I've been eyeing this thread for a while now. Now's the time!
I only have one, singular, lonely kid. I think that there's at least a couple of ideas to be had. Maybe even one. Your characters are cool.
- [+] Skyla Monroe
- Skyla Monroe
Perhaps, for the most part, David would be concerned. He'd certainly like Skyla and want to be friends with her, she'd seem very interesting, but he'd be concerned for her, especially if he sees her surrounding herself with delinquents of various kinds. He finds this "perfection" to be a source of certainty in life, something to grip onto, and thinks that, perhaps, it'd be more healthy to simply build a different relationship with it, rather than discarding it completely. (David'd certainly be a little biased. He felt quite lost before, and now values certainty in life.) Would he speak to her about it? Only if she actually allows him to.
Other than that, he'd probably comment on what she does well with curt compliments, maybe questions about it. Could come as a source of annoyance, maybe?
- [+] Maggie Wilfred
- Maggie Wilfred
On the most surface level, David would have probably heard of Maggie's father as "one of the Republicans", but not much else. He'd be friendly, maybe even wonder a little about what she's like, but there might be too little common ground for them.
However, Maggie might have caught sight of David several times, because he walks around, in various places, and walks around a lot. Perhaps she saw him on separate occasions while hiding in a tree?
- [+] Murray Miller
- Murray Miller
David would be very damn impressed by Murray's athletic capabilities and very damn inspired by how much he tries. He's not interested in football, sure, but the strength! David would also feel as if he should try even harder with... everything; Murray tries hard, and that's great, so why shouldn't he? (This might even come as a source of disheartenment for David.) Other than that, not much common ground.
- [+] Rita Schnell
- Rita Schnell
Having been born into a upper-middle class family, David has certainly never felt many problems with money. Not rich enough for many cars or daily champagne, but rich enough to live more than comfortably. But wealth isn't something he pays attention to at all, and being a little out of the loop with what his peers are doing, David would probably appreciate Rita for one thing that he deems quite important — optimism and determination. He'd feel a little disconcerted at how self-centered she seems, but certainly not to a level of ire.
If, at any point in time, they start talking about struggle, David would certainly feel irritated. Everyone suffers at times, everyone struggles at times, how in the world does someone ignore that? But he'd still feel quite impressed at her optimism — maybe a little inspired.
- [+] Josie Castellaneta
- Josie Castellaneta
Once again, David would certainly be impressed at her athleticism on the surface. A little concerned at how she's (outwardly) cold, but not much else.
But the deeper he'd go, the more empathy he'd feel. He was born into a caring, loving family, and doesn't quite know what it feels like to be alone, never loved; however, at one point in his life, David felt like his parents didn't really need him, rather, just an image of his late sister. Abandonment is something that he feared and still fears to this day, and he can't find it in himself to not reach out to help, if he can, if he doesn't get told to go away. Writing could be an interesting point of common ground, especially with how personal it is to both of them (although, in that case neither would really know, would they?).
Hi Lazandpine! Sorry it took so long for me to get to you, life got busy for about a week or so. Now let's see here...
Skyla: Skyla would...not be a fan of the curt comments nor the fact that David sees this "perfection" as something to stay beckoned to. She'd at least appreciate the concern, but she'll be the first to tell you that she's good. Neutral, borderline on adversarial in my opinion.
Maggie: I don't think Maggie and David would have much of a relationship unfortunately. Outside a few close calls up the tree, it feels like they wouldn't have really seen each other.
Murray: Same boat with Murray for the most part. I do think David could admire his abilities and apply it to his life, however. Even as Murray doesn't fully understand it (he's never been a role model to anyone before).
Rita: This is probably David's golden ticket regarding relationships with my character. Rita and David immediately feel like they'd connect well together. They're both well-off, they're both generally optimistic, they're decent to the people they're closest towards and like people. The only real bugaboo is Rita's overly optimistic personality could, at times, clash with David's more reserved personality, but other than that, I think they'd get along pretty well. I imagine Rita might have also hit on David a couple times, only for him to not fully understand.
Josie: This feels like something that could easily be slow burned into existence, with David and Josie finding common ground. Maybe they started as neutral, but as time passed, they became decent enough friends?
