Ignatian Teller

Name: Ignatian Teller
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: 12
School: Bayview Secondary School
Hobbies and Interests: Fishing, Hiking, Camping

Appearance: At 5' 11" and weighing 175 pounds, Ignatian isn't the kind of figure that stands out in a crowd. His close cropped brown hair is generally brushed forward, covering a slight widow's peak. A square jaw leads to a wide chin, where a light dusting of stubble tends to reside. His brown eyes are set apart by a somewhat large greek nose that still shows the lingering aftereffects of an adolescent acne problem. A small white scar above his right eyebrow stands out against the light olive tone of his skin. Though not particularly fit, Ignatian's body is solid, with only a little extra fat covering his average frame.

Ignatian dresses for utility, rather then out of any sense for fashion or trends. As such you will often find him wearing a comfortably loose pair of jeans and a plain, colored t-shirt with sturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots. In colder times, he'll often sport a black padded winter coat.

Biography: Born the only child of Frank and Adelina Teller, Ignatian grew up in what could well be described as a happy home. His mother was caring and attentive, always ready with comfort and encouragement; and his father, though often away for business, was always certain to be there when his son needed him most. An oddity at his age, Ignatian has lived in the same home his whole life; giving him a sense of stability that few others possess. As a result he tends to be confused by the sometimes irrational behavior that some of the other children with more difficult upbringings exhibit.

Though he cares for his parents, Ignatian is honest enough to admit that it was the time he spent with his grandfather, Jason Teller, that had the most influence on his life.

Jason Teller was a very spiritual man, serving in the novitiate of the Jesuit priests before being drafted into World War 2. He loved his grandson, and did his best to instill into him the lessons he learned in his formation. While Ignatian has never put too much stock in religion, the Jesuit values of reflection, humility, and "finding good in all things" have deeply ingrained themselves within him.

Ignatian would visit his grandfather every summer, and it was from these trips that he developed his love of the outdoors. In his younger years he and his grandfather would fish for hours in a leaky old rowboat, coming in only when the sun had finished its journey over the horizon. As he grew older, his grandfather tried to teach him how to hunt, but an accident with a too-powerful rifle and it's attached scope left Ignatian with a distaste for firearms and the scar he still wears today.

Though his grandfather passed away several years ago, Ignatian still travels every summer around the same time to a nearby lake for a couple days of "roughing it." He often brings nothing along but a sleeping bag, some basic supplies, and of course, his fishing pole.

In a school or social setting, Ignatian tends to be reserved, often finding himself listening to other people talk and only responding when prompted. Though he rarely butts heads with other people, they tend to find him standoffish, or think him shy. As a result, he has only a few close friends. On occasion, this behavior has made Ignatian the target of mean spirited pranks by people failing to get a rise out of his calm demeanor.

Ignatian does well in his schooling, his methodical approach to homework and tests ensuring that he will have little trouble making it to graduation day.

Advantages: Ignatian is usually very calm, more likely to think through a situation then to panic. Due to his background in the great outdoors, he has the capacity to travel for longer periods then an average high schooler; as well as the know-how to work his way through a woodland area without too much difficulty.
Disadvantages: Though not an outright phobia, Ignatian's past history with guns causes him to have a noticeable flinch when firing them. It's likely that given the choice, he'd pick something else to use as a weapon. In addition, Ignatian does have a past history with some of the bullies of Bayview Secondary School, though he holds no particular animosity towards any of them.
