Appearance: Ms. Zhang is a short, heavyset Chinese-American woman at 5 feet tall exactly and 147 pounds. She has a round face with small, dark brown eyes, a button nose and perpetually-pursed lips. Her greying black hair is cut short and spiky for easy maintenance and lowest risk, given her frequent chemistry labs. Ms. Zhang dresses in warm colors, particularly pastels and favoring yellow over all. She likes to dress up but usually has to choose practicality over style for her work. As such, she most often eschews jewelry and makeup during her regular work hours.

Biography/Personality: Ms. Zhang returned to teaching around the time that George Hunter High was opened, following a break of about ten years during which she married, became a stay-at-home mom, and subsequently divorced. The stress of being a now-single mother to two middle schoolers has left its mark on her physically, but her forceful, upbeat attitude seems unchanged. Ms. Zhang is well-liked by many students for her engaging classes and amusing banter during lectures and one-on-one conversations, and for how forgiving she is with grades. The only thing that she never compromises on is safety in the lab, and anyone who thinks that they can get away with dangerous behavior there will find themselves summarily ejected from the classroom for the rest of the period.

Many have noted the similarities between Caroline and Zhi, and due to their similar temperaments and approaches to teaching the two are quite close friends and often get together in their free time to have drinks and discuss married life.
