Name: Laurie Richmond
Position: Special Ed Teacher
Gender: Female
Age: 46
Appearance: Mrs. Richmond is a rather small woman, standing only 4' 11" and weighing only about 110 lbs. Her thinness comes off as frail rather than athletic. She has shoulder-length jet-black hair, with a sheen that betrays the fact that it's been frequently dyed and no longer natural. She has dark eyes, and wears thick-framed glasses when reading, but otherwise keeps them perched on her forehead. She has a warm, kind smile. She often dresses conservatively, in sweaters and blouses. When her neck is exposed, the top of a vertical scar can be seen on her breastbone - the remnant of a heart surgery over a decade back.
Biography/Personality: Laurie Richmond grew up in Los Angeles. She originally had her sights set on becoming an actress, and studied theater at USC. Despite showing some promise, she never managed to break into the industry, and went back to school. She had quite enjoyed the psychological aspect of character acting, and this led her to pursue studies in psychology and behavioral studies; this in turn led her to explore development, and she eventually wound up branching into education, specializing in educational strategies for students with exceptionalities. She met and married her husband in 2004, moving to Las Vegas shortly after.
Laurie is a warm, caring individual. She has no children of her own, but is very fond of young people. She is firm but very patient, and always willing to take time after class to speak to any students who are having difficulties in school life. Many of her students have been known to keep in touch with her after they graduate. She is a passionate advocate for the special education program, and tends to express frustration with the emphasis the school places on athletics, seeing the situation as creating potential inequalities for her students.
