Songtest #146: EGOT
Posted: Mon Dec 23, 2024 12:52 am
Hello everyone!
Coming off my win in the last songtest, I'm ready to explore what it means to be a winner. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication to your craft, continuous improvement, and one hell of a PR campaign to make your music decorated. So for this contest, I want this to be all about the winners, but to go for those who are 1/4 of the way to one of the biggest titles you can achieve in your lifetime.
For this songtest, you must submit a song that has won one of these four distinctions. These can either be a specific song or a piece of score from an award-winning piece of work. To help you out, I will provide some links for research, as well as some special provisos depending on whether your song won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, or Tony, as there are some specific conditions for each.
* If you want to submit an Emmy-winning song, you may submit from either one of the three score categories, or you may submit a full title theme or an original song written for a show.
* If you want to submit a Grammy-winning song, you may submit any individual song that has won. To help narrow, I won't accept songs that were off Grammy-winning albums unless the song specifically won an award (ex. Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia album won Best Pop Album, but none of the songs on it won Grammys on their own, so those don't count). There are numerous categories that are song/performance specific and by genre, so browse here for ideas.
* If you want to submit an Oscar-winning song, please choose winners from Best Original Song or Best Original Score.
* If you want to submit a Tony-winning song, because Tony's don't give awards for songs on their own, you may select from any musical that has won one of these four awards related to shows, or a song from something that won in the score category.
* Lastly, it should be obvious, but this is solely for those who have won one of the four awards, not nominees. As long as it's easy for me to verify that it won (you may provide justification in your submission), it should be fine.
Due to the holiday period, I will give folks until 11 pm EST on Thursday, January 2nd to submit. You may send via board PM or Discord DM, and feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Let's get some gold!

SONGTEST #146: EGOT
For those who don't know what that is, an EGOT is a distinction for any artist or creative type who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony in their lifetime. It's a rare distinction that, as of this contest, only 27 individuals have won.For this songtest, you must submit a song that has won one of these four distinctions. These can either be a specific song or a piece of score from an award-winning piece of work.
