Aidan 'Danny' Hill

#1

Post by Slam »

Name: Aidan ‘Danny’ Hill
Gender: Man
Age: 17
Grade: 12th
School: Southwest Red Rock High School
Hobbies and Interests: Dancing, ice hockey, fashion, horror media

Appearance: Danny is 5’7.5”, though he claims he is 5’9”, and weighs 67 kg. He has a lean, well-toned build, particularly in his legs and glutes. He is Caucasian, usually tanned from the Nevada sun, and has green eyes. He has dirty blonde medium-length hair, kept in a shaggy undercut and usually styled with some texturizing product. Danny has a tattoo of a dashing jackrabbit on the outside of his right wrist which was acquired with his mother’s permission and presence. He chose a jackrabbit as he feels connected to the animal due to its smaller size, speed and agility. It is colored yellow and black, as a tribute to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Danny has wide, rounded eyes with double eyelids, which contrasts his sharp narrow nose. He has light freckles streaked across the bridge of his nose and under his eyes. His mouth is narrow, the edges set in line with his nose; his front teeth are slightly crooked, as his parents could not afford braces to straighten them, so he makes a conscious effort not to show them when smiling. He is usually clean shaven, due to his difficulty growing anything more than patchy facial hair, and has a well-defined angular jawline. His right ear lobe is pierced with a silver stud.

Danny is conscious about what he wears, but constrained by a limited budget. Hence, his style is a mixture of second-hand higher-end clothes, often repaired where necessary by his own hand, and cheaply produced pieces thrown together in a casual look. Wardrobe mainstays include tank-tops and graphic tees that hug his body tightly, in order to show off his muscles, and well-fitting jeans and shorts to accomplish the same. On the rare occasion a jacket is called for, he swaps between a leather jacket hand-down from his father, and a denim jacket from a second-hand store. His shoes are typically a rotation of well-worn sneakers in colours to match the rest of his ensemble, which tend towards subtle earth tones, light pastels and neutrals. Finally, he likes to mix in cheap accessories, including sunglasses, hats, necklaces and bracelets, to add an extra touch to his look.

Biography: Aidan Declan ‘Danny’ Hill Jr. was born on April 15th 2007 to parents Aidan Hill Sr., a mid-level manager, and Lauren Hill née Tiffany, a veterinary technician. He has two older fraternal twin sisters, Erin and Alanna Hill, by four years. Aidan gained the nickname ‘Danny’ in his youth to distinguish him from his father in conversation, as a combination of his first and middle name, and it stuck as the one he uses by default outside of formal cases.

As the younger sibling, Danny was often outnumbered and babied by his older sisters growing up, which he resented. This aspect of their relationship reduced when he outgrew both of them, but they still like to tease him as much as any older siblings do from time to time. This treatment contributed towards Danny’s readiness to confront others if he felt it necessary, which would become a recurrent aspect of his personality.

From a young age Danny has been engaged in physical hobbies. Danny started ballet at age four after being brought along to his sister’s classes, when he was spotted by the teacher imitating the students. He enjoyed learning how to move around in new ways, spending time with the girls in his class, and dressing up in costume for recitals.

Danny also started playing ice hockey at age five at his father’s encouragement, and it has been a regular activity for him since. Danny is drawn to hockey for the thrill of competing on the ice, the social bonds with his teammates, the high-speed and intense action, and as a way to let off aggression and stress. Danny currently plays right winger on the first line of the school team, partly due to his left-handedness. He is a supporter of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, having made some friends out of other fans at Red Rock, and attended a handful of live games when costs permit. When he was younger he would attend with his dad, but as he grew older he would usually go with friends instead. He still occasionally goes with his dad as a bonding activity, he just prefers going with his friends at this time.

In first grade, Danny met his lifelong best friend: Dennis ‘Buck’ Buckley. The two became fast friends due to their shared interests and have been inseparable ever since. They have been hockey teammates since Buck turned 10. While the two don’t interact much on the ice, due to Buck’s position in the goal, they synergise very well off the ice when it comes to escalating situations. It is generally understood around school that if you provoke one of them, the other will get involved and probably make things worse.

In middle school, Danny moved away from ballet, partially because he was told he was unlikely to reach the height needed to be a successful ballet dancer as an adult, and partially due to worrying about what his peers would think of him for doing it. Dejected but not defeated, he would eventually transition into jazz dancing through school friends. Picking up on his disappointment at not taking part in ballet anymore, his friends helped him experiment with different styles based on their own interests until he found his love for jazz dance. Eventually he would put ballet behind him, and while he enjoys trying all styles of dance, he is particularly fond of jazz dancing due to its energetic and spontaneous nature, as well as enjoying the outfits he can wear along with it, as a nice middle ground between style and traditional masculinity. Danny also enjoys other high energy styles similar to jazz, like swing dance and salsa.

It was through his sisters that Danny gained his interest in fashion. When they grew older and he became more conscious of his appearance in middle school, having started to get attention from girls at school, he would passively let them give him fashion advice. He avoided deliberately seeking out their advice so that they didn’t feel like they had an advantage over him. Eventually this stopped when they caught him browsing through their fashion magazines, and after a teasing period they would end up discussing fashion amongst themselves regularly.

As Danny became more experienced in his hobbies and started playing in leagues and participating in dance contests, his perfectionist and competitive tendencies emerged. Danny did not like to lose, a trait that remains in the present day, and he would often take it out on his teammates or dance partners if he felt they were hurting his chances. This led to more than a few fights within the hockey team and in school, and Danny had to learn to cool some of his criticism in order to keep his position. One particular incident where his partner abandoned him right before a contest in his sophomore year served as a particular catalyst for him reevaluating his attitude. While his temper has still cost him dance partners over the years and led to the occasional disciplining in his hockey team, he has managed to manage it enough by high school that people are usually, though not always, willing to put up with it in exchange for his skill as a teammate and partner.

If Danny perceives himself as the one making the mistake, however, he can be very harsh on himself in an attempt to correct his behaviour. While this has caused him plenty of grief throughout the years, and he still struggles to mentally accept a loss, it has given him a diligent work ethic that pays dividends in his pursuits. When he does lose, Danny’s short temper emerges quickly and without mercy, and while he refrains from outright violence in most cases, he has a very sharp tongue when provoked.

Academically, Danny is average at best. He has little interest in most school subjects, and does the bare minimum to pass his classes. He has a soft spot for cultural studies if he can connect these to hockey or dancing. He rarely has the opportunity to do so in high school, though so his grades in these subjects, like with others, doesn’t go above the C/B range. He studies enough to stay on the team and give him some choices about college, but doesn't push himself past that.

Danny became fully aware of his homosexuality at the start of high school, after dating a handful of women in middle school and in his freshman year. While Danny has come out to his family and is supported by them, he remains closeted at school apart from a very small group of his closest peers who are sworn to secrecy. This is partially driven by his best friend Buck, who is casually homophobic around him. Danny is also worried that his hockey teammates may make an issue of it if they found out, so Danny remains involuntarily closeted for the time being to avoid starting any potential drama. This hasn’t prevented him from experimenting with other gay students at Red Rock, but he keeps it secret and insists they do the same, denying it if they try otherwise.

Danny’s family falls on the lower end of the middle class. The family has rarely been in dire financial straits, and they live in a comfortable but small three-bedroom in Meadowbrook. However, money was tight for Danny growing up, and this remains the case. He usually gets around this in his hobbies with second-hand equipment and by taking precious care of the rare new pieces he has received over the years, but he also salvages clothes or objects other people might consider disposable. Although he doesn’t do this enough to consider it a full hobby, he has still become reasonably resourceful with small fixes. While he would take a part-time job to give himself some more income, he finds he rarely has the time in his schedule.

Danny does not go out of his way to make new friends amongst his classmates. He has made some through mutual interests, and still is best friends with Buck, so he does not feel a need to make more friends. While he is happy to talk to and befriend people who stay on his good side, he has no concern about speaking his mind when people get on his nerves, no matter how cruel he might be. Though he doesn’t go as far as to bully people of his own initiative, he doesn’t particularly care if he sees it happening or ends up doing it unintentionally either. As far as he is concerned, people should be less sensitive. He does draw the line at bullying based on sexuality though, based on his own orientation, and has even been known to put a weak effort in at intervening in such situations he comes across.

On the rare occasion Danny is not practicing hockey or dancing, he can be found binging horror media in various formats, but with a leaning towards movies and comics. Danny was first introduced to these by his friends in middle school, and became enamoured with the gorey movies they would watch together. To him it’s stupid and cheesy fun, and he enjoys cringing at over the top drawings in comic series like Crossed. Atmospheric horror, in contrast, is often too subtle for him to take much interest in. He doesn’t advertise this interest very much, as he doesn’t want to get drawn into conversations with people who are too obsessed over it, but he has been known to make an appearance at the horror club from time to time if there is a particularly good movie on.

When college scouts started to approach Danny in his senior year about scholarships to play hockey for them, his parents were thrilled at the opportunity for financial aid. Erin and Alanna had graduated from community college two years earlier, but struggled to find any work beyond entry-level retail and hospitality jobs in Vegas. This convinced Danny’s parents that he should go to college to have better job prospects going forward.

Danny has mixed feelings about this situation. While he loves hockey and is happy for the chance to play it at the collegiate level, he also still loves dancing. However, he is being pushed to drop it in favour of practicing hockey more by his parents, his coach, and some of his peers. Danny can see the logic in this, but asking him not to dance anymore feels to him like asking him to cut off a limb, and he has yet to commit to doing so. When he wants to blow off the stress from this at home, Danny continues to enjoy browsing fashion catalogues and blogs online for inspiration when he can next go shopping. He also enjoys finding a slasher movie or horror Youtuber to watch while switching off mentally.

While he is unhappy with his parents pushing him to commit fully to hockey, his relationship with them is still for the most part good. He bonds with his father over their mutual love for hockey, and while he doesn’t have much in common with his mother, they still get along well enough. His relationship with his sisters also remains positive, though he is eager for them to move out of the house already so that there is more room. They have not moved out due to claiming to not earn enough money to afford a decent place yet, and can save money more easily by continuing to live at home.

Regardless of whether he goes to college or not, Danny is uncertain about his future. He has no clear idea what he’d like to major in, or what he would do for a job if he doesn’t go pro with hockey. A part of him likes the idea of becoming a hockey or dancing coach, so that he can continue to engage with the activities every day, but for now those are just idle ideas without any real effort at developing them as professions.

Advantages: Danny is in excellent physical condition, being a lifelong practitioner of hockey and dancing. Between hockey and his short temper, he is also experienced in brawling and will not flinch from a fistfight. His reputation for starting fights may also give him an edge in intimidating other students. Danny’s strong work ethic gives him an intense focus, allowing him to put all his attention on his current task. Finally, he is practiced at salvaging broken or discarded objects, allowing him to improvise new tools or repair existing ones.
Disadvantages: Danny has a noticeable temper, which has gotten him into trouble more than once. While he is not as quick to jump into a fight as he has been in the past, he will not hesitate to escalate an argument instead of defusing it, nor will he refrain from violence if the situation goes far enough. This could easily lead to him picking a fight that he isn’t prepared for. Danny also has a noticeable perfectionist streak when it comes to working with others, and may start throwing insults quickly if he thinks people are holding him back. This could make it difficult for him to find reliable allies. Danny’s tendency to get into arguments and fights at school may also force him to deal with people he has previously antagonised who hold a grudge.

Hi there Slam! Danny is looking good right now but requires a few small edits before he'll be able to go into the game. It's nothing major though so you should be able to get it done fairly quick.

Just for clarification purposes is Danny's tattoo coloured or just black?
In first grade, Danny met his lifelong best friend:
In middle school, Danny moved away from ballet,
Just a these two commas here for me.
into jazz dancing through school friends .
We've got an accidental space here. Also can I just a bit more detail on how his friends introduced him to jazz dancing?

With Danny's competitiveness and taking it out on teammates and partners did this cause any additional issues? Like suspension from the team or a lack of partners for dancing? Did the fights have any repercussions at school? With his dancing it comes up here and the implication is he takes part in dance contests but that isn't actually mentioned in the profile, so if this is the case can it be added in for me.
around this in his hobbies with second hand equipment
Second-hand is typically hyphenated.

Does Danny's family attend Vegas Knights games at all?

With his sisters still being in the house, can we get clarification if this is because they're working or such? As obviously they'd have graduated by now so we'll need some explanation as to why they're loitering around the house taking up Danny's space.
and will not flinch from a fist-fight.
Fistfight is one word.

Finally, with Danny's fashion hobby, can we just get an update as to where we're at with that. As we get an update on his hockey and dance hobbies at the same time, but not this one.

And that is everything I caught, if you post back here once you've made the edits I'll take another look for you!
