Woodrow Ritter

Post by Frozen Smoke »

Name: Woodrow Ritter
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Grade: Senior
School: Southwest Red Rock High School
Hobbies and Interests: American football, athletics, organising parties, and social media.

Appearance: Woodrow is a Caucasian man with an imposing silhouette, standing at 6’2” tall, and weighing 192 lbs. He has long legs, broad shoulders, and a wide wingspan that leave his hands barely above his knees when resting by his side. Nearly all the weight on his frame is lean muscle, having approximately 12% body fat. His chest and biceps are noticeably well-developed, even beneath clothing. Although his skin is naturally pale, long hours under the hot Nevada sun have given him a deep golden tan, accented by a light dusting of sunspots across his upper back and neck.

He fits the traditional mould for male facial attractiveness, with a strong, square jaw, mid-height pronounced cheekbones and a straight nose framing his slightly narrow-set grey eyes. His full, light pink lips are usually in his resting expression of a slight smile. His naturally straight light brown hair is kept in a modern hairstyle, his sides shaved and the top of his hair permed to achieve a full, curly effect. He can grow a relatively full beard and moustache, but shaves frequently, ranging from clean-shaven to light stubble depending on how recently he has shaved.

Woodrow typically dresses in athleisure clothes, choosing brands such as Nike, Under Armour or Vuori, as they consistently accommodate his body shape. He prefers their light coloured, muted offerings, with his wardrobe primarily consisting of shades of white, sky blue and flecked light grey. The major exception to this is his red and black letterman jacket, a staple of his school wardrobe, proudly displaying the patches sewn into it representing his achievements as part of the football team and track program.

Biography: Woodrow Ritter was born on September 2nd, 2006 to Charlene Ritter and Jerry Frye at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charlene was a Program Manager for Cyber Security Strategy and Architecture at MGM Resorts International, and Jerry was working as a Maintenance Technician at a local car repair shop. The pregnancy was unplanned, as their relationship had been deteriorating since they moved in together two years prior, with the differences in their habits and personalities leading to regular arguments over Jerry’s lack of drive and contributions to the household, or Charlene’s tendency to overwork and unwillingness to compromise when making decisions as a couple. However, the news of the child led to the two of them trying to overcome their nature and make things work, giving Charlene enough confidence to go through with the birth.

In 2009, following the Great Recession and shortly after Woodrow turned 3, Jerry was let go from his position as a maintenance technician whilst Charlene survived a round of layoffs at MGM. This put major strain on their relationship, which only deepened as Jerry was unable to find new employment quickly. The breaking point came 6 months later, when Jerry forgot to log out of LinkedIn on their shared laptop, leading to Charlene discovering that he had been exaggerating the number of job applications he had been making. Feeling deeply betrayed about something so important to her led to her ending the relationship in the argument that followed.

Tempers cooled in the following days, but Charlene was firm in her decision, and Jerry prepared to move back in with family located in Reno, Nevada. The two of them reached a consensual custody arrangement without the need for arbitration, with Charlene taking primary custody while forgoing child maintenance, and Jerry holding weekend and holiday visitation rights. However, the distance between them and Jerry’s financial situation meant that he was only able to sporadically take advantage of this. Charlene and Jerry remain on speaking terms but avoid spending time with one another as much as possible.

Woodrow’s childhood was comfortable financially despite this, as Charlene’s salary on its own was sufficient to allow them to live an upper-middle class lifestyle in Meadowbrook. However, with Charlene regularly working too late to pick him up from a professional daycare, she began to rely on her retired father, Arthur, for childcare. As Arthur was a lifelong sports fan, this led to Woodrow spending many afternoons in front of the television watching local major sports teams such as the Las Vegas Aviators or the San Francisco 49ers play, sparking an early interest in athletics. The time spent together also served to cement their relationship, with Woodrow seeing Arthur as a more present father figure than Jerry.

As Woodrow entered elementary school, he quickly demonstrated his extroverted and energetic personality, easily making friends on the playground and enjoying the social environment. However, this energy translated poorly into the academic side of school, with his efforts to make his newfound friends laugh during class distracting him from taking in the material. This did not immediately become apparent outside of mentions of his unruliness and lack of focus in Parent-Teacher meetings, but in Grade 3 he took the SBAC for the first time and received a Level 1 in Maths and Level 2 in English, well below the expected results for his age.

Charlene reacted negatively to this news, believing she had failed to instill sufficient drive and discipline in Woodrow. She punished him for this perceived failure by removing his access to toys and the TV at home whilst trying to force him to focus on schoolwork. This did not have the intended effect, with Woodrow rebelling by refusing to complete worksheets, or deliberately completing them incorrectly to avoid having to engage with it. After a few months of failed efforts, Arthur suggested the alternative of allowing Woodrow to sign up for Pop Warner football the following year if he achieved the grades required by the program of Level 3 or above. Charlene was initially hesitant due to the health risks posed by playing football, but Woodrow showed immediate and vocal enthusiasm for the idea, and she eventually agreed to the deal.

With this serving as motivation, Woodrow’s attitude towards studying began to improve, as he began making a genuine effort in class and at home. This allowed him to catch up on the learning he had missed in the previous years. However, it was not enough to bring him up to speed with the class, and he only achieved a Level 2 in both subjects for Grade 4, which dismayed Woodrow as he felt he had done everything he could. Seeing this, Charlene decided to reward him anyway, purchasing tickets to an Oakland Raiders game for him and Arthur to attend together. This positive reinforcement led to Woodrow continuing his newfound habits, and by Grade 5 he was able to achieve a Level 3 in both subjects and qualify for Pop Warner.

He was not an immediate stand-out as a player or athlete upon joining the program at the start of middle school, as the players with multiple years of coaching were more technically able, and those who had started puberty earlier could outmatch him physically. That did not matter to Woodrow, who quickly found that football provided an environment where his rambunctious and outspoken nature was celebrated rather than restrained. The coaches equally thought highly of him, as he took instruction well and practiced with enthusiasm rather than saving all his effort for the games. Thanks to this, he often found a spot on the starting lineup on gameday, but often at a different position on the field each week based on teammate availability.

It was during this point in his life when Jerry’s financial situation improved, and he was able to more regularly meet his son on the weekend, trying his best to reconnect after years of infrequent visits that mostly centred around special occasions such as his birthday or Christmas. Woodrow found this experience unsettling to begin with, as it prevented him from spending his weekends with Arthur, and the small, sparsely furnished apartment he rented reinforced the image of Jerry as a perennial loser, shaped by Charlene’s offhand comments. Over time, this faded. Jerry learned how to keep Woodrow entertained, while Woodrow grew to trust and feel comfortable around his father. Whilst they have participated in many different activities over the years, a regular choice – and Woodrow’s favourite – became the driving range, as the friendly competition and physical activity gave him an ideal outlet for conversation. These visits continue to the current day, with Woodrow spending the second weekend of every month in Reno with Jerry.

Woodrow hit puberty in the summer between Grade 6 and 7, returning to school at 5’9” and being one of the tallest in his class, though with little weight to go with his newfound height. This and his reputation amongst the teachers who volunteered in Pop Warner led to him being encouraged to try out other sports such as basketball, soccer, and baseball. His natural athleticism was enough to allow him to excel at these as well at this level, quickly becoming a multiple-sport star in the school, although he approached them more casually than his true passion, football. That relaxed demeanour only helped him to grow his burgeoning friend group, as he was always ready with an encouraging word or a joke to break the tension at practice, something which endeared him to his teammates.

During the latter half of Grade 8, Woodrow began to listen to the Joe Rogan Experience after it was brought up in passing on an NFL talk show he was watching, and was drawn in by the range of guests telling incredible real stories of surviving alone in the Alaskan wilderness or being kidnapped by Somalian pirates for 2 years, whilst keeping the conversation at a level he could easily follow. As the extensive archive meant he would never be left waiting for a new episode, it became his go-to thing to listen to whilst exercising. This link deepened when he listened to an episode of JRE featuring Derek Munro from More Plates More Dates, where the impact of proper nutrition and hypertrophy on muscle growth was discussed in detail, something which he had been unaware of.

Over the remainder of Grade 8 and through the summer leading up to Woodrow entering high school, he followed the basic rule-of-thumb advice provided on the show, and with another growth spurt he was able to put on a large amount of lean mass – which he attributed to the podcast. This apparent real-world validation of the show's content gave Woodrow confidence in its accuracy. It also encouraged him to seek out and begin to listen to other manosphere influencers like Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson, and Wes Watson, creators who he continues to engage with.

Starting at Red Rock gave Woodrow a chance to reinvent himself with this new knowledge, introducing himself as “Ritter” rather than his first name, as the common shortening of “Woody” had begun to feel childish and unbefitting of his new self-image. He also dropped out of the other sports teams he had been part of during middle school, now viewing them as distractions from his goal of becoming a professional football player, only continuing with track and field as an off-season sport to continue his athletic development and playing basketball in casual pick-up games with his friends.

Coach Francisco immediately took notice of Woodrow after he enrolled in the athletic program, and he took advantage of the variety of positions he had played in middle school, training him n a hybrid wide receiver and running back role, and keeping him on the JV team to develop. He quickly took to this new role and became a prominent player on the team, scoring 11 rushing touchdowns and 7 receiving touchdowns, as well as returning a punt for a touchdown in a 10-game season. This led to his immediate promotion to the varsity team for the winter off-season, an achievement he was deeply proud of, and something that gained him popularity beyond his existing friend group from middle school as he remained a pleasant, if more fiercely competitive teammate.

It was over this winter that Charlene was promoted to Senior Information Security Expert, a role that came with a substantial increase in salary, but also travel requirements as she would need to attend other MGM resorts like those in Detroit or Maryland. This promotion led to the two of them moving to a much larger property in Silver Springs. Whilst Woodrow was initially unhappy with the idea of moving away from the neighbourhood he had grown up with, he was swayed into acceptance by both the pool and indoor gym installed at their new home, and a promise to ensure he could get his full driving license to come back as soon as he turned 16. She kept this promise, with him receiving his Instruction Permit at 15 years and 6 months of age, and his full license and a used Hyundai Elantra as a gift for passing his test first time at age 16.

The weeks where Charlene travelled for work were originally spent with Arthur or paid childcare, but after an incident where her care arrangements fell through and she had to leave him on his own for four days, which he handled well, Charlene began to trust him to stay on his own in the house unsupervised when her trips were short. Woodrow initially did not take advantage of this, fearing that she might come back at any moment. However as it became a routine occurrence, he began to invite people back to his house after school so that they could hang out without adult supervision. This started as innocent opportunities to gather with his close friends and people from the football team, divebombing into the pool, or playing video games and music until the early hours of the morning. As word of this grew amongst the student body and the class aged, these gatherings evolved into parties, often featuring alcohol the guests had been able to acquire, which Woodrow was happy to accept.

His position as an occasional party host made him even more popular amongst his friends, who were eager to ingratiate themselves in order to keep attending, and they were something he greatly enjoyed as they allowed him an opportunity to both socialize and drink for free. This also put him in a position where he excluded those outside of his close friend circle from a part of the social fabric, as he rarely reached outside of them to communicate when parties were going down in an attempt to avoid being discovered by his mother. This caused some in the class to see him as cliquish or feel as though he was gatekeeping them.

His first year on the varsity team started quietly, with a standout player in his senior year who would go on to be recruited by UNLV playing in the same role Woodrow had been training for. Instead, he played his snaps primarily on special teams, or in three-receiver formations where he earned few targets. Late in the season Francisco’s habit of frequently adjusting his depth charts gave him an opportunity to shine, and Woodrow was able to take advantage, scoring 1 receiving touchdown and 2 rushing touchdowns in the last 3 games of the season to complete the Rattler’s run to a second-round playoff loss against the eventual winners Bishop Gorman.

The next season, with his physical development still on track, Woodrow stepped into the role of the recently graduated player within Francisco’s scheme. He excelled immediately, scoring 11 receiving touchdowns and 4 rushing touchdowns, as well as leading the team in total yards and getting initial attention from college recruiters. He was on track to challenge for the school receiving touchdown record of 20 in his junior season, with 15 scored in 8 games before a broken toe during practice ended his season with 2 games left to play. Entering his final season at Red Rock, Woodrow has set his sights on beating this record, as he believes it necessary to draw enough attention to himself to receive offers from a D1 college, something he sees as deeply important to his plan of becoming an NFL player, and his plan for after completing high school.

During his time recovering from his injury, Woodrow also began to set up a social media presence, seeing the success that other players were having in using this to attract recruiters, and secure NIL deals in college. Primarily focusing on Instagram, but also cross-posting to other platforms such as X and TikTok, he shares a mixture of carefully selected football highlights, athletic stunts performed with friends at home or around the Nevada area, and attempts at motivational content inspired by other manosphere creators. This has mostly had success amongst the people who know him personally, but he has accumulated 350 followers.

With his time being more heavily devoted to other pursuits and reduced supervision by his mother, Woodrow has also begun to struggle academically again. However, he has compensated by leaning on his friend network to help with his non-exam assignments to maintain grades at a B level in most subjects. His least favorite subject is English Literature, which he finds both difficult to understand and unmotivating, as he doesn’t see its practical value.

Advantages: Woodrow is one of the most athletically gifted members of the class, with his height, size and conditioning giving him an advantage in any physical confrontation. His large friend group and natural charisma should also make it easy for him to gain allies on the island.
Disadvantages: Woodrow’s energetic, self-confident personality may lead to him overestimating his own abilities, and the influence of toxic masculine ideals from his media diet may cause him to underestimate the danger posed by less physically imposing students. In addition, he may be viewed negatively, or as a potential threat by those outside of his friend group.

Who's that lurking in the corner of your eye? Who's that following, but never passing by? That's right. It's me. The man who will Gund your hams. Is that a threat? Probably not, but it kind of sounds like one.

Anyway, I'll be your reviewer this fine day. Welcome, pull up a chair and get cozy. Or don't, I'm not your boss.

Woodrow's looking solid so far, but there are few minor tweaks to be made, and until then he is Not Approved Yet. Or "NAY" if you're into acronyms. I say this to everybody, and I'll say it again here: this writeup may look long, but pretty much all of it is minor grammar nitpicks that are very, very easy to correct.

- First off, I'd recommend reading the profile out loud to yourself. There are a number of long, very content-heavy sentences here, and hearing it out loud is a really helpful way to figure out which ones can/should be chopped up into smaller ones.

- In Woodrow's interests, you probably don't need to specify that it's American football, since the character is American and playing in America. It's safe to assume that if he was playing the European version of football, it'd be referred to as "soccer."
- Also from the interests, specify what he does on social media. Influencing? Self-promotion? Content creation?
Woodrow is a Caucasian man
"Man" is probably technically the right word, but it'd probably be better as "young man" or even just "male."
He has long legs, broad shoulders, and a wide wingspan that leaves his hands barely above his knees when resting by his side
Change "leave" to "leaves," as in the bolded example. "Resting by his side" is slightly awkward phrasing, I'd recommend saying "when they're resting by his side" or "when they rest by his side", or something similar.
He prefers their light-coloured, muted offerings
Adjectival forms should be hyphenated, as above.
Charlene was a Program Manager for Cyber Security Strategy and Architecture at MGM Resorts International, and Jerry was working as a Maintenance Technician at a local car repair shop.
Job titles are generally only capitalized if they are preceding a name. So you would capitalize "President Biden" but not "Biden, who is the outgoing president." Neither of their job titles need to be capitalized in this instance, or in future instances, such as after Charlene's promotion.
Just noting this as an example of the long sentences I mentioned earlier. If you can't read this out in a single breath, then you should try to find a way to split the information into smaller sentences.
In 2009, following the Great Recession and shortly after Woodrow turned three
It's a style thing and not strictly *wrong* according to several sources, but it looks better and cleaner to use words instead of numerals. Some style guides use ages as an exception for this, so it's really up to you, but...
The breaking point came six months later,
...You definitely do want to use the word when you're enumerating items or units of time. For larger numbers (such as his follower count later in the profile) the numerals are fine, but for most smaller numbers it's better to use the word.
but in Grade 3 he took the SBAC for the first time and received a Level 1 in Maths and Level 2 in English, well below the expected results for his age.
Change "Grade 3" to "the third grade" or "grade three." Additionally, in North America, mathematics is usually just called "Math," no plural. Makes no sense, I know.
or deliberately completing them incorrectly to avoid having to engage with it.
What does "it" refer to here? If it refers to the worksheets, it should be pluralized to "them." If it's something else, it'd help to specify.
The coaches equally thought highly of him,
Awkward phrasing. Find a way to revise.
surviving alone in the Alaskan wilderness or being kidnapped by Somalian pirates for two years
Enumeration again.
scoring eleven rushing touchdowns and seven receiving touchdowns, as well as returning a punt for a touchdown in a ten-game season.
Enumeration again.
and a promise to ensure he could get his full driving license to come back as soon as he turned 16. She kept this promise, with him receiving his Instruction Permit at fifteen years and six months of age, and his full license and a used Hyundai Elantra as a gift for passing his test first time at age 16.
Enumeration again. The actual age (16) is a style issue, but I'd recommend changing both instances here to "sixteen" for more uniformity.
Late in the season Francisco’s habit of frequently adjusting his depth charts gave him an opportunity to shine, and Woodrow was able to take advantage, scoring one receiving touchdown and two rushing touchdowns in the last three games of the season to complete the Rattlers' run to a second-round playoff loss against the eventual winners Bishop Gorman.
Enumeration. Additionally, it's fine to have specific background information (such as the Rattlers losing in the second round of the playoffs that year), but it's worth reaching out to other handlers with characters on the team if you're going bring this up as an established event during the pregame/game proper, in order to prevent a continuity snarl if, say, someone else's character development is contingent on them having blown the game-winning field goal kick in the first round of playoffs that year. It's fine to keep it as is, just a note for how you'll probably want to handle this moving forward.

Also, props to you for doing your research with regards to Bishop Gorman, but you should avoid name-dropping real-world schools who might take exception to being named in a writing project like this. I'd just delete the words "Bishop Gorman" and leave the sentence as is.
He excelled immediately, scoring eleven receiving touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns, as well as leading the team in total yards and getting initial attention from college recruiters. He was on track to challenge for the school receiving touchdown record of twenty in his junior season, with fifteen scored in eight games before a broken toe during practice ended his season with two games left to play.
Enumeration.
Entering his final season at Red Rock, Woodrow has set his sights on beating this record, as he believes it necessary to draw enough attention to himself to receive offers from a Division I college,
Profiles tend to be more formal in nature, so this shouldn't be abbreviated.
Woodrow is one of the most athletically gifted members of the class
This is editorializing a bit. Avoid making categorical statements about other members of the class, and just state that Woodrow is very athletically gifted.

- Finally, it would be good to get a paragraph about where Woodrow's relationships with Arthur and Charlene currently stand.

-----------

And that's the lot of it. As I said at the top, there's a lot here. But I want to stress again, this is an incredibly well-written profile, and almost all of what I've flagged here is grammar correction or style quibbles, and should be very easy to correct. If there's anything here that doesn't make sense or could use more explanation, don't hesitate to reach out via board PM or Discord.

Post in here once you've done the edits and I'll take another look!
