Re-Do, Round Two

She'd been humming for as long as she could, shaking, fearful notes that only the trees around her could her.
'This Little Light of Mine',
because it was the only one she knew, a remnant of her childhood, a history of sharing the bed with Cassidy at night and following along with their mom. Just a bittersweet memory.
Because anything was better than the silence, anything was better than letting herself think, than looking at herself after hearing all the names on the announcements of kids that could have, should have, been.
But instead, it was her.
And instead of kids who would've, or could have, done something, it was her, burrowed into the thick underbrush, sharp brambles cutting into her wearied flesh, for as long as she could remember. Aimless.
Without purpose.
