Ty hadn't said anything against playing and Derek's companion already readied a table.

For the first time on the island, Derek dared to give a slight smile in return. Things were looking fine, at least for the moment.

And with that, Ty took her seat at the table.

It was weird, almost like it was back at school? And not a death game. She’d been wandering around alone for so long, normalcy felt like an oddity. She remembered how odd it was back during quarantine, where she was stuck at home a lot with Storm and only had to keep herself busy. Storm was as handsome and patient a dog as always, but she had missed how much she liked working out the way she normally did. So it was weird meeting up to play lawn games with the rest of the Betties, or hanging out with the rest of the cheer squad, or just going to class.

This must be what they mean by ‘the new normal.’ Ty had laughed at the thought before, but like, once you get used to weirdness the normal shit seems more weird than the actually weird shit.
