Nathan Connors

I was, for various reasons, unsatisfied with Asher Williams, who I went to the trouble of posting a full bio for in the V4 concepts thread several months ago, so now I'm taking another stab with this. Feel free to be brutally honest, I've got thick enough skin when you attack my work and not me, personally.

EDIT: Seeing some of the comments made on other profiles, I've pre-emptively expanded Nathan's bio a little.



Name: Nathan Connors
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: 12th
School: Bayview High
Hobbies and Interests: He's got at least some interest in almost everything nerdy, including (in no particular order) video games, anime, tabletop roleplaying games, and ranting on the internet about DRM.

Appearance: Nathan Connors is a short, skinny, and pale-skinned, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has contacts, which he wears on special occasions like every now and again when he manages to land a date, but for the most part he wears his glasses, which, in defiance of stereotypes, are neither thick nor dorky. His face is blemished here and there, but it's not something you'd notice if you weren't looking for it. He's usually wearing his white hoodie with a pair jeans.

Biography: Nathan is the only child of a lawyer and a real estate agent, both of whom are more than willing to give him whatever toys and gadgets their ample funds can provide so long as he maintains good grades and doesn't get himself involved with the wrong sorts of people. When he was younger this meant Final Fantasy VII, video box sets of Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing, and a ludicrous number of D&D rulebooks. Now that he's older it's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, DVDs of Battlestar Galactica, and every supplement to Vampire: The Masquerade and Paranoia ever created.

Nathan didn't have many friends in elementary school, even when Pokemon took the nation by storm and suddenly his nerdy obsessions were mainstream, he was still considered to be weird because A) He was even more obsessed than everyone else (somehow), and B;) Because he'd always been the weird one and always would be. He had one good friend by the name of Sean, who moved away in the summer between fourth and fifth grade. Fifth grade was probably one of Nathan's less pleasant years because of this.

Once he got into middle school, he remained a member of the unpopular crowd, but he was able to find a few good friends among the similarly outcast nerds of the school, and he was perfectly content with this. Nathan was not in the least bit interested in going to a booze party when he could be playing StarCraft at a LAN party instead. In fact, he'd rather be playing StarCraft on his own than endure the rampant idiocy of his classmates. His arrogance is, for the most part, kept contained by a desire not to talk to make any kind of social contact with anyone who isn't a part of his immediate circle of friends. His grades have always been good, partly because the schoolwork was fairly easy for him and partly because he sees good grades as one more thing seperating him from the jocks and bullies.

Nathan's home life is stable, but largely because his parents don't pay much attention to him. They're proud enough of their son for his good grades and high ambitions for college, but they're both busy and often don't have much time to show it. Nathan doesn't resent his parents for this, but every now and again he's made painfully aware that he barely knows them and they barely know him.

Advantages: Nathan can think logically and analytically, and his regular departures from the mundane into the world of fantasy could conceivably give him an edge in working through problems like "How do I get out of this building without getting killed by the players waiting outside it?"

Disadvantages: Nathan is physically mediocre, has few friends and is a familiar target for any bullies who become players, and has few social skills. He is prone to panic attacks and bouts of suicidal despair in the face of overwhelming odds, and he is almost certain to be voted "least likely to be able to shoot a gun while doing a one-handed handstand on a tree branch" in the yearbook.
