Salted Field

Between the base of the mountain and the research station is a large and rough expanse of land permanently covered in snow. The snowfield has remained this way thanks to the slight increase of elevation and shading from the mountain itself providing cover for the snow that frequently falls upon the island. Crossing the snowfield can be treacherous as the thick snow layer and rough terrain makes walking difficult, with the ground appearing to be flatter than it actually is. Rolled ankles and falls are not uncommon and on rare occasions, a small avalanche from the slopes of the mountain will cause a fresh layer of snow to come crashing down into the valley.

((Connie continued from Beautiful Dead))

As she trudged through the snow, Connie's head suddenly rose. The announcement was playing.

Eight tenths of the way through the broadcast, her voice began to echo through the wilderness.

"You have got to be fucking—you assholes! Do you have any idea how much bullshit—I was waiting for a fucking week to do that and then you go and—UGH! Fuck! You fucking—" Her shouting was suddenly cut off by the explosion, but then continued anew a moment later. "I hope that was something important, you dicks!"

She broke off, breathing heavily.

Connie was mad. No doubt about it. But she was thinking. She was thinking hard.

Fine. You know what? Fine. They fucked with her shit, she was going to be a problem.

Connie resituated her duffle, tugging it tight, checked her compass, and redoubled her pace towards town.
