Brielle Drummond

Post by Grand Moff Hissa »

Name: Brielle Drummond
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12
School: Southwest Red Rock High School
Hobbies and Interests: Self Defense, Roleplaying Games, Battletech, Cheerleading, Music (especially 90s Alt Rock and Europop)

Appearance: At 5'6" and 125 lbs, Brielle has a relatively lean build. She has a triangluar figure, with wider hips and narrower shoulders. She has a heart-shaped face, with a long, narrow nose, wide dark brown eyes under thin eyebrows, and downturned lips. She wears his/her straight black hair to just below shoulder length, and has straight bangs.

Brielle is Caucasian. Het ears are pierced once apiece in the lobes; she otherwise has no tattoos, piercings, or notable scars. Her posture is generally good, and she has a clear complexion.

In terms of dress, Brielle favors modest cuts and neutral colors, especially greys, blacks, and whites, though she is also fond of her cheer uniform and will wear it on event days. On the day of the abduction, she was wearing a knee-length grey pencil skirt, a white button-down blouse, and a light grey jacket with the logo for the Spirit Cats faction in the Battletech miniatures game embroidered on the back. She paired this with semisheer black tights and black flats, plus simple silver stud earrings.

Biography: Brielle was born in September 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to unknown parents. A home birth without any prenatal interaction with the medical system, she abandoned in accordance with Nevada's Safe Haven law. She was left on the grounds of a fire station by her mother, who then placed a call informing the firemen of this fact. No other information was provided, and Brielle was quickly taken to a hospital, where examinations showed that she was slightly underweight but otherwise in good health.

While she entered the foster system, Brielle did not stay in it for long; she was quickly adopted by Ewan and Natalie Drummond. The Drummonds were a couple in their mid 30s who had, after two years of failure to conceive naturally, discovered that Ewan was infertile and determined to adopt instead. They were quite well-off; Ewan was a surgeon who had successfully established a private practice and had parlayed much of his earnings into investments, while Natalie handled most of his administrative tasks. Following the adoption, Natalie moved to primarily being a stay-at-home mom, while Ewan hired outside help to handle the tasks that she previously had. The Drummonds helped navigate the paperwork surrounding Brielle's unusual circumstances, and legally her birthday is September 19.

Natalie took very well to motherhood, and while she shouldered the vast majority of the parental duties due to Ewan's demanding career, she found that she generally enjoyed it. After further discussions, the couple ultimately decided to adopt a second child as well, and when Brielle was two and a half they also took in a son named Bryce, whose parents had died in a car accident. Bryce was the same age as Brielle—in fact, his birthday was also September 19, and so the Drummonds took to referring to them as twins, though they are not biologically related. Still, the family have been together so long that Brielle has no memories from before her brother's arrival.

Despite its tumultuous start, Brielle's childhood was largely happy and calm. She received constant love and attention from her mother, and was showered with praise and affection. She and her brother both went to a good private preschool, where they were able to socialize with other children their age. Here, Brielle got along well with the curriculum, but was often shy around the other students, taking some time to warm up to them and often going quiet and leaning on her more extroverted brother to serve as intermediary. In this way, the two developed an early rapport, and while they did bicker and squabble at times, they overall got along much better than many siblings do.

They remained in the same class throughout elementary school. While they could have easily been enrolled in a private school, Ewan and Natalie ultimately decided to send them through the public school system instead. This was based on Natalie's own experiences; while Ewan had moved to Nevada to attend college, Natalie was a lifelong resident, and Brielle and Bryce attended the same schools that she had as a child. Brielle found academic success easy, and this coupled with her supportive home environment gave her a lot of confidence in herself, though she still struggled to interact with others and preferred to let her brother take the lead. Bryce, meanwhile, did not find schooling as natural a fit, preferring to run around and play games. Brielle helped him with his work where she could, and also helped the teachers keep him on-task.

The first major development in their dynamic came when they entered middle school. Suddenly, the siblings were no longer in the same class at all times. This was hard on Brielle at first, especially as her peers explored their identities and formed into cliques. Bryce fit right in with other popular kids from well-off families, and this brought Brielle into contact with these groups as well. With encouragement both from him and her parents, she began to actively work to be more comfortable in social situations on her own, and over the course of her middle school years established a number of friendships, something she actually found even easier during the period of distanced learning at the start of the pandemic.

By the time she began high school, Brielle was on the periphery of popularity, though she had also made some friends outside of that sphere. Her talent for school had held strong, and she routinely was near the top of her classes, without having to devote too much extra work to it, and she volunteered to help tutor other students or assist teachers.

Brielle's genuine enjoyment of school and school life was something she shared with her brother, though his focus was more on the social and athletic side of things. The pair encouraged each other, though, and ultimately at the end of their freshman year they agreed to try out for positions with teams the next year. When the time came, Bryce failed to make the cut for the football team, but Brielle was picked up by the cheer squad, somewhat to her surprise. She quickly came to enjoy the team, though, both as an activity in its own right and as a social sphere. Brielle typically serves as a spotter, helping enable the team's stunts by calling shots and providing support for the fliers. She puts a lot of work into this, and while she is mostly confident and competent, when she does make mistakes it tends to eat at her.

Outside of cheer, Brielle's other primary social hobby is roleplaying games. She picked these up in middle school as one of the activities that helped her break out of her shell a little more, and developed a deep and lasting liking for them. Brielle always enjoyed reading as a child, and found roleplaying games to be an exciting extension of this; now she was able to not only experience stories, but participate in and shape them. Generally speaking, she'll play whatever her friends are playing, but she has a distaste for Dungeons & Dragons specifically and will complain about it when it comes up, which is fairly often given its widespread popularity.

Brielle's favorite media property is Battletech, a fictional universe centered around armed conflict carried out by the pilots of giant humanoid robots. Brielle was introduced to this by her father, who had played an offshoot version of the miniatures game a few years before Brielle entered his life, and who taught her this game when she was in elementary school to both spend time with her and help develop her math. Brielle feels a special affinity for the game both for this reason and because the surname "Drummond" holds special significance for a certain group within the setting as an earned honor rather than a strictly hereditary marker, a theme that she connects with on a personal level. Brielle's favorite group within the setting are the Spirit Cats, offshoots of a group of members of a genetically engineered warrior culture. In fact, Brielle tends to speak in a somewhat formal manner, without the use of contractions, a habit she initially picked up from this fictional culture when portraying them in a roleplaying game, but which crept its way into her regular usage.

Brielle was also initially inspired by this to pursue martial arts, and when she was in middle school she asked her parents to enroll her. She was indecisive about what discipline she wanted to study, though, and ultimately instead ended up signed up for a general self-defense course. She enjoyed this greatly, feeling more comfortable with her ability to handle a physical threat if she ever was called on to do so, but also found the experience a bit less romantic than she'd expected, as the importance of not fighting when possible was stressed just as much as more violent forms of self defense. She ended up lacking the interest to truly pursue a martial art as a sport, she takes annual refresher courses for self defense, something which has also helped her confidence, though she has never made practical use of her skills or been in a physical fight outside of play wrestling in elementary school.

Brielle enjoys music, and almost always has something playing when not engaged in conversation. She favors music from the 90s, a fondness mostly picked up from her mom, who would play songs from that era around the house. Brielle especially likes upbeat Europop music, which energizes her, and alternative music, which she finds alternately deep and introspective and simply fun.

Now in her senior year of high school, Brielle feels like she's in a very good place with her life. Her grades are great, and she's quite popular with teachers. Her favorite class is English, but she doesn't really dislike any of her courses. She's enrolled in a full slate of Advanced Placement classes, and hopes to waive a chunk of college credit through AP exams. She has applied to a number of colleges, including private schools out of state, even a few Ivy Leagues, and there's little doubt she'll get into a decent program.

Socially, Brielle is mostly well-liked, though there are wrinkles here and there. While she has shaken much of her shyness, she still can at times come across as stilted or overly formal. She can also be difficult to disagree with; when she thinks she's in the right, she will continue to assert herself, going as far as to challenge anyone who persists in disagreeing with her. This, coupled with her academic success and her privileged home life, has earned her a reputation as a bit of a perfectionist, and some of her peers also see her as spoiled. Her friends largely are spread between the popular crowd and the nerdier group, though she's not quite at home in either circle due to having one foot in the other. Brielle considers herself heterosexual. While she has had a date for a school dance here and there, she has never been in a serious relationship or pursued romance as a goal, as she doesn't want anything tying her down before college.

Brielle's closest friend remains her brother, though the siblings now have separate enough lives that they no longer spend the majority of their time together. Bryce understands Brielle better than anyone else, and is still able to help on those rare occasions where she struggles to make herself clear. She also has a very good relationship with both of her parents. Natalie is the parent with whom Brielle has a closer emotional connection, as she was the one who did the majority of the work raising Brielle. Natalie serves as an advisor and confidante, and has always made Brielle feel loved and cared for, even as she explained in age-appropriate terms the nature of Bryce and Brielle's entrance into the Drummond family. If anything, being adopted makes Brielle more fiercely fond and proud of her parents, as she sees all the opportunities they have given her, and while they have always left the door open to seeing if she can learn anything about her biological family, Brielle has adamantly refused. Ewan's relationship with Brielle centers mostly around shared lesiure activities, as his work keeps him busy. He's always done a good job of keeping his stress from spilling out and negatively impacting his family, and takes great joy in treating his children to movies, playing computer games with them, and so on. He has no real capacity for disciplinary action, though, and on those rare occasions where it was warranted, Natalie has had to be the enforcer.

Advantages: Brielle is smart and driven. She has a number of friends across a range of social spheres. She's in good physical shape. While she has never made actual practical use of it, she has a solid understanding of basic self defense techniques.
Disadvantages: Brielle can be very hard on herself over mistakes, and if she can't correct a problem she sometimes dwells on it. She struggles with compromise, and will challenge others if she thinks they're on the wrong course, only relenting if she feels they have proved the merit of their way.
