Appearance: Ms. Ruby is a tall, hefty woman, standing at 5'11" and weighing around 190 pounds. She is a pale-skinned Caucasian with dark brown eyes and salt-and-pepper hair which she routinely dyes jet black and keeps in a short, cropped pixie cut. She dresses conservatively but stylishly, favoring cardigans in shades of red, dark blue, and black, with matching slacks, sensible shoes, long necklaces, and a number of rings on her fingers. She is always seen wearing a pair of tortoiseshell cat-eye glasses which are accentuated with a beaded chain on the earpieces. In addition to being a striking and easily-recognizable figure in the halls, Ms. Ruby is known for her loud voice and signature Bostonian accent, which often precedes her appearance.

Biography/Personality: Ms. Ruby has been a fixture at John Endecott Memorial Academy for over 30 years, teaching English at various levels, and intimidating students for much of that time with her overwhelming presence. She is boisterous and energetic when teaching, and she treats the students in her senior class with a level of candor and respect that many do not, treating them much more like young adults than children. She is perhaps the only teacher on John Endecott Memorial's current roster who can get away with swearing in class, and her general attitude endears her to those who don't find her simply overwhelming. She is also not afraid to rip into troublemakers in front of the class, however, and those who come into her classroom thinking that she is just a "fun" teacher who won't get serious quickly realize their mistake. Though she likes to joke that she plans on retiring whenever it will cause the most trouble for the school administration, Ms. Ruby remains as dedicated to her job as ever and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Prior to taking up her teaching position, she was married, but that ended not too long into her career. She never remarried or even began dating again, instead choosing to focus fully on teaching. She doesn't speak much about her long-ago marriage, but if the topic ever comes up, she will firmly remind others that she is Ms. Ruby and nobody's Mrs. She has one adult daughter, Marcia, who occasionally drops by the school to visit (and sometimes deliver baked goods for Ms. Ruby's classes despite it being against school policy), and three grandchildren that she loves to spoil. She is a fan of classic cars and frequently attends car shows with friends or her daughter in her off time.
