let's go baby score a touchdown

9th February, open!

On the southern edge of Las Vegas is Meadowbrook, a close-knit, middle class neighborhood. The area is charming and nearly all of the houses sport the Spanish tile roofs common to the area. Front yards often have gardens with native plants due the ease and affordability of keeping those plants alive in the heat. While the area may lack the glamor of other parts of the city, residents find it an affordable and relatively safe place to live.

((Louay Al-Dabbaq continued from Punt on Your Feelings))

The Al-Dabbaq household was energetic as ever, even though the rest of his family was out that afternoon - dad was at work, mom was out meeting with some friends from mosque. Noor was doing... something, Louay didn't know what exactly. He paid it no mind, however, because they were fifteen minutes away from kickoff in Super Bowl LIX - something that he'd been waiting for eagerly. The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs for the second time in three years, the Eagles hoping to avenge their defeat while the Chiefs looked to get their third ring in a row and make NFL history.

Louay didn't really care much for the Eagles, even if Saquon Barkley had some cool moves this year. Their fans could be annoying sometimes, though Louay didn't interact with them much because the last time they had played the Raiders was in 2021.

However, as a Raiders fan, he was obligated to hate the Chiefs unconditionally. So of course, he was rooting for the Eagles.

Anyway. With the explicit condition that they didn't break anything and that their home was left as it had been when his father left, Louay was allowed to invite friends over to watch the game with him. They had plenty of snacks, drinks - nothing alcoholic as his father forbidded it in the house, but if someone was to hypothetically bring some... well, what his father didn't know wouldn't hurt him. Most of the invites had gone to his fellow players in the football team, but he wasn't going to be upset if other people showed up.

Unless they were Chiefs fans, of course.

"Alright, they should be starting in a little bit." Louay chirped as he entered the living room, glancing at the TV showing some pregame commentators talking about Mahomes and Hurts and the OL, a jumble of buzzwords and hot takes. If the invitees had some merch, he'd asked them to bring it and Louay was no exception with his prized Bowers jersey. Settling down on their couch with a bowl of Doritos, he glanced around at the people gathered, the conversations ongoing while they sipped beer he'd have to recycle carefully.

It was nice. To be surrounded by people with the same kind of interest as he had. His dad brought him to games, yes, but Louay could tell that he wasn't really into it in the same way that his son was. Dad would rather wake up early, crack a tin of soda open and watch Real Madrid. Which was fine - Louay would join him sometimes - but sometimes it felt a little lonely not being able to share this interest with him.
