Geometry Class

Hobbsborough is a combination of two schools. A public and a Catholic school. You can just feel the tension in the air.

Continued from Mrs. Saranna's Homeroom

Ernest blandly clicked his pen in and out of the sheath. The teacher was misquoting one of Euclid's stupider generalizations, and consequently it was causing the problem on the board to make spirals as opposed to the circle it was supposed to make. Ernest smiled slightly, and pushed his pen against the desk. He waited a few moments before launching it up using the spring action. Like a little rocket.
---
"Daddy, Daddy! Are you going to launch it yet?" Ernest  couldn't stifle the giggles shaking their way out of him. He was immensely excited. He and his father had recently finished a model rocket, and we planning to send it up today.  They'd driven outside the city limits and found a suitable spot. His dad was currently building the launch pad.

"Heh, not quite yet Ernie. I just have to set up the aiming rod here," Dad smiled. Dad was a man, about 6'1", well built to the point of military fitness. He had close-cropped brown hair. He was a soldier, specifically from an infantry platoon, ranking E-2. His specialty was mortars. Dad had gone into the Army to afford college, and was on leave from the Gulf War. It normally took him 22 seconds to set up, load, and aim a mortar. Mind you, he wasn't really trying to hard with the launch pad; he wanted to enjoy the time with his son.

After another three harrowing minutes for Ernest, his dad finished building the pad and loading the rocket. Ernest wanted to push the button. He and his dad punched the button , sending the miniature space-ship into the stars.

---
Ernest sighed and watched the math teacher make a fool of himself.
