It's a Kind Alot

Day 3, private

The church sits atop a small hill in the town and gives a good view over the handful of streets that make up the place. The church itself is a classical wooden construction with a high steeple and ladder up to its bell, although the whole structure has shifted and leans to its right as a result of the ground beneath it shifting. The inside of the church has a carpeted aisle that runs between the rows of pews. At the front of the church is a pulpit and altar that have been arranged as if a service was intended before being abandoned. Behind this scene is the door to the sacristy, which contains some moth-eaten vestments, a wash basin, two wardrobes—one of which has been pushed onto its side, revealing a trapdoor—and a worktop with candlestick holders and incense burners along with some other Catholic paraphernalia.

It's a Kind Alot

((Josh continued from The Fall))

Josh wasn't sure if it was just because he'd spent a lot of time in this area already or some kind of subconscious drive that led him to the church next. He had spent time, to put it delicately, in the cellar of the church and the nearby graveyard but hadn't really taken time to look at the church itself.

He sat in one of the pews that was still somewhat in the middle of the room rather than off to the side serving as a barricade. Next to him was his gun and his bag, which was lumpy with supplies -- his own and Zora's as well as her rolled up bag inside. Josh looked up around the windows and decorations of the building and did not feel moved one way or the other.

He supposed that he was never really what one would call truly devout. He went along with going to church on Sundays because it's what his family did, and he joined the school club because all his siblings had. The beads in his pocket had been more a fidgeting tool than anything else, a reminder to toe the line.

God was violent and did as he pleased.

He looked down at the new, white scarf that hung around his neck and toyed with the fringed edges.

"Goodness," he exhaled.

He was learning more about his classmates in a few days than he had in years of school.

Josh had spent time wondering what it was he wanted since he had woken up. The answers had been revealing themselves.

((Calvin continued from Angry and Fighty))

Calvin was no religious guy, no Christian guy at least. He liked going meditating instead of praying. But it would be a neat place to hide from the coldness of the outside world.

Calvin stepped in, scythe in hand and recognised the killer in front of him. Now, whether he was a murderer or not has to be figured out. Interview. Though he had the surprise advantage, he couldn't allow to hurt him until it was determined whether he was dangerous or not.

Oh shit.

Is that a gun?

Well, nope, no gunshot wounds for lil' Calvin.

Calvin turned around and left as if he never was there

Josh thought he heard a noise, thought maybe he heard a shadow. His expression darkened and he lifted the gun, turning swiftly, and firing.

A piece of the door splintered, but there was no one there.

He looked thoughtfully at the empty space and resigned to cheer up.

"Ah well," he shrugged to himself with a little sigh.
