Name: Craig Collins
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Grade: Senior
School: George Hunter High School
Hobbies and Interests: Singing, gaming, talking to friends on the internet.
Appearance: Craig is relatively physically unimposing, standing just below average height at 5’10” and coming in on the heavy side at 165 pounds, most of which is from fat rather than muscle. His poor posture contributes to this image, with him often looking down or slouching serving to make him seem shorter than he really is.
He is of uncertain descent, with naturally pale skin but a fading tan that adds a light olive glow to his complexion, only marred by light red smear of acne that spreads across his forehead. His eyes are wide set, relatively large, and the irises are coloured with a warm brown hue. His hair is naturally black, and kept cut at around ear length, though he currently does not style it actively. His fringe was previously dyed with three stripes, one white, one light blue and one orange. He has not chosen to re-apply it as his hair has grown, and as such, only around half his fringe is coloured this way, with the other half being his natural hair colour, and sits just above his thick eyebrows.
Craig’s wardrobe is not something he expresses a large deal of control over, and a large amount of his clothes are purchased from either large chains such as WalMart, or from thrift stores. He tries to dress in a manner which hides this fact, constructing outfits which are simple but fashionable, hoping to avoid questions on the matter. On the day of his abduction he was wearing a loose fitting light blue-gray t-shirt, a pair of white khaki shorts and a pair of white trainers.
Biography: Craig was born on February the 18th by Sandra Collins in Nashville, Tennessee. Sandra was, at the time, involved in a relationship with a construction worker named Cody. However, their relationship had become strained during Sandra’s pregnancy, with Cody trying repeatedly to convince Sandra to get an abortion as he didn’t wish to have a child. Following the birth and a few months trying to make things work, the relationship fully disintegrated, and Cody attempted to leave the two of them to fend for themselves.
Both Sandra and Craig were forced to return to her parents home at this point for a short while, as she and her family tracked down Cody, and were forced to go to court in order to force him to pay child support. From then on, whilst payments were often late, they were consistent enough to help support the two of them. However, Cody made no effort to reconnect with Sandra or be a part of Craig’s life, which has continued until the current day.
The two of them moved a few years later to Knoxville, as Sandra was determined to support both herself and her child, and as such it was here that Craig entered the schooling system. Outside of school however, Craig spent most of his early childhood in the care of private childcare facilities whilst his mother worked. During this time Craig developed as a reputation as a mischievous child, often playing small practical jokes on his classmates and teachers, all in good humour.
This period of relative stability wasn’t to last however, and just as Craig was about to graduate to Middle School, the Collin’s were forced to move, as Sandra had lost her job as the shift manager of a local store due to their decision to downsize the staff. Following this Sandra moved back to Nashville, but found after another year that she was still relying on her parents, and decided to relocate again to Franklin.
This disruption naturally left Craig’s social life in disarray, and he dearly missed the friends he’d left behind in Knoxville, finding it hard to connect with the students at his new school. With only one year left before the transition to high school, he made little effort to do much but sit inside and play games all day, having graduated from the need for professional child care.
The transition to high school brought with it an impetus to reconnect however, as everyone was on an equally socially unsure footing as him, and he slowly found himself warming up to those around him. It was at around this time that Craig began to spend more time listening to music, predominantly pop music, and it was over this subject that he and his new group of friends bonded.
This lead to Craig trying his hand at various instruments over the course of his freshman year in the school’s after hours music club, although to minimal success, as he struggled with the hand-eye coordination needed to play fast paced music and lacked the dedication to practice. After failing to keep up playing anything for more than a few months, a teacher suggested that he try singing, mostly out of lack of other options. Craig took to this well, and whilst he was never able to take official singing lessons, he practiced and watched tutorials diligently as he found it markedly easier to keep up working on than anything he’d tried before.
Whilst his skill wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, both the teacher and Sandra encouraged him to keep it up, and during his Sophmore year he and four other students started a band called “Unknown Artist”, with him as the lead singer. The group mostly focused on producing covers of songs the band collectively liked, regardless of their genre, doing their best to create an interesting rendition with what they had. The group of them eventually entered a local band competition, and whilst never in contention for prizes at the event, Craig found he greatly enjoyed performing.
During his junior year he entered into his first romantic relationship, asking the band’s bass guitarist - a girl named Kylie - to go out with him. The two of them were inseparable for the first few months, with Craig’s copious free time and lack of adult supervision at home helping there, before the two of them cooled off and decided to remain as close friends.
Before Craig could start his final year at Franklin High School, his mother had some upsetting news to share with him; They would be moving again, in order to allow her to take a job at the Harrison Central Mall in Chattanooga, a step up from her current position in the CoolSprings Galleria Mall.
Craig argued with her about this decision, desperately wanting to stay in Franklin with his friends, however it was clear to him that his input wasn’t being taken into account. Seeing this he lashed out verbally at his mother, blaming her for what he perceived as the problems in his life, such as his poor grades and lack of a girlfriend. He lacked the recourse to change the situation however, and he soon found himself enrolled in George Hunter High School for his senior year.
Craig remained entirely socially detached from the student body of GHHS during his time in classes, preferring to try and keep in touch with his distant friends via Facebook, and playing games with them after school. He declined to try and get involved in the music scene, and still occasionally practices singing on Skype with his bandmates. However, he no longer regularly practices and as such his singing voice has slowly begun to degrade.
Craig’s grades receive a similar amount of effort, only rising to an acceptable mix of B’s and C’s after being pulled aside by his mother or the school faculty and asked to work on them specifically, before drifting down into the D’s and F’s. He currently has no plans for his future, other than intending to return to Franklin in order to rejoin his band.
Advantages: Craig is relatively poorly known by the student body, and as such has few enemies to be worried about on the island. He is also a good team player, which may help him earn new friends.
Disadvantages: Craig often responds to new enviroments and challenges by ignoring them, rather than acting decisively. He is also unfamiliar with physical activity, and will be easy to both outrun and overpower, should it come down to a hand-to-hand fight.
