What Was The Point Of All This?

(Chester Folk, continued from What Do We Do Now?)
Chester had spent the eighth day wandering around, injured and cold. The blood seeping from his wounds had become sticky. His vision was blurry thanks to the head trauma that had been inflicted upon him. Fatigued, he found his way to a housing area and snuck inside a home through an open window.
The house looked incredibly retro. Like something out of an old sitcom. Chester rested on the old couch in the living room. He sat there, thinking back to his plan for an SOS fire, and how it all went horribly wrong.
Aion. Amos. Perante. The guys he met on his first day here. They were all dead. Chester had dragged around Perante until they separated, never asking about how he felt. If Chester had asked Perante if he was doing okay, maybe he wouldn’t have walked into a danger zone. Instead, he was focused on a plan that went nowhere.
His head was killing him. He had forgotten his belongings at the sheriff’s office, including the first aid kit. So, he had nothing to treat his wounds. Or at least mediate the pain. Chester drifted off to sleep, the injuries on head and back becoming strangely numb.
------
Chester had a dream. He was back at home with his family. His mother, father, and brother were huddled around the television, playing a game. Chester had always loved gaming with his family, ever since he was a child. It made for a lot of fun and humorous memories.
Then came a knock at the front door. Chester went to answer it. When he opened it, there standing before him were Perante, Aion, and Amos. Happy to see them, he invited them inside. Chester returned to playing with his family, his friends watching.
Chester’s character in the game had grabbed a power up and was about unleash a powerful attack.
“Watch this guys!,” said Chester to his friends.
He pressed the button on his controller and a bright light engulfed the room, followed by…
Nothing.
