Sean Levin*

Post by Deleted User (V4) »

Name: Sean Levin
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Grade: 12
School: Bayview Secondary School
Hobbies and Interests: Sean is passionate about film making, and is fond of swimming and cinema, if to a lesser degree.

Appearance: Sean is skinny (around 120lbs), with some muscle but very little definition; showing his lack of dedication to exercising. While he's not out of shape, he's weaker physically than some of the others and his diet (consisting mainly of apples and coffee) leaves much to be desired. A little on the short side, Sean stands at 5 foot 7" and is quite happy to complain about it to anyone who'll listen. Sean has a rounded, vaguely childish (only emphasised by his complete lack of facial hair) but still quite attractive face, only really defined by a strong chin and slightly angular jaw line. Sean has a prominent 'Roman' nose that complements his full, oval shaped lips and wide mouth, with some off-white (he drinks a lot of coffee) mostly straight (not even four years with a brace could fully tame them) teeth. Naturally, Sean's eyes are a rather dull hazel colour, but as a small vanity he tends to wear deep blue contact lenses. His eyes are rounded, small but quite wide. Sean has thick but well groomed eyebrows that are flatter than they are arched, and sit quite low on his brow. Sean's hair is chin-length, dusty-blonde in colour, and frames his face in messy layers (that take more time than he'd like to admit to do in the morning). At home he will sometimes tie it up into a ponytail, but adamantly refuses to do so at school. Sean is slightly more fashion-conscious than most boys his age, and puts at least a little effort into looking good. He normally wears a brightly coloured, graphic t-shirt with a cotton jacket and some well-fitting jeans, paired with some comfortable but expensive sneakers. He wears no jewellery, but feels lost if he ever goes anywhere without his watch (a battered, analogue clock with a faded blue leather strap).

Biography: Sean is laid-back, bordering quite closely on lazy. He has a very relaxed personality, and goes with the idea that things with all work out if we leave them well enough alone. He seldom loses his temper, and always prefers diplomacy over violence. However, this is somewhat of a façade – while he seems to keep a cool head, Sean becomes very angry over perceived injustices and then quite unhealthily suppresses them. While he would like to vocalise his thoughts, Sean has become very set in his ways and believes that there is no real way to change things, and that it is better to let them happen then to fight it and be hurt. The only exception to his laissez-faire attitude is his film-making, which he is extremely dedicated to.

Sean fits somewhere in the middle of the popularity hierarchy, neither unpopular nor especially popular, he generally gets along with people and has a good relationship with most of his acquaintances. It's arguable that he does not have many close friends, as he seldom makes the effort to go beyond acquaintances with people he meets. That said, he has one or two friends that he feels comfortable enough with to enjoy their company.

While not especially sporty or athletic, Sean swims with the school team and will occasionally go to the gym. He's not out of shape by any means, but pales in comparison to the school's more enthusiastic sportsmen (and women). Sean's strength is average, but he prefers not to exert himself and would much rather avoid doing whatever required it of him. Sean is at least reasonably intelligent, and usually gets average to above-average grades, and would perform better if he put some effort into his studies. He tends to be very unenthusiastic about his school work, seeing it as more of a distraction than something that will benefit him in later life.

Sean spent the first seven years of his childhood an only child, and his parents; both well-meaning but lacking the foresight to see any consequences of this, doted on their son, giving in to his every whim and fancy. As a young child, Sean particularly enjoyed the cinema, and even his parents grew weary of seeing the same film for the third time around. When his little sister Joanna came along, Sean was thrown into a world that did not revolve around him. He was unimpressed.

To avoid his young, bawling sister and his harried looking mother, Sean took to exploring his neighbourhood, spending more time in interesting looking cracks and crevices than he did in his room. Here, he imagined scenes from his favourite films taking place, created sequels and prequels and scenes he thought the movie really could have done with. Occasionally some of his friends would want to join in to these deep imaginary worlds he had created, but it never worked. They'd need something explaining to them, and suddenly the world just became two boys playing in a clearing. While he would have preferred to keep on playing alone, his mother firmly but gently encouraged him to be sociable, and so the worlds were kept in his head, except on the rare occasions where he was left alone.

On his twelfth birthday (and after several years of begging), Sean received a video camcorder that soon became his best friend. It was second-hand, and of a low quality to begin with, and while Sean often bemoaned that he'd prefer a better one, the camcorder put his passion for film into a new light. He would spend hours at a time using it, only to scowl and clear everything he'd recorded for not being up to his standards. His parents, eager to see him actually taking an interest in something for a change, promised that when he produced something he was completely happy with they would purchase him a new one.

Five years later and despite many sleepless nights working on his projects, Sean still uses his old camcorder.

Advantages: Non-committal and friendly, Sean is unlikely to have upset anyone, making him an unnecessary target (at least at the begin). Sean is at least reasonably fit, meaning he's not at least handicapped by his physique, and should he transfer his passion for film to survival he would become quite a capable force.

Disadvantages: With few strong emotional attachments, the students of Bayview Secondary may feel more comfortable turning their weapons on Sean than one of their friends. Sean lacks any skill with weapons, and is nearly as poor at hand-to-hand combat. His laziness may seriously hinder him in a world where it is important to be proactive and to stay on your toes.
