Miranda Wittgenstein*

Post by Deleted User (V4) »

Name: Miranda Wittgenstein
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Grade: 12th
School: Bayview Secondary School

Hobbies and Interests: Movies, reading, ancient history, volleyball. Secretly obsessed with gore and violence.

Appearance: Her hair is short, straight, black, at times held up in two tiny pigtails, but usually kept as it is. It reaches her chin in length, but has a shorter, layered fringe, the outer bangs reaching her nose, the inner ones right above the eyelids. With softly arched, thin eyebrows, a small nose pointing faintly upwards, and thin lips curving upwards at the corners, she always looks somewhat amused; her eyes are brown, almond shaped. She has very feminine facial features; her face is heart-shaped and slightly elongated, with a small chin. Her skin is of an healthy tone, though easily sunburnt, and so she avoids exposing herself to the sun without protections, thus rarely ever getting a tan. She often wears makeup: some pink or light purple lipstick, and a thin line of purple eyeliner pencil are what she usually wears at school or during the day, but she likes makeup a lot, and enjoys putting it on for special occasions such as Halloween, when she can get away with overdoing it. She usually doesn't wear jewellery, except for a tiny silver chain around her left wrist and the occasional pair of earrings.

She's of average height, not nearly as tall as the greatest part of her relatives. She's built in an healthy way, and is quite thin due to her practicing volleyball constantly since she was a child. Because of this, her body has quite some flexibility (though not as much as a dancer's); she might not be strong, but she's quick and has good reflexes. Her chest is nothing special: her round breasts could barely be called a B cup. She moves elegantly, mostly due to the fact that she risked back problems when a child and her posture had to be corrected.

Her clothes are usually casual but feminine, and she clearly favours the colours purple, pink and black. T-shirts and hoodies with cute monsters drawn on them are common in her wardrobe, and so are tight, simple pants, but she has no problems wearing a skirt when the situation requires so. She strongly dislikes flats, and usually wears sneakers or low heels.

Biography: Despite the tragedy occurred when she was only two (the death of both of her parents in a car accident) Miranda's childhood was not an unhappy one. Her aunt Anna Wittgenstein, currently 49, happily married with a younger man (Stephan Wilson, 44) and with two other daughters to take care of, despite her apparent coldness due to a stern and laconic personality, loved and cared for the little girl as if she was her real daughter. Miranda went to school, had friends, and never suffered too much for the lack of real parents: to her, the one she lived with was her one and only true family.

Her older cousin, Edith, wasn't exactly thrilled to have another little girl around: and while as a five years old she swore to herself she would've made the toddler's life a living hell, the thought slipped, with time and with the arrival of a younger sister. A blonde amazon in looks, with a scholarship for athletic merits and several suitors, she never suspected the feelings of jealousy had shifted from her to the cousin. Miranda never actually enjoyed Edith's company, but never did anything to voice her discomfort. Terrified of a possible comparison with "such a successful girl", she simply avoided conflict by putting the greatest part of her efforts on completely different things. At six, as soon as she could read, she started to become interested in the old History books in her uncle's room, and exploited Mrs Wittgenstein's second pregnancy to sneak away and read whatever she could find, even when she wasn't old enough to understand it yet. This kept her busy during her first school years, along with the many issues of having to deal with a toddler, her second cousin Sharon. They are very close, despite the age gap.

During her primary school days, she didn't have many problems making friends, and often shared the little pieces of knowledge the books she had found had taught her. At the same time, her interests were slowly shifting towards less popular topics: the discovery of books about the inquisition was the beginning of her almost unhealthy interest in methods of torture. It would take a few years before she was old enough to research freely and without being monitored: the only other important occurrences preceding middle school were her newly discovered passion for volleyball, the only sport she ever agreed to play, and the "stray cat accident". Having found a lonely cat wandering around, Miranda, inspired by her readings, decided to try and practice what she had discovered upon the animal, something that, thanks to her hesitations and unwillingness to actually make the creature suffer, resulted in several scratches on her body and a very worried uncle, who, after having scolded the crying child, decided to simply brush it off as one of those wicked things children end up doing when they don't understand what's wrong and what's right; he freed the cat, took care of the scratches and never brought up the topic again after a long lecture about what a horrible thing it is to cause pain to others. Her aunt was never informed about Miranda's initial attempt to harm the cat, and was simply told the girl had tried to bring it home.

The girl had conflicted feelings about the accident; partially still curious, but horrified at the same time, she never tried to experiment again, but could never lose her interest in bloody, violent topics, deciding to simply keep to herself the passionate researches about serial killers and tortures during her next school years. Middle school was the place in which she had her first real friendships, especially with two girls who had been her playmates when she was very young; those are also the years in which she started to get interested in movies and actually entered the school's volleyball team. The constant training strengthened her, making her less of a frail little girl, and she soon forgot about the accident of few years before. Her time in Bayview Secondary School (the same school in which Edith distinguished herself for her athletic skills)was, for the greatest part, a wonderful experience. She slowly overcame her childhood grudge against her eldest cousin, made new friends, and, though never amongst the best students, her grades were more than decent.

When the first SOTF game took place, once again she felt torn between the part of her that felt disgust towards what was happening and the part that felt a morbid, sickening attraction, and at first chose to believe what the government had said about it only to have her doubts confirmed as soon as the second one begun. Although scared, she kept researching as much as she could.

Miranda is seen as a calm, sarcastic young girl by most, and even though she isn't exactly popular, has the reputation of a trustworthy, kind individual: she tries to help people whenever she can, and does not shy away from public occasions or responsibilities. With her very close friends she is much more lively and energetic, and is good at motivating them whenever they feel down. Her schoolmates know nothing about her unsettling interests, and she tries her best to get along with everyone or to simply go unnoticed when this isn't possible. Deep inside, she can be selfish and envious at times, and has serious issues trusting people, even the closest ones, but she usually manages not to let these impulses take over her, or at least to avoid making the people around her aware of them. She has a few close friends at school; instead, while she's been infatuated with a few boys, she has never had a real boyfriend, due to her being often unlucky in her choices and feeling slightly uncomfortable when dealing with sentimental matters, and thus has no sexual experience.

She is planning to take a degree in Ancient History and eventually become a teacher; she'd really like to have a family with more than one child, just like her own, provided that she finds the right person for herself.

Advantages: Miranda is flexible, and has good reflexes; she reacts quickly, even under pressure, and though not nearly as athletic as a lot of people around her, she is no couch potato, thanks to her dedication to volleyball. She also has the reputation of a calm, helpful girl, and this could be of help in case she needed to interact with people; her looks – she is after all a cute girl – could be used the same way, in extreme situations. Being terrified by the concept of death, she would probably do anything to avoid her own.

Disadvantages: By no means desensitised to real life violence despite her morbid interest in it, she has the same possibilities of losing it as anyone else. She has little physical strength, and could do little to nothing in a fight with a bad intentioned, stronger opponent; in fact, she's never been in a real fight, and has never received great injuries apart from the occasional sprained ankle, so she's definitely not used to pain. She could also succumb to her own weaknesses: her habit of secretly holding grudges, together with her being suspicious and mistrustful, might get in the way of a cooperation with her schoolmates.
