Name: Kevin de la Torre
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: Senior [12th]
School: Aurora High School
Hobbies and Interests: School Newspaper, Internet and Chat Media, People Watching
Appearance: Standing at 6'0" and weighing around 140 pounds, Kevin is tall and somewhat wiry in build. Caucasian in ethnicity, his skin is a peaches-and-cream color, and his hair is jet black and cut short. It is typically disheveled and often holds a "just rolled out of bed" quality to it. His eyes are a light brown in color and are small in comparison to his facial proportions, as is his nose. His eyebrows are semi-thick in appearance, but are well groomed, and his teeth are straight and white in color. His features are angular, and overall, he's a fairly attractive guy. Kevin has no piercings, but has a small, barely noticeable scar above his left eyebrow. This scar is typically concealed by his hair, however. He doesn't bother to keep up with clothing trends, and is typically seen wearing jeans and plain colored t-shirts, mostly black in color. During winter months, he often dons dark colored hoodies or a large black coat.
Biography: Born the oldest of three children to Raphael and Keila de la Torre, Kevin's adolescent years were perfectly normal for a young man hailing from an upper middle-class family. When Kevin was 2, his twin sisters, Lucretia and Alecia were born. The twins always gained much more attention than their older brother -- something Kevin grew to resent as he got older. This lead to a somewhat strained relationship between himself and his sisters, and by the time he was around 10, he was telling them lies -- like, they were adopted, or they were copies of each other -- in some attempt to invalidate their existence.
Although he has outgrown the teasing and name-calling (for the most part), he still has something of a rivalry with his sisters. His parents, he barely sees at all, and has very little to do with. He claims he loves his family, but shows a huge disinterest in them.
Up until middle school, Kevin was a model student. He shined and stood out amongst his classmates, winning all sorts of writing and poetry awards, and excelling at sports. However, he was never particularly popular, something he claimed was by choice rather than force. He preferred to observe people, not liking to be too close, but content not to isolate himself.
Throughout middle school, Kevin came off as sort of a loner, preferring to stay in the library and study rather than interact with his fellow classmates. Even at this point in time, he found himself watching his fellow students from the library window, intrigued by their interactions with other people. He found human interactions and psychology fascinating, and it was at this point that he decided he wanted to study people as his career.
This trend continued on throughout middle school, and he found himself more and more intrigued by the people around him. He joined the school newspaper to further study and write about his classmates and the happenings within his middle school. When he found things dull around campus, he turned to the internet, trolling chatrooms and anonymously starting rumors about his peers via online media. He didn't start this hobby out of malice or hate, but out of simple curiosity. He wanted to see people's actions, and reactions, to the rumors he started as they came to life. He even started rumors about himself, simply to see other people's reactions to him after they'd heard various things about him.
After enrolling at Aurora High School, things stayed much the same for Kevin. He again found himself a part of the school's newspaper, and it didn't take long before he was up to the same old schemes again. He was always very careful of what he said and where, being sure to remain anonymous. It wouldn't be as fun, he often thought, if people knew where the rumors cropping up about them originated.
Kevin has found himself bored with classes over the past two years, and has taken to skipping them as much as he can get away with, typically blaming it on "doing something for the school paper", and because of this, his grades have declined somewhat from the straight A's he earned throughout grade school. Using the paper as an excuse to skip class only works with some teachers, however. It helps that Kevin is outwardly a very charming person, and seems to have little trouble wriggling his way into the good graces of most adults.
His reputation among his classmates is very mixed. Kevin tries to keep out of the limelight as much as possible. However, his status as a member of the school's newspaper, combined with his fairly good looks, have earned him some attention in the past -- from female classmates in particular. Despite this, he's never had a girlfriend -- or if he has, he's kept it very private. He seems to have a general disinterest in the girls in his grade, something that has led to rumors about him being gay. He neither confirms or denies these rumors, and simply lets them float around the school, much to his own amusement.
Kevin is a crafty and confident person, able to smooth talk his way out of trouble most of the time. He revels in conflict, but dislikes being a part of it. As such, he does his best to avoid fights and direct confrontation with his peers. He holds a very jolly and mocking personality, and can typically be seen laughing and making jokes with his classmates, although he never seems to get too close to any of them. He claims to like everybody, and although he has a low opinion of some of the other students at the school, he never actually seems to look down on anyone or judge them for what they do.
Advantages: Kevin, by nature, is very curious about the people around him. As such, he's spent a lot of time studying his peers. While he doesn't know super personal information about most students, he knows many of their habits and mannerisms, which could help him form alliances, avoid trouble, or even blackmail other students into following his whims. He's manipulative and cunning, and is charming enough that using other students comes naturally to him, and without much effort.
Disadvantages: Although he enjoys chaos and seeing peoples' reactions to conflict, Kevin is no fighter, and has had very little experience in terms of physical altercations. He is thin and not very muscular, so strong-arming other students is out of the question. He's also made some enemies over the course of his time at Aurora High School, simply due to his eccentric nature. He has no close friends to depend on, so any alliances would be strenuous, and his "outsider" nature may come back to haunt him if other students find they can't trust him.
