Name: Harper Keir
Position: Music Teacher/Band Director
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Appearance: Mr. Keir is a young, Caucasian man with tanned skin, short blonde hair, and blue eyes. He is 5'10" tall and of average build, weighing 165 pounds. He dresses stylishly and in a trendier manner than most of his colleagues, sometimes skirting the line of professionalism; parents especially have often been taken aback by Mr. Keir's multiple ear piercings and the sleeve tattoo that is visible if he rolls up his shirtsleeves. At concerts and other special occasions where he directs the school band, he will dress up in colorful suits and ties. He speaks with a distinct southern twang, something especially noticeable among the other faculty.
Biography/Personality: Born and raised in Nashville until he relocated to New England for college, Mr. Keir is relatively new to both the Salem area and John Endecott Memorial Academy. He is somewhat inexperienced compared to other teachers his age, due to the fact that he took time off between high school and college and thus only received his teaching certification recently. He previously held the position of assistant band director. When his predecessor, the well-liked Mr. Mosser, quit on short notice due to disputes with the school administration about the budget and the treatment of the arts department, the school opted to promote Mr. Keir rather than hiring a replacement.
It is obvious to many that Mr. Keir is out of his depth and floundering with the responsibility that has been foisted onto him, struggling to deal with disgruntled students and a lack of help, as the school also neglected to hire any new assistant teachers. Though he cares for his students, he has already quietly started to consider leaving John Endecott Memorial if he finds a suitable position elsewhere. When classes are going well, however, he proves to be an engaging and enthusiastic teacher and director. He favors arrangements of contemporary pop and classic rock music, as opposed to more classical pieces, and is especially fond of the school's jazz band.
Mr. Keir rarely goes out and socializes on his days off, preferring to stay home and decompress by playing video games and spending time with his boyfriend, Julian, and their two dogs. He is likewise not very close with any of his coworkers, something compounded by the stress that he is under at work.
