#1

Post by Buko »

Name: Joan Leaven
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: 12th
School: John Endecott Memorial Academy
Hobbies and Interests: Video Editing, Cross Country, Honor Society

Appearance: Joan Leaven has curly brown hair that goes down to shoulder blades and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 115 lbs. She has an athletic build with an average bust, evenly distributed weight, skinny arms, and long legs. She has light skin, with a nose of average length and width. Her normal dress is relatively sporty, most of the time wearing sweatshirts and t-shirts above the waist, and jeans or yoga pants below the waist with sneakers on her feet. On the day she was abducted, she was wearing an oversized periwinkle Yosemite National Park sweatshirt over a gray JEM Cross Country T-shirt and black jeans and white Air Force Ones.

Biography: Joan Leaven was born on April 22, 2004 to Mark and Stacey Leaven in Peabody, Massachusetts. Mark is a project manager for a robotics company while Stacey is a social media manager. She has one brother, Gareth, who is three years her junior. In her early childhood, she grew up in a decently-sized apartment in Danvers. Over the period of her early childhood through grade school, she had many friends with whom she actively played in neighborhood with. Her favorite activities were camping with her family and ice skating lessons which she continued up to the start of high school, which she started due to the number of friends she had that also were in ice skating.

In middle school, Joan had a vibrant social life. This was due to her diverse interests and wide range of friends, the former of which came from her desire to "play the field" in terms of extracurricular activities by signing up for many clubs that caught her interest in an effort to find solid interests. For athletic pursuits, she joined the track and cross-country teams in sixth grade due to the slight similarity to skating, as all three are similar lower body-based sports. Outside of athletics, Joan joined the math team and the robotics club due to her father's involvement in robotics. When she was free, she would frequently be hanging out with her friends. This was mostly on the weekends, as Stacey put pressure on Joan to take on more responsibilities starting at this point, giving her numerous chores such as doing her laundry, loading the dishwasher, or cleaning the bathroom, in addition to doing her homework, before she could do anything recreational over the week.

When Joan was in eighth grade, Mark got a promotion at his company, allowing the family to purchase a larger home in nearby Salem. As a result, Joan started attending John Endecott Memorial as a freshman. As in middle school, she was able to make friends easily and joined many extracurricular activities. In freshman year, she joined the cross-country team, and the math club. While she only stayed with the math club for her freshman year, having to drop it and ice skating due to the time commitments of her other activities, on the cross country team she is consistently one of the five scoring members. In junior year, she joined the honor society due to her good grades. She has a pretty good social life, mostly with girls from her classes and from the cross country team.

COVID-19 was a slightly difficult time for Joan. Since she preferred and was used to going out and having some kind of face-to-face human contact, the fact that she was mostly locked in the house made her somewhat depressed, an issue that she was able to power through by taking runs through the neighborhood and by starting to roller skate, a continuation of her former ice skating days. It was over this time that she also joined the broadcasting club – in an effort to have something else to do, since the sports teams were put on hold. Joan joined one of her friends in broadcasting, helping make short video sketches that she was entertained by. When school returned to an in-person format, she continued with the broadcasting club, helping to shoot and edit the videos that the club made.

Socially, Joan is a very social person, with a return to in person learning boosting her morale as compared to the pandemic. She has a wide range of friends and enjoys doing activities with others as opposed to idly talking or hanging out. Academically, Joan gets straight As, and her favorite subject is history. While she studies more than she needs to, she enjoys using critical thinking in history, and is very good at writing down a cogent, coherent opinion in her assigned essays. She has a slightly rocky relationship with her mother due to the pressures that Stacey puts on Joan. Joan believes that the chores she is assigned are too onerous on top of school and her extracurriculars, which she goes to on her own initiative and has learned to manage. Stacey, on the other hand, believes that the chores are a necessary part of being an adult. The relationship with her father is better and more relaxed, and apart from the occasional fight, she is mostly friends with Gareth. At this point, she has been accepted to UMass Amherst, where she plans on studying to be a video editor.

Advantages: Joan is reasonably intelligent with special consideration towards critical thinking and due to her studying and essay writing. She is also quite athletic due to running long distances, giving her good speed and endurance. Socially, she has good social skills with a decent social net and ability to make allies.
Disadvantages: Joan's activities have given her low upper body strength. She also prefers contact with other people, and the possible necessity of spending time in the game alone may cause issues for her and make her listless

Conclusion: What're you going to do if people aren't as big of fans of being in contact with you? The only time you're safe in this game is when you're finally alone. - Jim Greynolds
