((S026 Dawn Montogomery - Start))

The first important thing when making a snowman was to wear gloves.

Otherwise, your hands would freeze before you even finished the first ball.

Thankfully, she had a spare pair in her luggage, intended to be worn once the bus reached their destination.

Dawn Montogomery was going to die.

To be fair, this had always been a known fact. Every living being eventually died, after all. But suddenly, "eventually" was replaced with more concrete dates like "maybe today" or "within the next two weeks".

The second important thing when making a snowman was the vision.

You should have a picture of your snowman in mind before starting the process of creation.

She had one.

Dawn Montogommery was going to die.

With all the things that happened to Anna, Dawn should have been prepared. And she kind of had. "What would you do if today was your last day?" Was a thought experiment she went through more than once, each time coming up with a more precise answer.

None of her answers involved SOTF.

The third important thing when making a snowman was to find a good place with lots of snow.

Well, given the island, this was no issue.

Dawn Montogomery was going to die.

She didn't knew much about SOTF aside from common knowledge. She had never watched any streams. She had never read any literature about the topic. But she still had a picture of what was going to happen to her class.

The fourth important thing when making a snowman was to get the proportions right.

The ball in the middle being bigger than the lowest one would easily trigger the Uncanny Valley effect. Same went for the head being too similar to the two balls forming the torso.

She wasn't the most proficient at this, but her first attempt passed.

Dawn Montogomery was going to die.

One thing that all of her plans had in common was that she wanted to do something worthwhile. She didn't want to just run and hide, hoping that everyone would die around her. She didn't want to hurt others who were just victims like her. She didn't want to seal her fate as a stubborn sign of resistance that Danya and his minions would only laugh about.

The fifth important thing when making a snowman was related to creating the face, but Dawn skipped this part.

Dawn Montogomery had built a snowman.

It was by no means an exceptional one. She remembered doing better in her childhood. She didn't care, since it served its purpose regardless.

On this island, where tragedy would soon bloom, Dawn had created something unrelated to SOTF or her classmates or her upcoming demise. Something that no one occupied with just surviving would have done. Something that she had decided to do.

She felt a bit better now.

With this business concluded, she picked up her two bags and departed the scene. Dawn's clock had started ticking, and she would savour every second as long as she was able to.

Very soon, a lone snowman was left on the field.
