S104 - Stark, Jezzie

#1

Post by Ruggahissy »

Name: Jezzie Miranda Stark
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Grade: 12
School: John Endicott Memorial Academy
Hobbies and Interests: Fashion, acting, singing, listening to pop music

Appearance: Jezzie has a rectangular body type, standing at 5 feet even and weighing 95 pounds, being slightly underweight. She is of Caucasian descent, with neutral, sandy skin and mocha brown hair that she’s styled into a low rope braid and reaches the tips of her shoulder blades. Her face is oval shaped with dark brown downturned eyes, thin straight eyebrows, a small nose, uneven downturned lips, and skin that is mostly blemish-free. What acne she does have being covered up with concealer.

Jezzie tries to be as fashionable as possible when choosing clothing, saving up weeks of allowance and work money so she can buy one or two pieces of expensive clothes. Because of this, most of her wardrobe is casual attire, single-color shirts and plain bottoms, with more eye-catching pieces tastefully added in, like a name-brand pair of wedges or a chic cloche hat.

On the day of the abduction, Jezzie wore a white turtleneck sweater under a beige, long, wool coat with four dark brown buttons over her midsection reaching midway past her calves that is purposely oversized so that the sleeves cover all but the tips of her fingers when left down. She also had on a high-waisted, navy blue pleated skirt that’s 3/4ths the way to her knees over black thermal leggings, and she added light brown Ugg lace-up fold-down combat boots. She accessorized with faux-gold, heart-shaped hoop earrings made of pyrite, and a beige face mask matching her jacket.

Biography: Jezzie was born to Sara and Aaron Stark, a pair of customer service representatives for the same insurance company, on January 3rd, 2004, in Salem Massachusetts. They met during an office party, became fast friends, and got married within a couple years. They wanted their children to have unique spellings of common names, thinking it would be more appreciated than what they saw as cookie cutter common. Their first child was named Seasill, who is nine years Jezzie’s senior.

While the couple had put off having children to save money, they still tried to be frugal when spending money on them. Clothes were often found on clearance racks or thrift stores, toys tended to be on the cheaper side, and a good number of haircuts were done by the parents themselves.

While her brother was always content with these things, Jezzie always wanted more than what they were given. She admired others who had no worries over how much money they spent, kids who could play with any toys they wanted, and adults who could wear stylish clothing. Feelings like these were amplified by the shows she watched, having a fondness for What Not To Wear, Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model. While she never made a fuss about it, she often daydreamed about chic, expensive clothing when she was younger.

During this time, Jezzie also cultivated an interest in acting. She idolized the profession due to her mother’s habit of following celebrity media. From social media pages to award shows, Jezzie would hear much of it, and picture herself in famous movie roles and receiving awards for her work. At age seven, while she was too young to do stage acting, let alone anything professional, she took every game of pretend seriously, trying to fit every role she had to a T. When school started having plays, she would audition each time, and get a part in every one, though she has yet to receive a leading role.

Sara’s celebrity intrigue would spark another interest of her daughter’s, that being music. Musicians were just as interesting to her as movie stars, and so Jezzie would hear much of them as well, especially the music itself. While she wouldn’t become as interested in the activity as acting, she would still grow a great fondness for it. When she got her first iPod at age thirteen, she would fill it with music of all genres, and spend any free time she had simply listening and relaxing, sometimes singing along. It’s an activity she’s kept up to this day, even if her free time has waned considerably as the years have passed.

Once she started high school, Jezzie decided she wanted to get a job, as she wanted her own income to start buying clothes she preferred. Under her parent’s suggestion, she applied for and quickly became employed by a local grocery store, believing it to be a good, simple first job. At this job, which she still has today, she is regularly moved around to different areas, wherever other employees need assistance with their jobs. Bagging products, stocking shelves, and checking out customers are the most common tasks she gets. While she doesn’t particularly like the job, Jezzie is satisfied with it for the most part, as it helps her afford more expensive clothes that catch her eye.

The pandemic affected Jezzie surprisingly little. While the latest play she would be in had to be canceled, she kept her job due to being considered an essential worker, and managed to keep up healthy social interaction because of it. She did, however, become a little more health conscious, as she wanted to avoid getting sick to keep said job. She now wears masks regularly, staying vigilant for any signs of sickness.

At school, Jezzie tries her best to try and be a standout, popular girl, but tends to be looked over by most of the class. She gets some recognition, mainly due to the unusual spelling of her name, classmates recognizing her from the grocery store, and her face being a familiar one in most plays, but she usually fades into the background for most students. Despite this, she still thinks very highly of herself, believing herself to be one of the most popular students in school. It’s a similar case for school staff, as her grades are neither notably negative nor notably positive, most being Bs and Cs. Her best classes, mathematics and theatre, are the only standouts, the latter due to her acting being quite good, and her experience as a cashier helping the former, leading her to having an A in both classes. She believes those alone have given her more recognition among the school staff, and that they are impressed with her skills. More recently, however, she has kicked up a fuss over the fine arts department budget being cut, as she worries about how the next play will suffer for it, and this has caused her to be recognized somewhat.

Jezzie usually gets along perfectly fine with her parents, though there are some issues. They have felt some concern over her spending habits, believing she would be better off saving money for college. They have yet to bring up the issue with her, however, due to Aaron’s belief that a person should be able to do whatever they want with the money they earn. Additionally, they worry over a more recent habit of Jezzie’s, as she has started skipping meals to save money for clothes. While they’ve brought this up to her, she’s mostly assuaged these concerns by saying she eats bigger lunches at school. This reassurance has actually been a lie, though, as lunch is the meal she skips most often. Jezzie and Seasill, meanwhile, are somewhat distant due to the latter having moved out several years ago, but are generally on good terms.

Jezzie’s post-high school plans are to keep her job for a couple more years, saving up money to go to college, major in theatre and become an actress. She has hopes of going into film, but has settled on the idea of being on the theatre stage or the smaller screen as acceptable. She believes that she is a future star just waiting to be discovered, and thus has no expectations of anything else happening, unprepared for any failure for her plans.

Advantages: Jezzie’s skill in acting is quite formidable, and she should be able to use it on the island, tricking adversaries and making allies easily. Her tendency to be forgotten by her classmates may also prove useful, as it could lead to them passing her over as a threat. She should be able to handle any hunger she deals with on the island, as her meal-skipping habit making her used to the feeling.
Disadvantages: Jezzie is not an intimidating figure. Her size and low athletic skill mean she can easily be overpowered by a good number of classmates. Her tendency to be forgotten can be a hindrance as well, as she won’t have many natural allies that can vouch for her. She may also overestimate her own abilities, getting herself into a situation that is more than she can handle.
