the theme is
holidaytest
any song themed in some way or some manner, be it lyrical, melodical, vibe-ical, or any way in between, about an end-of-year holiday (christmas, kwanzaa, hanukkah, new year's, festivus, etc) is fair game. if the theme can only be discerned from the music video it doesn't count
[+] the other rules
No songs used from a past contest!
Be polite in chat about song contest because the people who submit the songs are also human beings! Anyone who removes this rule is rude!
If you can't be here for one of the semis, let me know and I'll try to put you into the opposite round!

If you're in a round or public-voting, listen to every song and give points to your top 10 favorites: 12 to your favorite, 10 to your second, 8 to your third, 7 to your fourth, and so on down to 1 point for your tenth favorite.
If your song is in a given round, you must vote that round or you'll be eliminated. if your song isn't in that round (or you aren't in the contest at all), your vote will be counted as a public vote, which counts for half points.
Send me your votes via Board or Discord DM: I can't guarentee I'll see it if you don't.

With the votes tabulated, I'll put my thoughts here.

Also whoops I forgot to give my vote for Last Christmas so just know it would have been my seven if I hadn't seen the already-clicked link and assumed I had already watched the video.
[+] HOLIDAYTEST Votes
12:

Don't Shoot Me Santa - The Killers.

This song was really catchy, and I enjoyed it enough to want to listen to it again right away.

10:

Marley and Marley - Statler and Waldorf.

I love the rhyme scheme, as well as the way it ties itself to the story of A Christmas Carol, and the instrumental was superb. Sad that it's so short.

8:

Mr. Heatmiser - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

I like the faithful parts of the song since it draws from two of my favorite Christmas songs, but the points where it diverges lyrically drag it down somewhat as they hurt the rhyme scheme.

7:

Just Like Christmas - Low.

I really liked the verses and instrumental. The one problem was the overly-repetitive chorus.

[NOTE: Last Christmas - Wham! would have gone here if I hadn't made a mistake, bumping everything from 7 onward down on the list down by one.]

6:

We Three Kings - Ella Fitzgerald

It's fine, but I don't feel compelled to listen to it more.

5:

All I Want for Christmas Is You - My Chemical Romance

The instrumental is fine but otherwise, it's okay at best.

4:

Dominick The Donkey - Lou Monte

It's a classic, but it's my least favorite of the classic bunch. I hate the hee-haw with a burning passion, and I don't have the same nostalgia for it as I do for other songs.

3:

Wrap Me Up - Jhené Aiko

This song is more about sex than it is about Christmas. This is the HOLIDAYTEST, not the HORNYTEST.

2:

Snow Dream - Apple Jam

I can't understand the lyrics and there aren't any translations. Otherwise, it's fine.

1:

Making Christmas - Pentatonix.

I liked some aspects of this song, but other parts, like the vocals, were very off-putting. I don't think it's my type of music.

0:

Hope - Friday Night Funkin: Soft OST.

Musically, it's fine, but I have no idea how it relates to Christmas in any way. I feel like I'm missing a lot of the context.

0:

The Ice of Boston - The Dismemberment Plan.

It felt like the singer talked more than he sang, and the relatively minimal lyrics were neither catchy nor adequately holiday-themed.
