Title of the pregame planning thread

Hi everyone. This is my first time offering up a sacrifice for the main version.

His name is Wade Colter. I’m working out a few details with him still, so some details may change over time, but I think I’ve got the general idea nailed down:

Wade grew up neurodivergent, which has been a rough ride for him as he was diagnosed later than most because his parents thought it was just something he would grow out of. He got the appropriate support eventually, but by then he’d already made an ass of himself socially enough that it’s led him to withdraw from a majority of social engagements.

By high school, he’s gotten fairly bitter about it because he feels like he’s missing major milestones in his life because of his neurodivergence. He’s still found some joy through joining the wrestling team, to which he is excessively dedicated. Additionally, he’s also really into horror, specifically the kind that gets really, really gory.

Wade likes anyone who shares in his interests, and he especially likes people who are on the wrestling team. He struggles a lot with feelings of loneliness, so having people that he knows are within the same headspace helps him out quite a bit. He’s not an outwardly emotional guy, and his sense of humour starts and stops at slapstick, loud noises, and toilet jokes. He can understand more complicated humour but his actual reaction to it is mixed.

Wade really dislikes being mocked, or whatever he perceives as mockery. He can take criticism just fine, but there’s a thin line between what he considers criticism and what is an insult to him. He’s unlikely to get into a big brawl over it (getting detention might get him kicked off the wrestling team) but he will be incredibly blunt about how displeased he is. He’s likewise not fond of delinquents as a whole, as he considers them a hazard to his health and he’d just lose his shit if he couldn’t go to wrestling practice.

A more complicated issue is his opinion on neurodivergence, in that it is negative. He really hates not being “normal” and looks down on other people who he thinks are neurodivergent out of self loathing. He tries to keep this opinion to himself for obvious reasons.

Hobbies/Interests: Horror media, professional wrestling, true crime, reading/writing, those Disney channel sitcoms with the kid actors

All the preamble out of the way, here’s what I’m looking for for my son.

• Teammates: Anyone who wants to be on the wrestling team can be.
• Friends: Anyone who shares his interests. If you’re on the wrestling team he’ll consider you this by default
• Acquaintances: Anyone who knows him, but doesn’t necessarily like or hate him.
• Dislikes: Anyone who falls under the above mentioned dislikes.
• Enemies: Anyone who falls under his above mentioned dislikes AND has personally earned Wades ire in some way.

Hi! My Ginger is basically every Vegas stereotype rolled into a rich teenage girl, so she's doing shit like sneaking into casinos. She's kind of more an offensive type than a defensive type, and while she's the type to not pick fights there's a chance for some friction there.

I agree that there would be some friction, though Wade is only really concerned about his own interests, so something like what Ginger does might breed contempt, but not out an out hostility.

Don't really have much to say about Rezariza, while she's into some horror stuff it's not any specific favoritism toward the genre, so they probably know about each other and that's pretty much it.

Yeah, ripping off the bandaid, Wade and Kip absolutely hate each other. Kip is very much a bully and will absolutely insult Wade just to try and start a fight with him, at least partially because he wants to see how good the wrestler is off of the mat. If he didn't have baseball, he'd absolutely join the wrestling team just to kick Wade's ass (and get in less trouble for it than he usually would).

For Rez, yeah that seems like it would be accurate. Maybe they get movie recs from each other.

For Kip, oh HELL YES. Any interaction these two have would be a test of Wades ability to restrain himself. I think Wade would try and insult him right back too. I can definitely see Kip being one of the things that breaks through Wades unemotional exterior through sheer force of hate.

These two I can definitely see being pretty close, and I can also see Wade being the Hannibal to Mortimers Eric Andre, if that makes sense. It would probably be good for my boy to diversify his hobbies as well.

Wade I can see being apprehensive about outdoors stuff, but I can also see Beau overwhelming him with his energy and getting him to agree regardless. He’d also appreciate someone going out of their way to interact with him, so Wade would consider him a friend.

I agree completely on both Storm and Inessa being friends.

Mercy Myers is the horror girl. That said, whilst she doesn't shy away from graphic violence in her films, she tends to regard it as a crutch to make up for lacking real dread, so they might have some tension over that.

My other girls don't have much crossover but Heather Klein boxes, so while they don't directly have athletics in common but they'd probably see each other at the gym from time to time. She's plenty happy to respect his quiet, not impossible they've gotten into fights before though (ambiguous as yet, but my gut tells me that Heather probably has undiagnosed borderline personality disorder). Grace Wills is in a simular situation, she's on the football team and works out hard to keep up with the boys. She's... probably on the autism spectrum, not sure how visibly yet, so that might also be a tension point though she's far less liable to let anything escalate to blows when she can instead avoid the situation.

Murray has probably seen Wade, as he's trying to learn more about professional wrestling and he's convinced that this man is as professional as it gets. Given Murray is...well, Murray, I can see Wade taking some issue with that, but on the whole, they might be cool.

Yeah, Edwin's the kind of person to mock your interests, probably mention how he's going to own you and make you a famous collegiate wrestler, maybe capitalize on that NIL thing against your wishes if that's a thing.

Keiko might have helped Wade with some of his writing, but that's about all I have for her.

No worries about the planning stuff. We’ve got plenty of time.

Wade would appreciate Mercy’s interest in horror, but he’s also bitchy enough to get into an argument over the merits of splatter films and slasher movies over any other kinds. I can’t see this being a breaking point for the relationship, but Wade’s also halfway to being a shut in, so I’d say their friendship would be more casual.

Wade’ll avoid conflict as much as possible so he doesn’t get injured or kicked off the wrestling team, so Heather and him would remain acquaintances off in their own bubbles for the most part.

Wade would respect Grace for her work ethic, but his weird social hang ups would get in the way of being anything greater than acquaintances.

Maggie would hold an interesting place in Wades headspace. He’ll recognize her as being a nice person, and he’d acknowledge that she is, ultimately, someone in the same boat as him. However, his self esteem issues would have him dislike solely because of their similar situations. He’d essentially have two different opinions of her at the same time and would try to avoid her to keep himself from having to deal with it.

Wade would just love to tell Murray everything he knows about professional wrestling, to the point that whatever odd, dumb, or boneheaded statements he makes will just roll off his back. Wade might even learn a thing or two about football.

Wade wouldn’t be necessarily opposed to being famous as a collegiate wrestler (mostly because wrestling is his only career goal right now.) I can also see Wade listening to Edwin for like five seconds and then ditching him ASAP.

Wade and Keiko probably aren’t that close, but Wade would keep quiet when she wants him too so I can see them being amicable overall, especially over the writing thing.

Hello it is I, Magnum.

I've come to give you an idea I have in regards to the potential relation that Wade and Claude could possibly have.

Taking my character into account with how he is as a person, I feel like they could be on friendly terms with each other since Claude is one of the most nicest guys at school who is willing to make friends with anyone. He would also find Wade to be a pretty cool wrestler and would actually ask him if they could have a wrestling spar, simply because Claude was curious as to how well he could do as a wrestler.

Claude may also show pity for Wade for being a victim of bullying to his fellow teammate, Marino, and would occasionally give him a pep-talk or something of the sort in hopes of brightening up the mood he would be put in.

If you think a friendship or maybe even just a neutral relation between would work between the two athletes, then I'm all up for it.
