Snatch/Steal

Much of the southern portion of town is inhabited by apartment complexes, typically made of cement and appearing largely the same in design, with multiple floors and flat roofs. Many of the buildings have small, dilapidated courtyards protected by wrought iron fences and decorated with picnic tables and other patio furniture. There are very few buildings in this area that aren’t decorated with graffiti.

Snatch/Steal

((Matt Vartoogian continued from this will get fixed eventually I swear))

Matt had waited for Finn to be gone for a while before moving. How long had he waited? An hour? Two hours? His sense of time was never the best. The sun was still out, which was good. He figured that whoever had done the shooting was gone by now. Maybe there'd be something left.

Matt had heard the direction from which the bangs had come. He also knew it had been on a lower story where he was hiding, which meant it was probably relatively close to the ground. It had been close. He'd be able to find it pretty quickly. He grabbed the shotgun anyways.

Matt sneaked between the apartments for a while. Shoot on sight. That was his policy at this point. He needed to practice shooting, but any practice would involve attracting the progressively fewer and more aggressive people left on the god-forsaken island. He'd have to take that risk, though, maybe after he was done here. With more people dying as the day progressed and the terrorists corralling them further and further, the end of the day was the best time to do something like this. Still, if he saw someone now...

No, it was easier just to avoid people at this point. Keep hiding, keep stalling. Only shoot if you have to.

It wasn't long until Matt found what he was looking for. He grimaced at the sight of Juhan, Takeshi, and Bella's fresh corpses. He'd forgotten that Juhan and Takeshi were even on the trip. They hadn't killed anyone, and it was too easy to forget about those who weren't killing. How many of his peers had forgotten about him? Joe, Ami, Finn, Mara, Gray, Sean. Those were the ones left that he'd run into. He might as well not have been there for everyone else.

The bags, check the bags. Matt checked Juhan and Takeshi's bag, and frowned to see that they were void of food and water. Whoever had done this had already taken what was relevant. However, there were bullets in Juhan's bag and a machine gun near his corpse. That was something he wanted, or at least wanted not to be used against him. He needed to move it back to his new base. Bella had also remained unlooted. Matt opened her bag, relieved to see that some food and water was still there. Matt wasn't super concerned about supplies, his naturally small size and the looting he'd done had put him in a good enough position. Sure, he wasn't going to be as well-fed as Hansel, but he was also half of Hansel's size. He also looked down at the kama lying on the ground near her corpse. It was small, he could use it. Would he ever want to use it over a shotgun or machine gun, though? Maybe to make a stealth or execution kill? He could deny it from going to someone else, though.

Matt tossed the kama in Juhan's bag along with the food from Bella's bag and ran it back to where his bag was. This next run would be dangerous, but he had to make it. He couldn't carry both the shotgun and machine gun. Taking the kama to be safe, Matt ran and grabbed the machine gun, carrying it back to his room without encountering anyone. Another small risk had paid off.

He moved a table from inside the apartment to the window and placed the machine gun on it. He could aim it out the window and fire, instantly killing anyone who walked by. It'd be hard to see the gun from below, too. If someone got past it inside the building, he still had the shotgun. And the kama, if it came to it.

His only companions would be silence and the sound of death.
