Priya Badayuni

-At first glance: Priya is a scraggly kid, barely breaking 5' and concerningly skinny. It/she/they pronouns in descending order of preference. Dresses slightly alternatively, and is most distinguishable by their recent hobby in scarification, which has resulted in plenty of concerned reach-outs to their parents.

-Personality: Always chasing a dopamine hit, Priya has an easily addictive, distractable personality caused in part by adhd and in part by a sheltered childhood. They are easily obsessive but appears chill on the outside. Overthinker who tries not to overthink too much, kind of chillax. It's an open secret that their family situation isn't doing all that well. Surprisingly straight-edge otherwise; doesn't touch alcohol and deferential to authority. They like to hang out with other kids and can keep a conversation going for hours. Cheery.

-Activities: An art and music kid, often found in the arts wing of the school working on a ceramics project. They feel comfortable as "one of the boys" in a way and shows up a lot in the audience whenever there's a school sports thing going on.

-Looking for: Priya's the sort to have a small handful of really close friends, but that handful doesn't tend to last for very long as they burn out and get bored of them after a while. Also, some people would defo think that the kid carving stuff into their legs is fucked up and look at them weird for it tbh.

Katrina:

-At first glance: Peppy, excitable cheer girl. Bubbly but you can tell there's something a bit wrong with her.

-Personality: People-pleasing. Desperate to be respected. Cluster B *something* which her therapist hasn't figured out completely yet.

Activities: Cheer, blogging, maybe something like model UN or DECA as well. Her secret favorite hobby? Stalking people online. She's also kind of a jirai girl.

Looking for: Her general social circle consists of 1 person she gets really attached to for a few months, and everyone in that person's peripheral. Do you want to be that person?

Tian Shu "Florrie" Wen

-At first glance: That neighborhood kid with a 4.0 and 350 volunteer hours and a scholarship and five national awards and a club president role that your parents always compared you to. She's a hard worker, a bit of a teacher's pet, and a bit intimidating, and works very hard to come off as being nearly perfect on the outside while still maintaining some semblance of a social life. Likes a bit of embroidery on her skirts, dresses like a grandma sometimes.

-Personality: Neurotic, perfectionistic, people-pleaser but only for a few specific people, the rest can get fucked. Measures her self worth in medals and grades. Not particularly popular, but reliable.

-Activities: DECA, HOSA, student government. Tutors for AP calc and physics, maybe also chem

-Personality: Low-empathy, unncommunicative at times, alexithymic. Outwardly somewhat aloof but otherwise normal.

Boy do I not know how to handle multiple pronouns so I’m gonna follow suit with you and use they.

I have no idea of the relationship they’d have with Heather but I feel like it’d be interesting. I have nothing solid I can suggest but I would very much like to see the two of them interact.

Hope is a huge stan for the baseball team and plays on the girls’ soccer team so might be a connection there? She can definitely chat for hours about her interests but I feel liks she’d have a visceral distaste for the scarification thing, kinda taking it irrationally personally that someone would choose to do that with an able body.

Mercy’s probably just casually kind of a dick to them, they’d cross paths often enough in artistic circles for it to be a problem I think.

Not a femcel though, she definitely fucks, not exactly popular at school but somewhat popular online so could be the subject of a one-sided crush as a niche internet microcelebrity? I feel like Mortimer’s gonna be a shared connection here so that’s possibly worth looking at - relatedly, LK’s at least a little receptive to edgy humour so they could potentially have a bit of a surface-level rapport?

I don’t think my other girls really know she exists, possible that Mercy has given her shit for her taste in music, also possibly she has a crush on Mercy anyway?

Florrie
I sense Heather animosity, not a surprise as Heather is a contentious person. Finds her to be way too much, needs to chill out and stop worshipping The System and etc. In return I imagine Florrie thinking she’s an aggressive and obnoxious asshole with no prospects. In a different genre they’d probably have fans shipping them…

Probably doesn’t get on that well with Mercy or LK either, but on a less intense level that’s not really worth remarking on.

Hope possibly comes to her for tutoring? I’m not sure how American school works but since she wants to get into a medicine-adjacent field chemistry is probably important for her. In return, whilst she’s way lower on the attainment end, maybe Hope’s dedication and such is kinda charming? She doesn’t seem to have a natural talent for much of anything but dangit does she try hard and refuses to let anything hold her back.

Depending on the circumstances I see Heather either hating this poor kid’s guts or being a rare genuine friend and source of comfort. Kinda up to you what you think would serve his narrative better I guess?

LK is a fellow gamer, could be something there. Her mental health glow up since transitioning could be an interesting point of divergence, maybe they were closer as youths but drifted apart when she blossomed and he continued to struggle?

Mercy feels like she’d be casualy antagonistic, she’s just not very tactful.

Hope maybe had TTRPGs in common but that’s not settled as yet, so bookmark for later.

- A good conversationalist who attends a lot of school sports stuff sounds like someone who'd befriend Clarissa at some point. Could be one of the people she entered the orbit of as a close friend then ghosted, with Clarissa being confused and concerned from a distance as she hears of an old friends exploits, that def fits with her character.

Katrina
- Cheer squads got some complicated ass dynamics and very vibrant powerful characters, I'm sure you can find one for Katrina to latch onto, or onto one of the other bombastic athletics girls. But Clarissa has a similar simpering, people-pleasing energy. Could be a bit of a power dynamic where Clarissa, unironically respecting Katrina's aesthetics, sort of following along with the latching onto a single person. The subordinate to the subordinate energy. Clarissa also wouldn't, consciously, sniff out Katrina's red flags. And Clarissa's online presence is prob fairly stalkable, if Katrina's into it.

Florrie
- She and Ray are both (outwardly) mature, academically driven people who hold people at something of a distance. Sounds like they'd get along well as fellow study buddies who don't have to get too deep into each others lives.

Rachel
- Ray, etc, we already worked this one out
- Mona gravitating towards the 'shes going to snap and put a bullet in someone' energy sounds about right. They're both terminally online anyways. Discord buddies and Mona occasionally feeds Rachel some fucked up doomer shit. Could be a bit of a convoluted dynamic where Rachel kind of dislikes Mona for being, like, too unhinged and probably shitting on her and bullying her in a low key 'I mean we are friends and friends shittalk each other' manner. Mona might be decent crush material on a surface level too, since she be attractive. Could further frustrate Rachel, load more powder into the chamber, etc.

Priya:

They find Heather *interesting,* if not a little too intense. They’re leftist but also not, like, actually involved in anything? And a lot of their political statements tend to be on the edgier, sillier side, they’re ironic and chronically unserious unfortunately.

They find Mercy cringe.

I think that they will remain largely oblivious to Hope’s discomfort; Priya is a tad insensitive, and would probably find her disability *cool* in a manner that’s not entirely respectful. They’re also transhumanist, albeit kind of shallowly, because they find some forms of body mods cool. And wrestling? Well, they’re not truly into it- it’s semi ironic. They like wrestling because it’s fake and gay and might indulge in a little cm punk rpf; that is, they’re not into wrestling: the sport, they’re into wrestling: the performance. It’s not a big interest of their’s but if wrestling ever comes to the conversation I can see them talking about it and finding a mutual, yet very different at the same time, interest.

Rachel (Mo + Jo Fusion):

Might be surface-level acquaintances with LK! But also, she is the type to easily regard things as “cringe” while being queer herself; she might be a slightly bad influence on LK’s self discovery journey as a result (“Don’t you think you look a little too stereotypical?”) She’s not going to post her on Kiwifarms or anything (thank god) but, I dunno, even though she doesn’t bring out that side of herself online some of her judgy sentiments do spill out.

I feel like she and Heather would kind of dislike each other.


Florrie:

Does not like Heather, big surprise there, but also doesn’t really care about her, nor is she particularly bothered. Just, like, “Oh, it’s that weird communist kid again.” Florrie is not outspoken about it or anything but will be casually anticommunist if the topic is brought up.

I’ve decided Florrie is more of a physics + engineering person, but if Hope comes to her for help she is very much down to help; the American school system tends to be more flexible in terms of choosing classes- I.E Some kids take bio before physics, some kids to it the other way around. Not sure if that’s the case for this version’s school as every school is a little bit different though. Maybe they take the class together and they were partners in a group project?
