Parkway Shopping Plaza

Important Location Info!

An alternative to the hustle and bustle of Central Mall, Parkway Plaza is filled with small shops and restaurants, mostly run by local merchants, and many thrift and second-time-around shops for those who would rather not (or simply can't afford to) spend ridiculous amounts of money on clothing and shoes.

Parkway Shopping Plaza

#1

Post by Megami* »

Built in 1957 by Edward Parkway, Parkway Shopping Plaza was once quite the popular little outdoor mall. It once boasted many thriving retail shops and the like, and was a popular attraction away from the heart of the city. Upon the erection of Central Mall in the heart of town, Parkway Shopping Plaza lost a lot of things. It lost its businesses, its merchandise, and a lot of its clientel and profit.

Seeking more income in order to keep the large complex open for business, rental rates were lowered for the empty spaces the retail stores had left behind. This tactic worked, and many small shops and businesses flocked to the Plaza. Once again business began coming in, and although the Plaza has still not recovered from the detremental shock of losing its big-name retail stores, the small businesses that have taken their place help to bring income in to the facility.

Parkway Shopping Plaza now houses many thrift stores and second-time-around shops, as well as a station for the Salvation Army. Not only thrift shops are located in this plaza, however. Many small family-oriented stores and restaurants have also set up business here. It's a prime location for small businesses and eating places, as it's situated on the outskirts of downtown Denton and is rather peaceful and tranquil by comparison.
