SOTF Plays Tabletop 2: Blue Dragon Boogaloo

Hello! I still technically exist.

As some people might know (given there's a different thread about it next to this one) a few of us on SOTF play in a tabletop roleplaying group. We meet weekly, but because being an adult is hard, we often have to cancel our sessions when multiple people can't make it.

Because of that, and because I have lots of free time anyway, I was thinking of making another group of people who might also be interested. I don't currently have any specific rule or setting system in mind, and whether we play a single, long campaign or shorter individual ones is up to whoever ends up playing. This is more or less an interest check, to see who's available and interested in trying to play. You don't need to have any tabletop experience, but if you haven't played before and are interested, you should let me know in advance.

We'll likely be using Roll20, a free tabletop hosting site. I've been using it for years and it works very well. We'll also be using voice chat; while depending on group comfort we might keep roleplaying itself to text, I really want this to be a more active social event where we can talk and banter while we play. I also need someone willing to DM: I personally find it too stressful and anxiety-inducing to run the campaign, and that's obviously not very fun.

Regarding scheduling: I for one can do any day except Saturday because that's when my other group plays, but otherwise, I'm flexible to what works for for everyone else. If you're interested, please contact me on Discord since that's where I'll see it. I'm in the main SOTF server under the extremely original name of Espi. I need at least 3 people and at most 6. Let me know you're interested, what times you can play, and what experience (if any) you've had with tabletop RPGs of any sort. Also let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or preferences as to system or game style.

I'd love to but I'm very busy with two games on Sunday, and the only other day I'd be available is Saturday which obviously isn't happening.

It's been a year since my last trpg campaign ended, I'm up for this. At the moment I'm usually free every evening aside from Friday.

I'd be down to play or DM actually. Usually free every evening (EST) except Friday evenings.

Just so people know we've finalized this group. Sorry if you might have been interested, but that's just how things have to be I'm afraid.

Expect to hear about our shenanigans sooner or later though.

So now that our party is established, I decided to share with you. We have:

Brother Besmir-Played by polybius. Priest-librarian who may or may not have ambitions to take over the world.
Nes'sa-Played by Burn. Dinosaur pirate tentacle-mage. Is not in fact an emigrant from the 2000s era internet.
Rosemary-Played by Paige. Pastel goth faerie knight. 'Gay for fae'. Works the pole(arm). Is not sorry.
Vryn-Played by myself. Former werewolf hunter turned weretiger. Would probably listen to Linkin Park.

Wish us luck, we'll probably need it.

In a world where a divine war has ravaged the continent, a group of mercenaries is tasked with taking on undead trying to climb the walls of the last bastions of civilization...

Rosemary opens by politely asking the zombies, skeletons, and one (1) ghoul to leave.

They do not oblige. Combat ensues.

Many zombies fall or get knocked off the wall, proving gravity to be the most ruthless killer anyone has ever seen. At the end of it, the zombies and skeletons are dead, and the ghoul is running away with its arms blown off.

This campaign's off to a good start!

Tonight: talking to the captain yields pay and omens that Rosemary may have pissed off a clerk. Afterwards, there was a period of Besmir making temple-political moves, with the others hanging out at a tavern where the audience enjoyed Rosemary's unique performance. Getting an alchemist drunk, getting him to talk about his vanished student who may or may not have run off to become a necromancer commanding the armies currently attacking the city, some research into some liches who might also be behind the zombies attacking the city, and Vryn giving up and going to bed, ensues. As does many uses of disguise self for a (purely hypothetical) plan to raid the tavern's alcohol stock dreamt up by Nes'sa and Rosemary.

The tavern did not get set on fire by session's end, surprisingly. However, elven wine (or lack therof) caused as many problems.

Vryn already regrets everything.

Session 3: Full moons, weretigers, zombies, and skeletons, oh my!

Featuring magic elven warning flowers! Said zombies and skeletons performing a suspiciously coordinated ambush! Nes'sa and her tentacles proving that crowd control is really useful!

to be fair the weretiger was actually a good thing in this case.
