S029 - Oliveira, Mônica “Molly”

#1

Post by Ruggahissy »

Name: Mônica “Molly” Oliveira
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12th
School: John Endecott Memorial Academy
Hobbies and Interests: Video games, tabletop games, miniature collecting and creation, fashion, cosplay, cheerleading

Appearance: Molly is a tall girl of Brazilian descent, standing at 5'9", and weighs 132lb with a slender, well-toned frame due to regular exercise and cheerleading activities. She has a long, oval face with soft cheeks and a sharp jaw, and round, dark brown eyes. Her olive skin is kept clear with numerous products, or covered by make-up when it breaks out. She has long, black hair that is wild and curly, and reaches past her shoulders. She usually leaves it loose.

Molly keeps up with fashion, and often rotates her style based on it. Regardless of fashion, she prefers bright colors, utilizes bangles and necklaces regularly, and often wears game-related t-shirts or accessories amid her fashion. Her make-up choices vary by current fashions but generally include brightly-coloured eyeshadow, and lip gloss.

On the day of the abduction, Molly was wearing a sunshine-yellow ruana over a black, form-fitting sweater, a black t-shirt and tight, blue jeans. She had dark brown boots on, black gloves, a yellow knitted newsboy cap that matched the ruana in color, and a necklace of chain-mail links that had clasped within them a set of translucent, sky blue roleplaying dice. For make-up she had gold eye-shadow, and some lightly applied lip gloss.

Biography: Mônica ‘Molly’ Oliveira was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Matheus and Fernanda Oliveira. She is a middle child in a large family, with an older brother Rodrigo, an older sister Aline, a fraternal twin brother Lúcio, and four younger sisters Vivian, Carolina, Lorena, and Natália. Molly's parents originally lived in Brazil before emigrating to the United States, and they co-own a large amount of corporate and real estate investments that they inherited from their parents, which is the family's entire income. Their investments have remained productive, earning $180,000 on average per year, and the family lives a comfortable, upper middle-class lifestyle despite its size.

Materially, Molly has never wanted for anything, being allowed almost anything she asked for provided that she behaved well in repayment. However, as a side effect of having such a large family, and being one of six girls and a twin on top of that, Molly often feels neglected since the attention is split between so many of the family. This is enhanced by her twin, as Lúcio gets a lot of individual attention due to a combination of being one of only two boys in the family, and because he had a tendency to try and make people laugh or cheer up, which naturally drew attention to him even outside of the family. Her parents paid lots of attention to their family as a whole, seeing as they didn’t need to work, but the amount of attention given to Molly seemed, in her own eyes, to be a low percentage of attention overall.

Molly has sought attention from any source she could get it from since she was very young, which largely amounted to a lot of demands to be looked at when she talked, did cartwheels and such. She was a rather clingy, needy child as a result. She was also very sociable and had a large amount of friends from an early age, ensuring that she always had someone to go to, and so that clingy behavior tended to be transferred from one person to another, making it less obvious at a glance.

Molly’s primary hobby when she was younger, which has persisted throughout her life, was video games, with a particular enjoyment of RPGs and fantasy-themed games, especially those containing customizable characters. She enjoys both multiplayer, as it gives her interaction with other people, and single-player games where she’s tasked with important goals and gets to be the hero. Though she prefers fantasy-themed RPGs, she will give most games a go and has a heavily varied collection, and spends many evenings playing MMOs with her friends, gravitating towards healer roles when available.

During their time in Boston, Molly had a tendency to cling to Lúcio as her most common source of company, despite occasional bitterness over his tendency to draw attention to himself through his comedic antics. Shortly after they both entered 5th grade, however, their parents decided to move to Salem, in order to live in a quieter city. Molly used the chance to distance herself from her brother's social circle, in an attempt to stand out on her own. As Lúcio had a harder time adjusting to the move and leaving his old friends behind, Molly got a head start on befriending children in their new school, and this reduced some of her general clingy behavior and bitterness towards Lúcio. She still gravitates towards him often for company, but tends to do that mostly outside of school.

Molly leans towards activities that allow her to show off. When, in middle school, her parents pressured her to take up a more physical activity at school, cheerleading was the natural choice. She enjoys the experience of being in a team, as long as she’s not swept to the side, and being in a cheerleading team ensures that’s not a possibility since it requires the whole group to function. She is a spotter, and holds light envy for flyers in cheerleading. However, it is currently an impossibility for her to learn how, as she’s afraid of heights and finds it terrifying to be flung up.

Molly was introduced to tabletop games during middle school by a classmate, who wanted another person for their Dungeons and Dragons campaign and was struggling to find one. Molly joined initially just to help out and socialize, but quickly became enamored with the game for similar reasons that she enjoys video games but with the added bonus of more flexibility, imagination, and more varying situations. She has played a few different tabletop games by now, but Dungeons & Dragons remains her preferred one.

This directly spiraled into her collecting miniatures. She collects them from a range of sources, whether ordering them online, scouring stores for them, or using a 3D printer to make her own. She enjoys the process of painting them, finding it relaxing, and freely loans out her collection to friends who run tabletop games as she prefers not to run games herself, preferring the role of a player.

In her last year of middle school, she started to examine developing her style, both due to vanity and due to realising fashion was an easy way to stand out at a glance. She developed an interest in fashion in the process, and this developed into attempts to alter her own clothes on the occasions where she’d have trouble finding the exact type of skirt or jacket she wanted. Over the course of high school, and some sewing lessons outside of it, she’s become better at doing so and moved into making things from scratch. Though she still buys the majority of her clothes, those clothes are often edited or complimented by something home-made.

This has since mixed with her interest in video games, and resulted in regular attempts at cosplaying. Combined with easily being able to share her cosplays through social media, this has earned her a small following on Instagram and TikTok. Molly sticks largely to cosplays that fit her general appearance, which does limit her since the majority of characters in her preferred games are white or otherwise pale. Molly has made a few outfits connected to characters that don’t resemble her, but hasn’t worn them openly yet. She sees no personal problem in doing so, but is aware of the more toxic parts of the internet that would, and considers it easier to sidestep the issue by not risking it. Recent cosplays include Josephine from Dragon Age: Inquisition, which took up the majority of the last few months due to her inexperience with creating formal wear, and Laura from Street Fighter under request from Danielle Bird, a friend with similar cosplaying interests.

Molly was raised Catholic by her parents, and remains a staunch churchgoer to this day, and regularly helps out with charity and fundraisers run by the local church. Despite this, she considers a lot of rules outdated, even if she continues to abide by Catholic law when possible.

Molly does well at school, being a B-average student, but isn't concerned with being any better at academics, though she gets high grades in Art and PE. An easy life of inherent wealth has left her unconcerned about the future, and she doesn't stress about it much. She has considered what she wants to do, and currently either wants to study fashion design at college, or to become a model. She has worked on portfolios for both, but also has no particular urge to rush through doing so, working on it as her whims dictate and switching between the two depending on which idea appeals more to her at the time.

Molly is energetic, bubbly, and nearly always in a cheerful mood. She is heavily sociable and friendly, and will open up a conversation with nearly anyone at random. She experiences little judgement towards others, and gives little regard to popularity when picking who to talk to. However, despite her own lack of personal judgement, she tends to ignore bullying or conflict going on around her, finding it tiresome and awkward to deal with, and simply gravitates away from talking about conflict and drama. She does delight in cheering people up, but not in talking about why they were sad to begin with. Having led a charmed life, she believes that things will work themselves out without her input.

Though she still struggles with wanting more attention than she receives from her family, and with some suppressed bitterness towards her brothers in particular for having an easier time of it, outside of that Molly is fond of her family and often looks out for her numerous younger sisters when they need help with homework or video games. Though she's a positive influence in most regards, she tends to send them in the direction of others if they're truly upset or concerned about something. Her older siblings, Rodrigo and Aline, dote on her in a similar fashion to how Molly dotes on her younger siblings. Of all the members of her family, she’s still closest with Lúcio despite not being as clingy as she was in her youth. They both retain high enough levels of popularity but in different circles, with Lúcio being involved with bodybuilding and lacrosse, while Molly's activities center around cheerleading, cosplaying and gaming. This keeps Molly's jealousy of Lúcio's ease with people at minimal levels.

Molly’s ire is difficult to gain, and rarely lasts even when she does get annoyed. She is prone to jealousy when seeing someone do well in something she cares about, such as cheerleading or gaming, which sometimes inspires a competitive streak in her. Though she can be a sore loser on occasion, she is a believer in fair play and never tries to get ahead at the expense of other’s well-being.

Molly enjoys dating, and has dated a variety of guys and had many boyfriends. The majority of these relationships only last a couple of weeks at most. This has given her a loose reputation, as she tends to dump boys quickly and move on even quicker. However, though she has kissed many of them, she takes the concept of going further seriously, partially due to her Catholic upbringing, and generally dumps others before she gets close to even thinking about whether she wants to go further or not.

Advantages: Molly is fit from her cheerleading activities, and has a significant amount of friends, giving her a wider range of potential allies. She’s a friendly person who’s unlikely to cause stress in a group.
Disadvantages: Molly’s tendency to try and avoid drama rather than deal with it means she’ll likely have trouble adjusting to the reality of the game. Her clingy tendencies and her need to be appreciated will cause strain when she’s left on her own. Her flightiness means she may have offended others without realising it in the past, causing potential grudges she is oblivious to. Molly is afraid of heights, giving her a disadvantage in tall locations.

Designated Number: Student No. 029

Designated Weapon: Zweihander

Conclusion: This is the name of a weapon? I thought maybe that cat in the office walked across the keyboard. Well, maybe this girl will like it since it seems like a sword that would be in a fantasy story. - Abby Soto
