Formerly kept clear by the foot passage back and forth between the different halves of the island, the lower mountain pass has become a wasteland of loose rocks, potholes, and overgrown plants, making it take effort to navigate. As the former connecting path between the research station and the village on the side of the island, the lower mountain pass is still easy to follow and is wider with barriers on its steeper sides to help the people that used to make use of it. While obviously at a lower elevation than the upper mountain pass, the lower pass is still raised above other parts of the island; if one was to leave the path and follow the slopes down, they would find themselves either on the old road or in the tundra forest.

((Crystal Henderson continued from Passing The Baton))

For a while, Crystal existed. That was the most that could be said. She was empty, it felt like. On autopilot.

The problem was, there was no destination and no familiarity.

She changed her bandages. Had she been keeping up with that until now? She couldn't remember. She couldn't even worry properly. It was idle curiosity, and when it could not be satisfied, that didn't rate much of a reaction either.

The alcohol stung terribly as it poured against and through the hole in her hand. The flecks of bone visible amid the torn muscle felt like something that should've been distressing or concerning, but there wasn't even distress at the lack of distress. The pain was there and she felt it, but that was just a fact. She cried, but she didn't feel like she was crying. The muddy red of the bloodied bandages was just a color.

The wilderness was vast and cold. Crystal was very small, and very far away inside herself.

She might have slept in there. She might not have. Maybe she was just in a dissociative haze for a while.

She wasn't really sure about anything, except that when she finally started to come back to herself, it was now instead of then.

Her feet were moving.

Her mind was starting to too.
