In Search of Adventure!

Hello friends!

I've noticed a fair few concepts floating around that are either definitely or possibly into tabletop games, but most of the talk about it has been pretty individual and bilateral. Thus, this thread! A place to figure out in a more collective manner who plays what with whom!

Tangentially to this, perhaps there's a club/society for it at the school? It hasn't come up as yet in clubs/teams discussion, but it might exist. Maybe it was already there, maybe it was founded by one of us, who's to say? But that kind of thing is worth discussing here too. Part of the reason I bring this up is that I'm going to include a little form for what sort of interests your concept has, which need not only be a meta thing, maybe it's an actual questionnaire used by said club!

Code: Select all

Name:
DM?:
System(s) of choice:
Role(s) of choice:
Other notes:
And my contributions to such:

Name: Artemis Cavallo
DM?: Yes
System(s) of choice: Blades in the Dark, World of/Chronicles of Darkness, Dungeons & Dragons/Pathfinder
Role(s) of choice: If not DM, tends towards intellectual characters (Wizards, Bards, Whispers, Spiders, Tremere, Mekhet, kind of vibes)
Other notes: Unlikely to make it to V9 proper, possibly to be adopted off before pregame if anyone wants her, so... don't pin a lot to this concept as yet

Name: Hope Hynes
DM?: No
System(s) of choice: Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, World Wide Wrestling, Masks, Dungeons & Dragons/Pathfinder
Role(s) of choice: Likes to be front and centre, heroic, and charismatic (Paladins, Rockerboys, The Legacy, The Protegé, face-types that can fight)
Other notes: More the sort that might be interested if asked rather than the type to seek a game out; has adjacent interests and would probably find a particular pleasure in the tactility of rolling dice. Can provide a comfy playing space in the form of a function room at her parents' bar.

Name: Leah-Kim "L.K." Mitchell
DM?: No
System(s) of choice: Dungeons & Dragons/Pathfinder, Legend of the Five Rings
Role(s) of choice: LK's the type to mess about and bring a degree of comic relief - possibly too much - leans towards anything that can have big impact, involves big risk-reward plays, or can mess with expectations (Rogues, Warlocks, Wild Magic Sorcerers, Duelists, Courtiers)
Other notes: Similar to Hope in being more of an outsider, though more liable to actively seek out a group / less in need of a specific invitation, as a result of playing Baldur's Gate or the L5R card game at some point. Possibly kind of annoying at the table, may need reminding to let others take the spotlight.

Name: Taylor Olson-Chen
DM?: Yes
System(s) of choice: Anything really, but prefer Dungeons & Dragons/Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Lancer, monster of the Week, world of Darkness, Mörk Borg, Masks
Role(s) of choice: Tends to pick classes that compliment the party, but prefers those that mess with reality. (Sorcerers, Bards, Warlocks, Magic and Tech users)
Other notes: More focused on having them and their players having a good time than following the rules. Sometimes, when they feel that things are boring will spice things up to middling results. Homebrews often. Get's very in character, sometimes even cosplaying as a character. Can provide Their home as a meeting spot. Whenever they play bard they actually play the instrument(often poorly).

Oh, I completely missed this thread. Oops

Name: Koa Tagaloa
DM?: No
System(s) of choice: Primarily Dungeons and Dragons 5E, Savage Worlds and World Wide Wrestling, but he's open to trying just about anything.
Role(s) of choice: Varies depending on the party, but he's primarily a roleplayer first and foremost with a tendency towards eccentric characters. He currently has a Goblin Moon Druid and a Tabaxi Drunken Master on standby.
Other notes: Backstory wise he was introduced to roleplaying by friends he made at school, so very much down to have him join any TTRPG groups that end up forming. He's also into board/card games, with One Night Ultimate Werewolf being his favourite.

(this is more of a meta post but, here? 🤔)
Name: Travis d'Amèl
DM: No
System(s) of choice: Call of Cthulhu, Paranoia, Apocalypse World, D&D 5e
Role(s) of choice: Varies, due to him valuing roleplay, and a class that would fit his characters more than a set class; when he doesn't do this however he favours balanced classes or utility ones (Detective, Driver, Bard)
Other notes: Turns out that he's the worst kind of powerplayer when he doesn't care of roleplaying. 😭
On a more serious side, he may have been introduced by her sister via online boards and streaming channels, and sometimes roleplays with her? This is just a last-minute idea, so yeah.

Name: James Scott
DM?: No
System(s) of choice: Is blissfully unaware of any systems other than D&D 5e
Role(s) of choice: Fighters, paladins, spellcaster builds with a focus on battlefield control
Other notes: Casual TTRPG player- got involved through his more committed interest in wargaming and miniatures. Likes a dungeon crawl, tends to nod off during prolonged roleplay sections. Exclusively plays lawful good characters. Slightly powergamey but doesn’t take things too seriously and is generally just there for a good time.

by Yonagoda
Name: Johannes Morell
DM?: Possibly, would prefer not to
System(s) of choice: dnd, blades in the dark, willing to learn new systems if he can. Also into warhammer.
Role(s) of choice: Prefers ranged classes with some versatility; combat minmaxer. Currently thinking of a sorcerer and a rogue.
Other notes: Not too RP heavy, keeps backstory elements to himself.

by Survival Chances
Name: Thomas Shaw
DM?: Definitely
System(s) of choice: DND, Blades In The Dark, Fiasco, and Fate. Thomas is willing to learn any other.
Role(s) of choice: When not a DM, Thomas likes to create charismatic characters who are good at talking. Usually, when the campaign is fighting-oriented his character becomes the silly punching bag.
Other notes: Thomas is a person who is big on roleplaying, but is fine when others don't. He has a tricky habit of knowing what not to do when playing TTRPGs but will accidentally do them when he doesn't realize it until right after.

Name: Maggie Wilfred
DM?: No
System(s) of choice: DND, Magic: The Gathering, Perfect Draw
Role(s) of choice: When making a character, Maggie will always default to being “The Heart”, often making precious characters that vibe with their surroundings and in general being sweeties.
Other notes: Maggie brings cookies on occasion, usually baked by her parents!

by ViolentMedic
Name: Zachariah "Zach" Webb
DM?: Yes
System(s) of choice: Call of Cthulhu, Aliens the RPG, DnD/Pathfinder
Role(s) of choice: He will lean towards anything that is either flexible and has a lot of skills - rogues in DnD/Pathfinder, for example - or something where he can go hard on the horror. If the characters are pre-made he will grab the one who has the most room to be A Problem.
Other notes: Zach is a bit of a nuisance as a player if unprepared because he will be the one to attempt the outrageous or potentially backstab fellow players (though he's not fully unreasonable and loves getting backstabbed back). As a DM however he is harsh but fair - he enjoys hard games but he wants to see people do well, if not survive. It's why he loves Aliens the RPG - it specifically encourages players acting against each other.

Also, I have been pondering a thread specifically running the Aliens oneshot that comes with the current version of the manual, which would need five players as well as a (probably Zach) DM. >:3 it's a simple enough one that it could probably be wholly done in a thread.
