Name: Matthew Bittlesgate
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: Senior
School: John Endecott Memorial Academy
Hobbies and Interests: Ducks, photo editing, photography, weightlifting, socializing

Appearance: Matt stands at 6’0” and weighs 178 lbs. His skin tone is a light ivory color and usually tanned. He has a strong and well-built looking frame with a small amount of notable muscle definition on his arms. When not relaxing, his posture is kept upright.

His face is square-shaped and has a healthy glow, with a few light freckles scattered across it that also adorn his arms. His narrow, light blue eyes sit below naturally straight eyebrows that are on the thinner side. Furthermore, he has a straight and well-defined nose and average-sized lips. He’s usually found with a smile on his face. His hair is brown with a natural red tint and is between short and medium-length. It’s choppy, has natural waves, and is usually styled slightly up with some strands hanging in his face. He is generally clean-shaven.

While he cares about his appearance, his everyday fashion is rather simple due to limited time in the mornings. He prefers basic, regular fit t-shirts in earthy colors and shorts or jeans, depending on the weather, and trainers for shoes. Every now and then he wears a shirt that could be considered funny, his favorites being a white shirt with a huge pocket across his chest, and a sweatshirt with a print that says “The Walking Dad” in the same style of letters as The Walking Dead.

Biography: Matt was born on April 6th, 2003, as an only child to April Bittlesgate and Terrence Little in Wakefield, MA. The two of them were high school sweethearts and married at a young age. April became a software engineer and Terrence a football coach for their old high school. The pregnancy was planned and anticipated, though with time the two revealed more disparities between themselves. While they felt and showed nothing but love for Matt after he was born, their own relationship felt like a friendship at that point. They were slowly growing apart and tension grew, so they decided to get a divorce eventually as the best course of action for everyone’s mental health. Both sides of the family were surprised but acted supportive after an explanation.

Matt was five when April decided to move out of their home. She wanted to move to a different town as a change of scenery and pace, but still stay close to her family. Her choice fell on Salem, MA. As the parent with primary physical custody, she took Matt with her to her new apartment. Matt couldn’t fully comprehend the actions at that age and was sad about the fact that he was going to spend less time with his father, but April made it sound like an exciting adventure to him where he could meet new friends. Matt accepted that and only later understood what a divorce really meant. At that point, he was already used to the situation. One year later, April met her new partner, Mitchell Holt, a local gardener. He had a deceased wife and a son who’s already moved out. They eventually moved to his house with a small backyard farm that he had inherited from his parents and grew into a loving family.

Matt adapted well to the changes and thus his early life was simple and carefree. As a child, he was always very cheerful and loud, often getting into mindless mischief due to his curious nature. He loved the atmosphere of Salem and liked the tours given by Mitchell to familiarize them with the new area. He found friends in the neighbourhood and would spend most of his time outside, often wandering off further than he was initially allowed to. He was lectured on it but April didn’t want to stifle his enthusiasm and fun, thus letting him move on without consequences. Part of being outside also involved their backyard farm that had enough space for chickens, ducks, and some vegetables. Matt was quickly fascinated by the ducks, specifically for how friendly they were, and learned more about the ways of handling them through his new stepfather, Mitchell. It created good memories that made him feel more love for them. He is especially close to and fond of one of the ducks currently since he helped raise it after it was the sole survivor of three abandoned eggs.

Entering school life, Matt was very sociable. Sometimes he had trouble focusing on tasks due to too much goofing around, but it was nothing serious that needed professional help. His grades were good enough to not be a major problem and that was enough for his parents. In middle school, his bonds with his friends strengthened and he started to feel more protective over them. He didn’t hesitate to stand up for them and confront the source of the issue if something came up. It usually ended peacefully and made him feel even more confident than he was already growing up to be. If it didn’t end peacefully or he couldn’t resolve the problem, he felt frustrated but tried to grow from it.

It was around that time when photo editing and photography became two of his interests. His father got him a high-end tablet and Matt started to get more familiar with the internet while also using it to snap pictures of his surroundings. He loved looking at memes and soon joined in to make his own, enjoying the attention they got if he decided to upload them. Over the years, he started to feel more serious about it, meaning he not only edited memes but also got a better camera to take more high-quality pictures of scenery or people to touch them up. Besides the fun, he also thought of it as a possible career path. Combined with his ongoing love for memes, it has gathered him a small following on social media, along with his current like for doing TikTok videos with his duck and his one-year-old son Toby.

Becoming a father in high school was not an event he had planned but one he welcomed. He met Toby’s mother, Soph Briar, a few months prior to the pregnancy at a state fair while he was out with friends. She went to a different school and is one year older than him. The pregnancy was unplanned and at that time, they were casually dating and not in an official relationship. Matt was scared but excited when they found out since he often thought about how he wanted to have a big family one day. Soph had more doubts since she had already planned and organized to study abroad in the UK for the following year. After giving it a lot of time and feeling uncomfortable about the thought of abortion, she decided to keep the baby but still followed her plans. The reactions to the pregnancy were mixed from both close families and it took some time for some of them to fully accept it, but once they got over the initial shock, Toby was welcome. Matt’s parents were displeased with him for not being careful enough and his biological father was disappointed for the same reason, but meeting Soph’s parents who were quicker to accept it helped.

Early fatherhood turned out more difficult than Matt expected, but with the support and care from his family and friends, after Soph left for her studies, Matt was able to stay on track with school and earning some money with his photo editing skills on the side. He didn’t like that Soph had to leave but accepted it after talking to her about it. It had been one of her big dreams and having a child was permanent now, so cancelling everything and waiting for another opportunity to arise while Toby was getting older seemed more difficult than just following the plan. Matt and Soph had their ups and downs, but they still care for each other deeply and talk and video call each other regularly, making sure Toby was seeing her as well. Their current relationship status is open and works better as close friends. It suits both of their lifestyles. April, who has the option to work from home every now and then, makes sure that Matt has enough time for himself and other teenage activities no matter how much Matt wants to prove himself by doing the most work for Toby. It reminded her of herself getting married young. Matt appreciates this a lot since he generally doesn’t take enough breaks.

Matt likes to stay in shape and found that weightlifting was the easiest way to achieve that. It turned into a frequent activity once he joined the body improvement club at school. It is the social aspect that sells it for him, but even outside of it, he enjoys doing it with the couple of weights he has at home.

Academically, Matt is rather average. He had a slight drop in his grades at the beginning of high school, but managed to pick them back up to a B in most subjects, with English being his best subject and Latin his worst. He thinks about his future often but hasn’t decided on a set path just yet. He would prefer to find a part-time job first that would earn him more money, then look into media studies.

Socially, Matt has a big circle of friends thanks to his naturally charismatic personality and being friendly towards people, if sometimes a bit pushy. He enjoys parties and attends them semi-frequently when time allows it. Toby is usually left with his grandparents on these occasions. Matt likes to engage in casual flings at them or wherever the opportunity arises just for the fun of it, not meaning any harm. He is straight, though has been feeling more curious and open about his sexuality recently.

He is on decent terms with his family, being especially close to his mother. The amount of time Matt spends with his father has lessened after Terrence had gotten into a new relationship but nevertheless, they’re still in contact. Matt gets along well with Soph’s parents and they spend a big amount of time with Toby as loving grandparents. Overall, he is taking on the role of fatherhood with pride and dismisses any negative comments about it. He had felt judged at times but was surprised by the support from his community. Thinking about the future and doing his best for Toby stresses him out sometimes, but his optimism is quick to calm him down.

Advantages: Matt is not afraid to speak his mind and is open to working with people together, willing to push through things even when it gets hard. Additionally, he is in good shape from his regular exercise.
Disadvantages: Matt is a bit stubborn at times and doesn’t realize when he’s overstepping boundaries, which can quickly rub people the wrong way. He tends to be overconfident in his abilities and is frustrated when things don’t go the way he expected. This can lead to him making rash decisions.

Hello, Kotori.

It's me, Ruggahissy. Despite being a documented member of the kultori, your profile has a few things that need sprucing before it can go through. Do not revoke my membership, please.

“His face is square-shaped and has a healthy glow, with a few light freckles scattered across it that also adore his arms.”

I think this is meant to be "adorn his arms," though I am sure we all adore them as well.

“Over the years, he started to feel more serious about it and uses photographs of scenery or people to enhance or alternate objects.”

- I’m not sure what this means he does with the photos of people and scenery, exactly. Additionally, only the iPad is mentioned for photography. Does he ever buy a camera?

“He met Toby’s mother, Soph Briar, a year prior to the pregnancy, which happened due to them not being careful enough. Their relationship status was at an awkward stage and Matt was scared but excited when they found out since he often thought about how he wanted to have a big family one day. Soph had more doubts since she had already planned and organized to study abroad for the following year. After giving it a lot of time and feeling uncomfortable about the thought of abortion, she decided to keep the baby but still followed her plans. The reactions to the pregnancy were mixed from both close families and it took some time for some of them to fully accept it, but once they got over the initial shock, Toby was welcome.”

- I’m doing the math and Toby is a year old now with Matt being 18 which means that (assuming Soph is the same age) that she was pregnant at 16 and they meet for the first time when Matt is 15. However, I’m not sure if she is the same age since study abroad tends to be more common in college than it is for high school – at least it’s not something JEM offers. If she’s studying abroad, it’s with a high school program that’s not with JEM.

Where did he meet Soph? How old is she? Does she go to another school? Were they dating at the time that she became pregnant/ what was the relationship between them like before? Did they discuss her canceling her study abroad? Having a child is a pretty serious unforeseen responsibility. Where is her study abroad? How did specifically Matt’s parents and his biological father take it?

“April makes sure that Matt has enough time for himself and other teenage activities no matter how much Matt wants to prove himself by doing the most work for Toby.”

- The profile says that she was a software engineer. Does she work from home or otherwise have a way to take Toby off Matt’s hands a lot of the time?

- It says he has casual flings at parties. Is he a frequent party-goer? Does he leave his son with the grandparents on these occasions?

- Has being a father stressed Matt out in any way? Has he experienced any kind of stigma from people who aren’t his classmates, like the community, as a result of being a teen dad?

That's about it. Let me know when edits are done and I'll take another look.
