interests: Geek rock, Manga, books, fanfiction, the internet, Acting; in essence stories and characters, the more epic the better.
Appearance: Jennifer stands at 5'5" and weighs around 165lbs. She is on the husky side but has often been told she looks like she only weighs 135lbs. She proudly claims that it is because muscle weights more than fat and she has solid thighs which she explains by women having greater lower body strength than men. In reality she just walks up and down a lot of stairs everyday.
Her hair is a dull medium brown, wavy, somewhat frizzy, and very long, coming down to her hips, which she wears in a variety of ways depending on her mood and how much she has slept in that morning. Mostly it is worn in a pony tail at the back of her head or in a bun secured by a pen and pencil (she likes to have either easily accessible when she wants one).
She doesn't care a whit for fashion and is typically seen wearing comfortable, worn-in jeans, boots or sneakers, and a sweater or t-shirt (usually hand me downs from her older cousin/sister Heather) but she does have a decent instinct for what looks good on other people. The only makeup she wears on a regular basis is black eyeliner on her lower eyelids and powder to tone down the shine of her oily t-section.
Finer portions of her appearance include nails that have been chewed down to the quick for longer than she remembers, tanned skin, full lips, dark brown eyes, an unremarkably average nose, and thick eyebrows. She has no piercing or tattoos but a few small scars from childhood accidents (the most notable behind her right eyebrow caused by flying glass in a car crash when she was 7) and a light smattering of freckles.
Biography: Jennifer was the eldest of her biological mother's children (at last count 7) and while her childhood was tragic it was not overtly traumatic, marked primarily by poverty and her mother's increasing drug addiction. That is the strongest reason as to why Jennifer hasn't ever done 'hard' drugs.
To get away she would play outside and climb trees which developed her into something of a tom-boy. She also became overly independent (preferring to do things for herself, even thing she shouldn't have had to, like ironing and fixing meals for herself and younger siblings) and kept everyone at a distance so they wouldn't know about her home environment or be able to hurt her.
Even so she was a smart kid who retained information easily and was capable of creative thought. She did have problems math in that she had to work every equation out instead of just regurgitating the needed numbers. This made her especially good at Algebra (her favorite subject after Art and Drama) but led to most of her second grade year spent in detention over recess re-doing math quizzes over and over again.
At the age of 9 her mother's habits came to the point where she and her siblings (5 including her at the time) where left to the care of friends and family. Jennifer was left on the doorstep of her aunt Diane and uncle Richard's home. After several months it became clear that Jennifer's mother wasn't going to come back for her so Di and Rick applied to the state to become foster parents, took in Jennifer's younger sister Jamie, 7, and had them transferred to the local elementary school where the youngest of their two daughters, Jessica, 9, went. Three years later Jamie and Jennifer were adopted by their aunt and uncle.
While Jessica was three months older Jennifer, Jennifer ended up in Fourth grade while Jessica was repeating Third. Still, due to Jessica and Jennifer's similarity in age they became more friends than family. Because of this Jennifer would make herself a part of Jessica's own, younger, social group and Jennifer did not bother finding her own until high school. Even after developing her own peer group Jennifer's deep-seated abandonment issues prevented her from her from getting really close to her friends in order to prevent herself from being hurt when/if she lost them. She is surprisingly verbose though not about anything really important. Mostly just jokes she's heard, websites she visited, book(s) she's read(ing), or things she's seen on TV. Jessica is still the only person who she really talks to about her actual life and feelings.
Currently Jennifer works as a cashier at a local grocery store, where she projects the image of an upbeat friendly girl. She loves reading and submersing herself into far more exciting worlds. Several of her favorite books, series and authors were introduced to her by her older sister/cousin Heather who she aspires to be like, or Heather's ex's who she though were cool. It was one of Heather's ex's that introduced her to Manga and comic books. She reads Manga primarily because it's easier to read for free off the internet. Heather is also the reason that Jennifer enrolled in Drama. She made it seem fun and exciting. It doesn't hurt that Jennifer likes attention that doesn't center around her as a person even if she isn't really that good at acting.
She spends a great deal of her free time on the internet. She likes that the people there actually know what she's trying to talk about. Her interests are pretty geeky compared to her friends and family and most of them have developed a rule about not asking her questions unless they want to sit through a half-hour explanation of 'Chekhov's Gun'.
She loves anything that will make her laugh, regularly listening to comedians and witty music on her computer. Lemon Demon is her favorite band because she thinks it's awesome that it's just one guy on his computer and she thinks he's hilarious. Jennifer's musical taste are still quite ecclectic, ranging from Swing Revival to Classic Rock (her dad is an audiophile). Her favorite comedian is Demetri Martin.
She doesn't watch a great deal of television. The only shows she actually watches are new Doctor Who, How I Met Your Mother, Important Things with Demetri Martin, and The Big Bang Theory. She loathes reality television and all the associated drama. As far as she is concerned reality (except documentaries and the news) belong in the real world because that's where she would go if she wanted reality. This includes SOTF. If she wanted to watch kids kill each other she'd go to the North End.
Jennifer likes fictional characters better than real people because she can know them without having to worry about them knowing her. She doesn't like sharing herself with anyone besides Jessica because, while she likes who she is, she doesn't think others will and she doesn't want to be rejected though she's got few compunctions about abandoning others (before they can abandon her). She enjoys reading and writing fanfiction primarily because of character exploration, getting to know her favorite characters (or other peoples versions of them) better. Really she's just escaping from herself and her life because she doesn't really know how to be herself in front of others and she thinks her own life is dull. It also provides her with something she doesn't really know how to obtain for herself; romance. It's less embarrassing than watching romantic movies or buying paperback romance novels where anyone can see her.
She smokes pot and cigarettes but doesn't drink alcohol and has tried X once, under the supervision of her college age sister/cousin Heather. She has no boyfriend and never has. She hasn't even ever been kissed before and won't admit to wanting to.
Jennifer tries to be tough, never crying in pain, admitting longing, allowing herself to succumb to jealousy, or any number of things she considers weak or useless in herself. Her motto is, 'It could always be worse.'. She is somewhat tolerant of these things in others but only to a point.
Advantages: She has a head full of random facts and while most of them are useless some of them could be quite useful in SOTF. For instance, she knows basically how to perform a tracheotomy, knows that guns recoil (though it's bound to take her off guard), knows where most of the major arteries are in the human body, and she has her CPR certification.
Disadvantages: Jennifer has never touched any sort of weapon in her life outside fake swords and unloaded rifles in a hunter education class she took once but wrongfully thinks she could make it in the wild. She thinks she is smarter than she really is, more capable than she really is, and tougher than she really is.
