Letitia May

Post by Laurels »

Name: Letitia May
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12
School: John Endecott Memorial Academy
Hobbies and Interests: Fashion design and styling, hair and makeup, partying, business, printmaking, accessory designing and making

Appearance: Letitia stands at about 5’11” and weighs 140 pounds. She is slim, but with a fairly noticeable bust and curvy hips. She is African-American, and her skin is a dark brown that she takes care of, maintaining clear and blemish-free skin. She has dark brown eyes, a flat nose, and prominent cheekbones. Her hair is black, straight, sewn-in weave that is center parted and reaches her mid-back.

Letitia takes great care of her physical appearance. Although she normally wears her hair down or in down do’s, she is also a fan of scarves and head wraps. Her fashion style can be described as a mix of modern urban styles and high end. She prefers clothing that flatters her figure and is a mix of bright colors and bold African-American-inspired prints. She tends to rotate clothing depending on the season, so it’s not common for her to stick with consistent pieces or pairings. She also tends to wear a full face of makeup, preferring to focus on showing clean skin, dramatic eyeshadow, and other techniques that compliment her facial features. She’s also prone to wearing a few accessories at a time, especially pieces she makes, usually wearing bold earrings and some notable necklaces and rings.

Biography: Letitia Cicely May was born September 22, 2003 as the second child of Damon and Deniece May. She has one older brother,Jefferson, who is two years older than her and is at Harvard studying business administration. She would be followed by her younger sister Angelie one year later and her younger brother Trevor two years after Angelie was born. Damon runs a software company and Deniece works as a prosecutor.

The Mays lived a comfortable, wealthy existence growing up, as Damon and Deniece’s combined wages lead to them living in a wealthy part of Salem. Because of this, Letitia and her siblings never went without and were able to grow up with the latest toys and clothing and able to take many trips per year. This led to Letitia expecting to have a lot in her life and led to some entitlement to this luxurious lifestyle.

Most of Letitia’s early life was spent surrounded by girls from similar families. Letitia was a good student, but not a good classmate, as she was prone to tease and pick on kids from lower class families. While this never escalated to physical bullying, Letitia was reprimanded a few times by teachers and administrators for her behavior. Damon and Deniece would play along, but never fully punish Letitia for her behavior, as they felt she had a right to believe what she did since they worked to give her the life she had.

As she got older, Letitia began to develop interests of her own. Because Deniece made sure her children were well-dressed and had the best clothing, Letitia began to take serious interest in the fashion industry, being drawn by the creativity and beauty of the field. With some of Deniece’s coaching, Letitia began to learn more about the industry, taking sewing and design classes outside of school so she could create her own work. She also learned how to take care of her own appearance by learning how to style her hair and makeup.

By the time she got to high school, Letitia had fully established herself as a wealthy, stylish, and somewhat mean girl. She was able to make friends with other rich girls and girls involved in fashion, but also made enemies with nerdier boys and girls and people she found unattractive and unfashionable. She’s also integrated herself into the party scene, usually winding up at the various parties around Salem. She tries to stay somewhat careful, not wanting to let her partying get her into legal or social trouble, so she tends to stay sober at these events and avoids any drinking or drugs. She has had her fair share of boyfriends and flings, but Letitia is currently single.

It was also in high school that Letitia began to focus her interests into something productive. She began to develop her own fashion line, called Leti M., by studying business practices and taking a small loan from her parents. She began to develop some dresses and accessories like scarves and headwraps to sell on a website and at local businesses and trunk shows around Salem. Letitia’s line is mostly focused on fusing African-style prints with modern designs. It was also in this time that Letitia began researching print making and designing her own prints for her line. So far, Letitia has managed to make a small profit from her business, although most of her profits go back into her business and paying back the loan from her parents. She has had to manage it alongside school, as well as the fact that she has to do a lot of her work by herself, so she will mostly plan her work based on events or do limited runs on her products.

Letitia’s home life is still good. She’s fairly close to her mom and her sister, the three of them all bonding of their love of fashion. She’s not particularly close to her brothers, although she gets along with them well. She’s also on good terms with her father, but he’s much stricter with her than her mother, so Letitia often keeps him somewhat at a distance and doesn’t confide in him as much as she would her mother.

As a senior, Letitia is planning to head to New York University for business school, then head to a fashion design school after getting her undergraduate degree. She hopes to get the education and work for a label before she launches her own brand. She’s also planning to continue her work on Leti M. and maybe expand on it. As a student, Letitia manages to get predominantly A’s, usually slipping to a B if she falls behind on her studies. She’s expected to maintain a high GPA by her parents or else she’ll have to lose some of her privileges or put Leti M. on pause. But otherwise, Letitia is on track to achieving her goals and doesn’t see it stopping any time soon.

Advantages: Letitia is very social and may be able to acclimate to various social situations. She’s also fairly creative and intelligent, which could help her in certain situations.
Disadvantages: While she’s very social, Letitia doesn’t have the best reputation, which may turn people away from her. Due to her haughtiness, she may also avoid people if she doesn’t like them herself or feel they match her standards.

With the caveat that Letitia is actually 17 at the start of the school year and will be turning 18 on September 22, 2021 (about a month into the school year), she's APPROVED.
